On Saturday, September 29, Blackhawk showed its appreciation for our members with our second annual Member Appreciation Picnic at the Janesville Court Street Branch. Members enjoyed lunch, games, prizes, and a special football tailgating party for kids and adults. JT Current - Director of Lending
JT Current joins the Blackhawk team as our new Director of Lending and manages all aspects of the credit union’s consumer and mortgage lending production and processes. He has a strong background with over 16 years of experience in lending, operations, and insurance. JT majored in Communications at Black Hills State University in South Dakota. Originally from Denver, Colorado, JT now calls New Berlin, Wisconsin home. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, and reading.

Along with a new website, we will also be offering mobile banking and smartphone apps for both iPhone and Android users. Now you will be able to take your Blackhawk account anywhere you go. Blachawk’s new online banking site has been up and running for a few weeks now. We heard from you regarding the downtime we experienced and have worked with our vendor on improving issues. We appreciate your feedback and are committed to providing online tools you can count on. If you haven’t signed up for online banking, visit our site today to get started. You will be asked to set up a username and password that change on a regular basis to ensure a high-level of security. Our Call Center, at 608.755.6065, is happy to help with any questions.
SUCCESS: Cram the van School Supply Drive
With school budgets tight and the demand for school supplies great, Blackhawk helped to fill this need. During the month of August, the credit union held its sixth annual “Cram the Van” school supply drive.
The drive was a huge success and we are so proud to have partnered with the following auto dealerships that provided vans for us to cram full of school supplies. A big thank you to:

Blackhawk Scholarships for 2013
Over $13,000 to be awarded in 2012-2013
For almost 50 years, Blackhawk has been awarding scholarships to our young members to help them with their higher education goals. This year is no exception. For the 2012-2013 school year, we will be awarding over $13,000 in scholarships to eligible student members graduating from all local area high schools in Rock, Dane, Jefferson, Walworth, and Green counties.
Criteria is based upon the applicant’s overall academic performance, references, and written essay. Scholarship applications are available online at www.bhccu.org. They must be received by March 31, 2013 for consideration. The Scholarship Committee, comprised of Board members and Blackhawk management, will review applications and select the scholarship recipients.

Glen NeeleyLPL Registered Financial Advisor Glen knows firsthand that goals don’t just happen. They are achieved through hard work, determination, and a great deal of planning. While attending college, he worked as a Solutions Advisor with Gateway Computers and discovered that helping people accomplish their goals was his aspiration. Glen graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. After college, he joined the financial services industry as a Licensed Personal Banker where he helped people with all areas of their finances, including wealth management. Glen enjoyed helping people with their investing needs so much that he decided to specialize in it. He now joins Blackhawk with an experienced background in his specialty of wealth management. In his free time, Glen can be found spending time with his family, playing sports, and reading financial news.
Catherine BlakleyLPL Registered Administrative AssistantCatherine joined us with a long history of helping people with their financial needs. With 36 years of experience in the banking industry in various roles, she brings along valuable knowledge. Catherine has specialized in financial planning as a Licensed Personal Banker since 2003. She is excited about being part of the Blackhawk Wealth Management team and providing service to the membership. In her new role as the Licensed Administrative Assistant, she will be working directly with our Financial Advisors to help members reach those important milestones in life. Catherine lives in Milton and enjoys caring for her horses, vacationing, and spending time with her family.

Federal Benefits Going electronicAre You Ready?As of March 1, 2013, the U.S. Department of the Treasury will require all Federal benefit recipients to receive payments electronically, which will phase out paper checks. This change will save taxpayers $1 billion and save members the hassle of waiting in line and depositing their checks. Members have the option to receive their payments by direct deposit to their credit union or bank account or to a Direct Express® Debit MasterCard. scanning Driver’s Licenses for security
In order to protect your account even more, beginning in October when you visit a Blackhawk branch, our staff will be requesting to scan your driver’s license. This scan is stored in our system with your account record and is an added measure of security when it comes to ensuring your positive identity.
Along with scanning driver’s licenses, our new member and account processes are being streamlined to be more efficient for both members and employees, so that your banking with Blackhawk is more convenient.
