New Board member, shopping, accommodation, airline tickets

New Board member It is my pleasure to take part

in CDHope’s custom of

introducing myself as new

board member.

My name is Bert van

Vreeswijk and for the past

three years I have been

enjoying pre-retirement from

Philips Telecom where I used

to work. I am married to

Gerrie Schoenmaker and we

have been blessed with 3

children, 3 children-in-law

and 3 grandchildren.

Since a young age I have been

itching to do something

meaningful for others and at

this time of my life I want to

give back in gratitude for all

of my blessings. When I went

to Chawolo last year it quick-

ly became clear to me that I

wanted to devote more of

my time to the children and

the village and to the whole

organization of CDHope. My

role on the Board will be

focussed on coordinating and

assisting fund-raising projects

for CDHope. Please contact

me if you would like to start

up a project.

Goede Doel Shop You can still carry out your

on-line purchases from the

same retailers and at the same

price via Goede Doel Shop.

Your purchases will provide

CDHope a financial contribu-

tion at no extra cost to

yourself. There are more than

300 retailers to choose from.

When making an on-line

purchase, check first via

www.goededoelshop.nl if the

retailer of your choice is

participating, and secure a

dona t ion for CDHope .

Amongst the participating shops

you will find Bol.com, Hema,

V&D, C&A, Blokker, Bruna,

Independer.nl and many more.

Accommodation and transportation have been arranged! We issued an electronic

solicitation in March for

accommodation and transporta-

tion for Tim, Wilma, Eugene

and Jaimie Omalla during their

visit to The Netherlands in May/

June of this year.

We are thankful for your

reactions and for a home and

car that have been made

available to them for the

duration of their furlough

visit.

Airfare We are still looking for

sponsors who would contrib-

ute an amount towards their

airfare in order to make their

May/June visit a reality.

You can donate via electronic

funds transfer to account 1281.29.956 in the name of

CDHope, Kamerik, with the

mention “tickets Omalla

family”.

The support work for CDHope in the Netherlands is carried out solely by volunteers. There is a board of directors and two work teams: the sponsor fund team and the home front team. The work teams support CDHope but are not members of the board.

The home front team takes care of:

Maintaining the address database

Writing the newsletters, thank you notes, posters, flyers and

presentations

Matching up sponsors and children

Maintaining the sponsorship administration and the waiting list

Putting together sponsor folders and sending updates about the

children to the sponsors

Organizing the annual general meeting and organizing the practical

details of the furlough visits

Communications between Uganda and The Netherlands

Attending meetings and

Maintaining the website and mailbox

What can the home front team assist you with? Mainly with all sorts of

practical tasks that happen behind the scene. Should you have a change of

address or wish to sponsor a child or want to organize a fundraising activity, an email message to: [email protected] or a letter to Hazelaarlaan 3, 2803 BS Gouda will do the job. The home front can also provide you with attractive custom made folder materials for your projects according to your requirements.

What is the home

front team and what do they do?
