> Doxa Patri ke Io ke Agio Pnevmati,

be exultant, dance and leap for Joy, for you have witnessed Christ the King coming forth as Bridegroom from the Tomb.

So let the sinners perish from the Sight of God, and let the Righteous be glad.

The Myrrh-bearing Women at dawn

very early, standing outside the Tomb of the Giver of Life, found an Angel who was seated upon the stone. And the Angel addressed them and said: “Why do you seek among the dead the One Who is alive? Why do you grieve as though corruptible the Incorrupt? So go back and proclaim it to His Disciples.

This is the Day the Lord made; let us greatly rejoice and be glad therein.

Pascha of Delight! Pascha, the Lord’s

Pascha! A Pascha All Venerable has risen for us! With Joy, let us embrace one another! Pascha, the Ransom from sorrow! Today from the Sepulchre Christ emerge resplendently as from a Brida Chamber, and the Women He filled with Joy, saying: Proclaim this to the Apostles!

Purity and Chastity, in being Blessed by God.

His Proclamation went forth into all

the earth, and his words to the ends

of the world.

Let us now extol the Divine St John with

Spiritual Songs as a Servant of Christ our King, Garland of Virginity and

Luminous Mouth of Grace, Habitation most worthy to receive

the Divine Virtures, the Church’s brightest Eye; and let us honour him as the Holy Spirit’s Sacred Temple

and Instrument of Divine Wisdom.

The Heavens declare the Glory of God; the firmament shows the Creation of His Hands.

O John, when Thou leaned upon the

Bosom of Divine Wisdom Himself, Thou drew out as if from a Well, Waters of Theology, and Thou

watered the world with them. And with the knowledge about the

Trinity, Thou dried the ocean of pagan godlessness; Thou were an

animate Pillar of both Cloud and Fire, guiding us towards our

Heavenly Inheritance.

The third time our Lord Jesus showed

Himself to His Disciples after He was Risen from the dead, when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter: “Simon, son of Jonah, do you Love Me more than these?”

He said to Him: “Yes, Lord, Thou know

that I love Thee.”

He said to him: “Feed My Lambs.”

He said to him again a second time:

“Simon, son of Jonah, do you Love Me?”

He said to Him:, “Yes Lord; Thou know

that I Love Thee.”

He said to him: “Tend My sheep.”

He said to him the third time: “Simon,

son of Jonah, do you love Me?”

Peter was grieved because He asked him

a third time: “Do you love Me?”

And he said to Him, “Lord, Thou know

all things; Thou know that I love Thee.”

Jesus said to him:, “Feed My sheep.

“Truly, truly, I say to you: when you were younger, you girded yourself and walked where you wished; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish to go.”

This He spoke, signifying by what death

he would glorify God.

And when He had spoken this, He said

to him: “Follow Me!”

Then Peter, turning around, saw the

Disciple whom Jesus Loved following, (who also had leaned on His Breast at the Supper and asked: “Lord, who is the one who betrays Thee?”)

Seeing him, Peter said to Jesus: “Lord,

what about this man?” Jesus said to him: “If I Will that he

remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow Me!”

Then this saying went out among the

Brethren that this Disciple would not die.

Yet Jesus did not say to him that he

would not die, but: “If I Will that he remain until I come, what is that to you?”

This is the Disciple who testifies to

these things, and wrote these things; and we know that his Testimony is True.

And there are also many other things

that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written.

Triumphal Hymn from death to Life and from earth to Heaven.

ODE 3ODE 3ODE 3ODE 3

Come, let us drink a New Drink. Not

one miraculously brought forth from a barren Rock, but from the Fountain of Immortality, sprung forth from Christ’s Tomb, from which we are Edified.

ODE 4ODE 4ODE 4ODE 4

Let the God-inspired Prophet Habakkuk

keep with us the Divine Watch, and point out the Light-bearing Angels, who with a vibrant voice declared: “Today, Salvation comes to the world, for Christ has Risen as Almighty!”

ODE 5ODE 5ODE 5ODE 5

Let us arise in the early dawn, and

instead of Myrrh, offer a Hymn to the Master; and we shall see Christ, the Sun of Righteousness dawning Life to all.

ODE 6ODE 6ODE 6ODE 6

Thou descended into the deepest parts

of the earth and Thou shattered everlasting bars that held fast those fettered; and on the third day, like Jonah from the whale, Thou arose from the Tomb.

ODE 7ODE 7ODE 7ODE 7

The Only Blessed and Ever Glorious

God of our Fathers, Who Redeemed the Children from the furnace, became Man, suffered as a mortal; and through Suffering, He clothes the mortal with the Grace of Incorruption.

ODE 8ODE 8ODE 8ODE 8

>We praise, we Bless and we worship

the Lord.

This is the Chosen and Holy Day, the

first of the Sabbaths, the Queen and Sovereign, the Feast of Feasts, and the Festival of Festivals, in which we Bless Christ to all Ages.

He is the Paramount of the Apostles,

the Trumpet of Theology, the Spiritual General, who made the civilized world subject to God: that celebrated Evangelist John. Come, O Faithful, let us call him Blessed. He was translated from earth, yet not withdrawn from earth; he is alive and waiting for the Fearful Second Coming of Our Master. May Thou meet it uncondemned, O Mystical Bosom Friend of Christ, as Thou pray for us who lovingly observe Thy memory.
