FRIDAY, OCT. 18th FARRIER COMPETITION HERITAGE PARK -ACROSS HWY #1 FROM BEST WESTERN
Judge- Dave Duckett FWCFEach competitor must supply a freestanding workstation including fire extinguisher, and use 20lb propane
bottles. No trucks will remain in the arena. Competitors must supply a horse holder.
FRIDAY, OCT.18 - 6:30-7:30 am Setup
Div I Eagle Eye (TBA) – 3/4x3/8 to fit foot
Forging I (60 min). Rework a pair of front keg shoes into hinds. One of the shoes having forged heels of choice for traction.
Forging II (60 min). Concave hunter front, toe clipped. Plain stamped hind with ¼ clips. 12”x3/8x3/4”both shoes. Your choice of clips. Mustad E 4 Arc nail.
Forging III (60 min). Cut out toe area of keg shoe and forge weld it into another making a barshoe. Make a concave hind 51/2”across with a wide lateral branch for support. 12”3/4x1/2”
Div II Eagle Eye (TBA) – 3/8 Tongs.
Forging I (60 min). Concave front straight Barshoe 4 3/4”wide. Concave caulk and wedge hind 5 ¼” wide. Chose appropriate bar stock with Mustad E 3 nails. Both shoes hammer side clipped
Forging II (60 min). Full fullered front shoe, toe clipped 5 ¾”across. ¾ fullered hind shoe side clipped, 5”across. Both shoes to be Hammer clipped.
Shoeing (75 min). Horse to be shod for trail. Shoe one hind with ¾ fullered flat stock, side clipped. Specimen shoe,1”x1/2’ plain stamped toe clipped, hammer drawn, 6”across. Appropriate Mustad E nails, hammer finished.
TOP FIVE SHOEING (75 min). Shoe one front foot, concave, side clipped.
Specimen – Double block heel, plain stamped hind, 6”wide. 1”x1/2”flat stock.
Specimen shoes to be hammer clipped.
Appropriate Mustad E, Arc Nail.
Div III Other wise known as the “Big Boy’s and Girl’s Club”
