Welcome! We welcome to our community of faith Michael Alexander Allen, the son of Michael and Jennifer who will be baptised with water and the Holy Spirit this weekend.

From The Pastor’s Desk... And here we are! The Great Day of Resurrection has come, and we once again celebrate the foundation of our identity as Christians. Easter Day is really it: because of the empty Cross, and the empty Tomb, we have been redeemed and sent forth to proclaim, endlessly, that Christ is Risen!

Everything flows from today. Everything we do draws its meaning from what we celebrate today. Everything we are flows from the dawning of Christ, the Light of the World. Everything, without exception, is radically changed because it has been touched by that Light which darkness cannot overcome.

Easter, however, is not just today. Easter is not even just the Season of Easter that extends through to the Feast of Pentecost. Any time we gather it is Easter. Any time the Word of God is proclaimed it is Easter. Any time we celebrate the Sacraments it is Easter. Every baptism, every marriage, every funeral is a celebration of Easter.

And so we Christians are truly an Easter People. And we are called to live as an Easter People providing an ever present witness to the world that Christ is Risen! Not just today, or this week, but every day of our lives as we live in the Light of the Resurrection!

On this day—and every day—we say Χριστός Ανέστη! Είναι πράγματι Ανέστη!

Until next week… Fr Andrew

Catholic Newspapers Available Both The Catholic Leader (Brisbane) and The Catholic Weekly (Sydney) newspapers are available at a cost of $2 each from our churches.

Fr Andrew Away During the coming weeks I will be away from the Parish for some extended periods:

From Easter Monday (21st April) until Easter Thursday (24th April) - in order to fulfil some of my diocesan obligations; and

From Monday 28th April until Friday 2nd May (inclusive) - in order to attend the Diocesan Clergy Gathering in Kincumber.

During my absences it will not be possible for Mass to be celebrated in the Parish (given Fr Dennis’ absence). I apologise for this and thank you for your understanding.

Fr Andrew

Easter Thanks A special word of thanks to all those who have worked hard behind the scenes to make our celebrations of the Paschal Triduum and Easter Sunday the wonderful celebrations they have been. To the sacristans, readers, ministers of communion, and those who have attended to the preparation of our churches: your dedication and hard work is much appreciated.

A particular mention should be made of our musicians and choir members who have been rehearsing for months for the celebrations—well and truly above the call—in order to provide the wonderful music for our liturgies across the Paschal Triduum.

Fr Andrew
