CORE PROGRAMThe Core Program brings together a group of influential leaders from around the state for an educational and inspirational experience that is unlike any other organization. In a 10-month program designed to address critical issues in New Mexico, each session features expert speakers and offers an opportunity for inquiry, analysis, and the development of solutions to some of New Mexico’s most pressing problems. Each program year includes educational sessions on topics such as health and human services, economic development, education, environment and natural resources, government, and crime and justice. The diversity of perspectives from each participant, the breadth of knowledge and expertise of the speakers, and the distinct communities where program sessions are held are the most valuable components of the Core Program.

LOCAL GOVERNMENT LEADERSHIP PROGRAMThe Local Government Leadership Program is an educational partnership between the New Mexico Municipal League, the New Mexico Association of Counties, the New Mexico School Board Association and Leadership New Mexico. These organizations joined together to provide a unique educational experience for municipal and county officials, school board members, members of the New Mexico National Guard, and regional councils of governments. The curriculum is patterned after the Leadership New Mexico Core Program and designed to provide local leaders the opportunity to explore the issues facing New Mexico and participate in skill-building workshops. The Local Government Leadership Program seeks to prepare local officials with the background and knowledge necessary to undertake their civic responsibility and instill in them a passion for effective and ethical public service.

CONNECT NEW MEXICOConnect New Mexico “The Next Generation of Leadership” is a program for 25- to 40-year-old professionals from around the state. The curriculum combines elements of the Core Program and the Local Government Leadership Program and includes leadership skills development. Connect New Mexico was created to offer young professionals the opportunity to develop personal leadership skills, learn how New Mexico’s systems and structures work, and explore the issues facing the state. The process encourages participants to cultivate new ideas and leadership techniques and helps participants understand some of New Mexico’s most pressing issues and challenges. The Connect New Mexico Program helps create a bond between young professionals, the communities they live in, and the state of New Mexico, while helping them gain the skills they need to be effective, influential leaders. The program provides participants with tools they can take back to their communities to develop positive change and create initiatives to improve the quality of life.

THE ALUMNI PROGRAMThe Alumni Program is intended to further the education and challenge the thinking of Leadership New Mexico graduates. In addition, interaction with graduates from other classes exposes leaders to a wider diversity of perspectives as well as helps to develop the professional and personal relationships that are one of the most valuable aspects of Leadership New Mexico.

Leadership New Mexico has educated and inspired New Mexico’s leaders for 19 years. We were

founded to bring leaders from across New Mexico to expand their knowledge and understanding of

issues facing the state. Leadership New Mexico creates an environment where learning happens

in an open, collaborative and constructive environment. Leaders take their new-found knowledge

back to their communities, passionate about inspiring informed change that makes a difference in

the future of New Mexico.

Participation in Leadership New Mexico programs stimulates the creation of relationships

that can provide resources for the future. Leadership New Mexico graduated 100 participants

from its three programs during the 2014-2015 year. Since its inception, 1,269 leaders from 82

communities now call themselves Leadership New Mexico alumni. Alumni are in every part of

the state in a wide variety of business and government leadership roles. Business and personal

relationships created during the programs have continued for many years on a statewide basis.

Many graduates donate their time to the organization through board service, committees

and as speakers. Others generously provide financial support through alumni memberships,

lifetime memberships, personal or corporate gifts and donations to Leadership New Mexico’s

endowment. The endowment was created in 2009 to ensure the prosperity of Leadership

New Mexico and, in turn, the future of the state.

We are proud to have been a part of Leadership New Mexico’s great accomplishments this

past year and look forward to many more successful years. We are grateful for our dedicated

volunteers, sponsors, speakers, and staff who believe in our organization and generously share

their time and resources to accomplish Leadership New Mexico’s mission.

With your valued support, Leadership New Mexico will continue its mission to create a better,

brighter future for New Mexico families and businesses while preserving the culture of this

beautiful state.

Thank you for supporting an organization dedicated to making a significant difference in the quality

of life in New Mexico.

In 2009, Leadership New Mexico established an endowment fund for alumni and friends of the organization. The goal of the endowment is to generate a permanent source of income to offset administrative expenses, which will allow us to focus our fundraising efforts exclusively on program expenses. The endowment will also serve as a financial cushion against lean times and help ensure that Leadership New Mexico’s mission will be sustained in perpetuity. In lieu of paying annual membership dues, a graduate, business or friend of the organization may become a lifetime member by making a donation that entitles him or her to all benefits of an alumni membership and more. Lifetime Membership donations are invested in the Leadership New Mexico Endowment. Seventeen new Lifetime Members joined during 2014-2015 for a total of 152 Lifetime Members since 2009. If you would like to support the endowment fund or purchase a Lifetime Membership, please contact Leadership New Mexico. A Lifetime Membership or contribution is a tax-deductible, charitable donation. Donations to the endowment fund or general donations may also be made through United Way by specifying Leadership New Mexico on the pledge form.
