Dear Friends,When we strengthen families, we strengthen community. In this annual report, we take you inside Family & Children Services’ programs

to better understand our services and the opportunities they offer community members. We work to help children who bear the

burden of early childhood abuse, neglect, and family violence; youth struggling with emotional and developmental challenges; or

parents and adults struggling to be successful. The common thread is that each child or adult hopes to feel better, do better on the

job or in school, and be part of a strong family and community.

Each of the 9,000 children and adults who turned to Family & Children Services in 2014 did so seeking support and the tools to be

successful in making difficult life transitions. Our obligation is to provide them with a continuum of therapeutic and support

services aligned with our mission “to support, strengthen, and preserve the safety, well-being, and dignity of children, individuals,

and families.” Consumer ‘voice and choice’ are priorities in all that we do because the success of our service delivery relies on a

trust relationship that supports client engagement in the work of becoming whole, improving abilities, and stabilizing families.

In keeping our mission and values at the center of our work, Family & Children Services’ Board of Directors analyzed our current space

utilization, focused on the types of spaces that would encourage the optimal service experience, best utilize staff expertise, and

reduce further trauma, while creating strength-based solutions with our clients. The result was the decision to add safe, nurturing

indoor and outdoor spaces for parent coaching and trauma treatment, and renovate existing space for youth with emotional and

developmental challenges to develop community living skills. Our Making Room For Hope Capital Campaign is now under way with

34 eager community volunteers reporting robust early responses. We’ll have more to share in late summer as the public phase begins.

It is an exciting and challenging time to be a part of the 112-year legacy of Family & Children Services. Our services could not have

developed without your ongoing support. The Agency simply wouldn’t be A Source of Hope to our clients without you.

Given our current facility constraints, our ability to serve the tremendous growth in client needs and produce effective outcomes has reached a tipping point. 2014 FINANCIAL HIGHLIGHTS Family & Children Services’ operating revenues for 2014 were $10,798,164. In addition to United Way donations during 2014,

which were included in operations, Family & Children Services’ friends generously donated $1,029,072 in annual, restricted, endowment,

and early capital campaign gifts as well as non-cash gifts with an estimated value of $132,141.

Family & Children Services responds to each community’s

changing human service needs and invites community

members to join us through donation and volunteer service.

Annual Giving

• HANDLE WITH CARE: A unique safety net providing clients

of Family & Children Services with basic needs and specialized

services when there is no other source in the community.

• “Pack a Child for Camp”: Provides camp scholarship

opportunities for children being served by the Agency.

• Holiday Giving Program: Individuals, schools, community

groups, and corporate donors are matched individually with

client families to provide holiday meals and gifts.

• Year ‘Round Pantry: Individual, community, and corporate

in-kind gifts are provided to clients served by the Agency.

These items include toys, household items, camping supplies,

back-to-school needs, blankets and bedding, baby and

toddler essentials and other personal care items.
