The great question before all is what kind of society will evolve in Hanoi in the days to come. Will it be a society of mate- rialism, self-service, and inequali- ty or a society of generosity, car- ing, and equality? In light of the evolving reality of Hanoi, we com- mit ourselves to seek the peace and prosperity of the city and to pray for it (Jer. 29:7). We realize that our service in and to Hanoi will require posi- tivity and pa- tience, pliancy and persistence. God is moving in Hanoi within the Church and be- yond! Therefore, it is with a sense of anticipation and cooperation that we present this summary of the important, inspiring, and in- vigorating conversation that took place at the Future Hanoi Forum. (To receive a summary statement, please contact the HIF office.) On Sunday, January 18, 2015 the Hanoi International Fellow- ship (HIF) hosted a Future Hanoi Forum at the Hanoi Club. The leadership of HIF listened to, learned from, and engaged with leaders from both the local and international communities. To- gether we reflect- ed back on the past five years and anticipated what the next five years might be like. We spoke in terms of eight par- ticular domains of society: business, social & non- profit, arts & cul- ture, family, healthcare, educa- tion, government, and Church. Throughout these conversations it was our intention to discover how we can serve God and bless the city of Hanoi. At the completion of the even- ing, all present felt a sense of opti- mism. It was expressed in many and various ways how we within the Christian com- munity have a great and wonder- ful opportunity to bless and positive- ly influence the city of Hanoi in contextually rele- vant and tangibly practical ways.
