Freedom was a key word in the early days of motorcycling. Obviously, the bikes from those times are now vintage. They could not compete with nowadays’ monsters, by

any means. But there was something very nice about them, something which has been (mostly) lost since: character. This is why we still cherish these motorcycles and love to race them, in our modern times. This is what the whole vintage movement is all about.

When the pioneers raced the desert from Barstow to Vegas, they had no idea what it would be like to enjoy a triple-layer-foamed, solidly-strapped, anti-fogged-lensed set of goggles, made of modern materials and featuring such a wide field of view. But those are today’s most advanced standards of comfort and safety, so that’s what you’ll find

in the Barstow along with, of course, the vintage style.

Now that your eyes and style are taken care of, like they used to say … Gas it!

FOLLOWING FILLMOREChris Fillmore pilots the #11 KTM/HMC RC8

in the AMA Pro SuperBike series. Chris, a former two-time AMA Pro Supermoto Cham-

pion, originally started testing the RC8 back in 2008 and has gone on to race it the past few

seasons for the Factory KTM/HMC team.

Fillmore gives it 100%. One example is his finish at Laguna Seca in 2013. Chris was on

his way to his first ever podium finish after making the pass for third place. Suddenly,

his bike ran out of fuel on the final straight. Rather than give up, Fillmore jumped off his bike and ran alongside it while he pushed it

over the finish line in seventh place.

It’s not just his race efforts that draw us to Chris. He truly explores each possibility

presented to the fullest. His travels have been documented in his own web series titled

“Following Fillmore” where you can go along for the ride. Whether it’s motocross,

mountain biking, snowboarding, road cycling or everything in between, you can bet Fillmore is always looking for the next

adventure.

THE LIFE OF RILEYRiley Harper is definitely living the dream. As a well-respect-ed stuntman, Riley travels the world taking the hits as a stunt

double for some of Hollywood’s biggest stars.

Being a stuntman is in his blood. His father Tom is co-founder of Brand X Stunts, which is a premier organization of some of the best stuntmen in the industry, Riley included. His younger

brother, Reid, has also joined the family business doing stunts.

When the cameras stop rolling, Riley doesn’t slow down. An avid motorcyclist, Harper shares our love for all things on two

wheels. Whether he’s tearing up a motocross track or riding through hills on his Triumph near his Southern California

home, Riley rides every chance he gets.

Beyond the bike Riley enjoys surfing, skateboarding, and playing music. His all around creativity and passion for what

he does makes him a perfect fit as a brand advocate for the Barstow collection.

Purveyors Of PossibilityDeus ex Machina (god from the machine) roared into Australia’s

cultural consciousness in 2006, with some neatly customized motor-cycles and a quaint notion that doing something is more fun than just

owning something. Deus ex Machina is a step bigger than a brand: it’s a culture.

The Deus brand has expanded from their Australian origins to bring their impressive design and fabrication into flagship emporiums in

Los Angeles, Bali, Tokyo, and Milan.

Their openness and enthusiasm strike a chord with people, wherever they are... Deus (“day-us”) didn’t set out only to sell custom parts

and hand-built motorcycles, but to celebrate a culture of creativity. The Deus philosophy recalls an era before the various pursuits of fun

– motorcycling, surfing, whatever – were marketed into fundamentalist factions.

It’s this philosophy that blends perfectly with our way of doing things at 100%. Exploring this culture and creativity together with Deus

has resulted in a new collab goggle formed through our shared expe-riences in motorcycling, design, and fashion.

NEVER PERFECT BUT ALWAYS AWESOMEBritish born Nicolai Sclater is a very talented yet unconventional artist

otherwise known as Ornamental Conifer. Although he’s currently living in Los Angeles, Nico developed his unique style of typogra-phy at Middlesex University in London. His hand drawn work is a breath of fresh air and

reminds us to “make our own fun.”While many artists these days create their work on a computer, Nico prefers the more tradi-tional approach of hand drawing and painting his designs. And, while his work can be seen in traditional surfaces such as store windows and canvas’s, he is far from traditional. His application to the more unconventional pieces such as motorcycle fuel tanks, helmets, and

most notably leather jackets is what makes him stand out from the rest. So why not apply this art to a goggle strap? Nico shares our passion to do things differently and have fun so he started sketching away. The end result is a new limited edition Barstow

goggle that is “off the beaten path.”

The Land Of JoyInventive, youthful and free-spirited, the new Ducati Scrambler is much more than

a bike, It’s a land of joy, freedom and self-expression.

The Ducati Scrambler is the contemporary interpretation of the iconic Ducati model, as if it had never been out of production. The style is “post-heritage”: to

take the best of the past and create something unique and absolutely contemporary. Anti-conformist, accessible and essential, the Ducati Scrambler is the perfect blend of tradition and modernity and marks a return to the pure essence of motorcycling: two

wheels, a wide handlebar, a simple engine and a huge amount of fun.

Partnering with Ducati to be a part of the Scrambler project follows the same idealism our Barstow collection was built on…to fuse vintage moto design with modern styling

and technology to create a timeless look with next level performance.

The Scrambler Ducati Barstow goggle will be available at Ducati dealers worldwide.

artist / ambassadorParis-born Dimitri Coste is a photographer and film director who’s extensive work is ingrained with his immense passion for motorcycles, bicycles, skateboarding, and SoCal American culture. Thanks to his dad’s job as editor-in-chief of French publications such as Moto-Verte and later Bicross magazine, Dimitri’s love for two wheels started at an early age. Growing up alongside an artistic older brother (Ruby helmet’s creator Jerome Coste), Dimitri tapped into his own creative side and began taking photos while hitting up Mountain Bike and BMX races. His work has since transcended far beyond 2 wheels. As an influential creative talent, he’s teamed up with other notable tastemakers for numerous collaborations. His portfolio extends even further into the high-fashion industry and he’s filmed and edited some of the top music videos in France.

His true passion, along with photography, still remains motorcycling and when the famous Catalina Grad Prix was revived in 2010, Coste quickly signed up and arranged to have his 1967 Triumph TR6C shipped over from France so he could race. Dimitri went on to win his class at Catalina and followed that up by finishing the infamous Pikes Peak hill climb in Colorado as part of his OSFA (One Size Fits All) project: to race the same Triumph in the classic U.S. races of the 50’s & ‘60’s just as it was done back in the day.

Much of Dimitri’s travels have been documented through his work for California shoe brand Vans. He was chosen in 2011 as one of four ambassadors of the Vans OTW collec-tion for which he had the opportunity to design his own sig-nature shoes. One of the largest collectors of Vans, Dimitri owns more than 300 unique pairs. The only thing he might enjoy more than a classic pair of Vans is a Double Double from In-N-Out Burger. Sometimes referred to as “the Cali-fornia guy living in Paris”, his interest in vintage American culture plays into his freestyle way of doing things. He’s always having fun and effortlessly relates to the people he is shooting.

A long-time close friend of ours, Dimitri has been a part of our creative process for many years and is the man behind the lens for the lifestyle photographs and videos of the Barstow project. It was a natural fit to include him on the Barstow concept. And, as usual, he provided his element of excitement as only Dimitri could every step of the way.

The phrase inked across his chest sums it up best…“Life is a rodeo”
