Time and again I’m reminded of the wonderfully

rich connection shared by our musicians and the

audience during performances. If you regularly

attend TSO concerts, you’ll understand this

Our 2015/2016 season offers an embarrassment

of riches, from soul-searching and dynamic

masterpieces to tried-and-true favourites to

cutting edge excursions into the unknown—there

is something for everyone. This season, we begin

our fabulous Decades Project, which spotlights the

20th Century: an eruption of diverse musical ideas

from rich late-Romanticism, lush Impressionism,

driving jazz, Expressionism, the Avant-Garde,

Minimalism, and more. We’ll explore together

the amazing masterpieces of the orchestral and

chamber-music world that forever changed the

way we hear music.

The musicians and I invite you to connect with us

and be a part of incredible musical experiences.

the TSO so far, I’m repeatedly thrilled by what the

musicians of our Orchestra and our Music Director

importance to our city as well as music’s vital

Evening Masterworks Concert

The Festival kicks off with an intriguing programme that includes a mesmerizing work by Australian composer Anthony Pateras that combines wind instruments, percussion, electronics, and celeste. In a rare act of creative/re-creative artistry, Festival curator Brett Dean performs the solo part in his own exciting and fascinating Viola Concerto.

Evening Masterworks Concert

Brett Dean’s dazzling trumpet concerto depicts various aspects of a heroic figure, from confident to introspective. It is performed by the celebrated Swedish soloist for whom it was composed. Australian composer James Ledger pays tribute to Anton Webern and John Lennon, two composers whom he deeply admires, and who died tragically.

The Festival’s concluding programme presents Water, a tender and dynamic piece by Jonny Greenwood of the iconic English rock group, Radiohead. It adds a tambura, an East Indian instrument, to the orchestra. Brett Dean presents a vocal/instrumental suite of excerpts from his forceful, surreal, and highly praised 2010 opera, Bliss. As an ear-opening final bonus, DJ Skratch Bastid creates a remix of music from the Festival.

Pricing Senior & Student PricingA senior discount is available in most price levels for the weekday evening Masterworks, Casual, Light Classics, and Pops series. Discounts are available to patrons 65 years or older as of December 31, 2015.

A student discount is available for certain series to anyone in full-time attendance at an educational institution. Proof of ID is required.

Tickets will not be mailed until a copy of senior or student ID is shown or received at the TSO office. Please include the patron number when mailing or faxing ID.

How are seats assigned?Order priority is set based on the following:

Seats for additional concerts beyond your subscription order are assigned based on the same criteria.

Ticket ExchangesThe TSO permits ticket exchanges into most concerts. Exchanges must be made at least 48 hours prior to the concert you hold. This service is free to subscribers, and costs $8 per ticket for individual ticket buyers. Subscriber exchanges can be made starting July 13, 2015. Tickets may only be exchanged for another concert in the 2015/2016 season. For more information on ticket exchanges, please visit TSO.CA/Exchanges.

Ticket Donations If tickets cannot be exchanged, then it is possible to donate your tickets for resale up to 48 hours prior to the concert. A charitable tax receipt is issued. Exclusively for TSO Subscribers.

Refunds Complete subscription package refunds are accepted up to 48 hours prior to the first concert you hold for the 2015/2016 season.
