Hello everyone, my name’s Pedro Luis Rico José, I’m 33 years old, I live in Fuseta, a little vilage, located next to Faro, the capital of ALGARVE.
My passion has always focused around the sport. All my life, since my childhood I breathe and live concentrated in principle: The Physical Activity as a me-dium that goes harmoniously for a healthy life cycle. That’s how I try to live and that people around me feel infected by this principle.
This motivation led me to the professi-on that now I exercise: Teacher of Basic Education / Physical Education.
The pigeon sport became part of my life in 2003, a big challenge. In that year I raced with youngsters in ‘Sociedade Columbófilia Fusetense.’ I had always my brothers help. In That year I gave classes In Madeira Island, very far from Portugal and my brother, teacher as me, went to Barrancos, a small village 280km from Fuseta. Due to this fact, my mother had to take care of our pigeons and race with them. In that year the re-sults were not very good.
In the following years I continued as
fancier, always uncertain where I would work. Far away, or close to my pigeon loft. Up to the present day my job has always been complicated to manage the pigeon colony. In these four years, de-spite the professional instability, I was in most cases close to the top five in the championships of sprint and middle distance in a society dominated by older and more experienced pigeon fanciers.
We didn’t give up and go on with pigeon racing... In 2007 we won our first title, 1st Place Sprint championship, some-thing that won’t happened a long time ago with pigeon fanciers from our villa-ge. In the same year we won also the 4th Midde-Distance Championship.
Our basic strain is the Jassens pigeons. We are incondicional fans of that kind of bird, wich was a well suceed combination of the JANSSEN Brothers of Arendonk in Belgium.
Later on we bought birds with Gaby VANDENABEELE, Louis VAN LOON
To finish I would like to say thanks to my mother, brother, and some friends.
Without those suport it wouldn’t be pos-sible to get all those victories!
But due my job, I need to decide to sell all my birds.
We’ve made the choice to have a total auction at the Belgian website P-BAY.
In this auction, all our top birds will be sold. Al our basic breeders and record birds. Amongst them, the original VAN LOON birds, the exclusive brother of ROYAL BLUE of Gaby VANDENABEELE, etc... etc... Birds which gave us the most exciting moments of my lifetime.
But in the pigeon sport of today, you need to focus yourself completely 100% on the pigeon sport and the combination with my job isn’t easy anymore. Due this auction I will give other pigeon fanciers the chance to participate at a high level and give them the same joy which we had with descendants of them...
