Glossary You will notice two distinctly different types of figures in our catalogues, gloss finish and matte finish. The matte figures are 56/58mm-1/30 scale and are painted in a hyper-realistic style with shading and highlighting, all with a matte finish for an added touch of realism. The glossy figures are a true 54mm figure and are painted in the classic style with simple, neat painting finished in a high gloss lacquer.

SOME PROTOTYPES SHOWN IN THIS CATALOG. THERE MAY BE MINOR VARIATIONS IN DETAILS WITH PRODUCTION

Welcome to our 2015 Fall Collection of W. Britain model figures. This issue adds new figures to five of our ranges, re-energizes our World War II range and introduces the first selection for our Classic Gloss Regiments series.

The Regiments series is the new name for what we used to market as either Redcoats or Redcoats & Bluecoats in the French & Indian War. The Regiments

name will give us the option of visiting troops beyond those serving in North America or the United Kingdom.

Wrath of the Northmen is a brand new series that will eventually have a large collection of Vikings, Saxons, Normans and scenic accessories to represent the years of raiding and conquest in the 8th and 9th centuries.

The new additions to our World War I series includes a new Vickers machine gun and scenic base and a French trench mortar manned by U.S. Doughboys.

Our return to World War II includes the first releases for the War in Europe during the winter of 1944-45 and includes classic uniforms and equipment of American and German forces. Future releases will include many more figures and vehicles

including representations of British and Commonwealth forces in the closing days of the war in Europe.

Please read on!

WRATH OF THE NORTHMEN matte finish

On the 8th of June 793, Viking long ships appeared off the Northeast coast of England in Northumberland to raid the abbey on the Holy Island of Lindisfarne. In a short period of time, the abbey and surrounding village was destroyed with many of the Monks falling victim to the “wolves from the sea.” Those that were not killed were carried away as slaves along with the church treasures.

So feared were the Viking raiders, that it is said the English Book of Prayer included the phrase—A furore Normannorum libera nos, Domine, “From the fury of the Northmen deliver us, Lord.” 62101

REGIMENTS CLASSIC COLLECTION gloss finish

The first releases in our new Regiments Classic Gloss series are members of the British 10th Light Dragoons at the end of the Eighteenth Century. Originally raised in 1715 as Humphrey Gore’s Regiment of Dragoons, in 1782 George, Prince of Wales, was appointed Colonel Commandant of the Tenth Light Dragoons. In 1793, the regiment was retitled 10th Light Dragoons ‘The Prince of Wales’ Own.’ His pride in the Dragoons was such that in 1793 he spent his thirty-first birthday with the regiment, then encamped at Brighton. Look for additions to this collection later this year.

23109 “Queen of The Battlefield”

1916-18 British Vickers Gun and Crew3 Piece Set & Accessories

Limited Edition of 500 Sets

The Vickers machine gun fired the standard British rifle cartridge of .303 at a rate of 450 rounds per minute. This weapon was originally adopted before the war and went to the mainland in 1914. Improvements were made based on the practical experience of the battlefield resulting in a more durable and slightly lighter design. It quickly earned the nickname “Queen of the Battlefield” by the British Machine Gun Corps and although surpassed by newer, lighter weapons like the Lewis Gun, it soldiered on well into the mid-twentieth century.

Our new Vickers gun comes complete with a scenic base and accessories.

The Mortier de 58 mm type 2 was the stan-dard French medium trench mortar of World War I. It was known as the Crapouillot or “Lit-tle Toad” from its appearance and could fire several variations of spigot launched bombs. The U.S. Army also used this equipment on the western front. Our model features a two man crew of “Doughboys” loading the launcher and two transport boxes for bombs.

Our new trench section can be used with or without the duckboards provided and is useful as a scenic accessory for many of our WWI and WWII figures.

Static warfare on the Western front during The Great War required constant repair of trenches, communication lines and barbed wire. British trenches often were water logged and in some sectors it was not unusual to see men in waders if they were available. Our newest 1916-18 release reflects these details.

25051 WWII German Type 166 Schwimmwagen & Crew, 12th SS Division, Winter 1944-45

3 Piece Set

Shortly after the fall of France in 1940, the German Army identified the need for a small durable amphibious vehicle for reconnaissance and headquarters units. Several prototypes were developed and tested and by the end of April 1942, the specifications for the type 166 Schwimmwagen were decided on for mass production. This model had a wheel-base of only 200 cm (6.6 ft) and was four wheel drive.

When in the water, a small folding propeller was lowered down to drive. When in place, a simple coupling provided drive straight from an extension of the engine’s crankshaft. This meant that screw propulsion was only available going forward. For reversing in the water, there was the choice of using the standard equipment paddle or running the land drive in reverse, allowing the wheel-rotation to slowly take the vehicle back. The front wheels doubled as rudders, so steering was done with the steering wheel both on land and on water.

14,276 vehicles were built from 1942 to 1944. Given these numbers, the Type 166 Schwimmwagen was the most mass-produced amphibious car in history.

In the fall of 1944, most allied soldiers predicted that the war in Europe would be over by Christmas. Fierce fighting was taking place along the German frontier at Aachen and the Hürtgen Forest and the collapse of the German Army in the west seemed imminent.

But the German Army was still a foe to be respected and on the 16th of December, it launched a major counter offensive in the heavily wooded area of the Ardennes Belgium, France, and Luxembourg. In the early part of the offensive, the Germans managed to make deep penetrations into the U.S. defenses in that sector. The surprise attack caught the Allied forc-es completely off guard and it developed into the largest and bloodiest battle fought by the United States in World War II.

By January 25th of 1945, the ‘Bulge’ in the allied lines had been com-pletely reduced, severely depleting Germany’s armored forces on the Western Front, crippling their ability to resist the final Allied push to the Rhine.

Our newest World War II releases focus on this time period and will be developed in depth to allow the collector to represent any of the engage-ments in the closing days of war in Europe on the western front.

The winter of 1944-45 was particularly harsh and the troops involved in the fighting that year suffered on both sides. Our newest releases represents U.S. Airborne Infantry of the 101st Airborne Division as they would have appeared in the Ardennes during the “Battle of the Bulge.” They wear a combination of the rigger modified M-43 combat uniforms and standard issue cold weather overcoats and for the lucky ones, rubber overshoes. Look for additional sets to follow later this year.
