Belated best wishes for the New Year to all those Brethren who I have yet to meet in 2014. We start this year with a new look to the Bury District News, and with content which I hope you will find both informative and interesting. I have just attended a workshop for Lodge Secretaries or-ganised by the Provincial Education & Development Team and presented by the Provincial Grand Secretary, WBro John Farrington, and key members of his team. 25 mem-bers of Lodges in the District – Secretaries, Assistant Secre-taries and ‘would be’ Secretaries – were at the event, which was held at Bury Masonic Hall. The workshop was very well received and allowed for a thorough discussion of is-sues and concerns about the effective administration of Lodges. What came across loud and clear was how much informa-tion is available to us all on the Secretariat part of the Pro-vincial website. It’s well worth a browse by accessing www.pglel.co.uk and following the link to the Craft then the link to the Secretariat on the left hand side of the page. I must also draw your attention to the hard work of the Hall management teams in the District. The Brethren who give their time to the organisation and day to day running of our Halls at Ashday Lea, Bury and Radcliffe, deserve our thanks and appreciation for their commitment and determination to provide us with good facilities at the lowest cost. Without the work that they do we would not have places to meet and yet I’m sure that many of us just take it for granted that our Hall will always be there for our meetings, practices and so-cial events. Please continue to enjoy your Freemasonry.

The 120 club was founded over 20 years ago to strengthen the link between Bury and
Radcliffe Masonic Halls.
Basically each member of the club is issued a number, or as many numbers he would like, at an
annual cost of £20 each
There are 8 monthly draws with prizes of £50, £40, £30, £20, and £10 each month. At the
Annual District Dinner in May there are four further prizes of £500, £250, £200 and £100.
Proceeds of the club are usually donated equally to Bury and Radcliffe Masonic Halls but as
membership is now spreading to brethren meeting in Rawtenstall this has been revised to
include Ashday Lea Masonic Hall.
If you would like to join the 120 club please contact the District Representative for your
Lodge. Subscriptions run from March 1st and may be paid by annual Standing Order if more
convenient.
Note – Any member who has not paid their subscription for 2013-2014 please do so

newsletter will now be more streamlined and issued beginning of every month . Items regarding Your Lodge and
Chapter business, both formal and social, are most welcome . Contributions regarding personal achievements, items
of general interest, Masonic prose and humour, are welcome also. Items regarding the 2015 Festival are especially
welcome, particularly if you wish to publicise a forthcoming fund raising event.
