Common Language, Common People, Extraordinary Message Koiné is a Greek word that means “common.” They play common instruments and common hymns that many know and enjoy. The only extraordinary thing about Koiné and what they do is the message that they proclaim through the music they play. It’s the same message of the Bible – Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world.

Koiné Music Ministries is a non-profit ministry whose main source of support is the generosity of local churches and WELS members like you. Koiné Music Ministries has partnered with Wisconsin Lutheran College and Martin Luther College as they share the mission and purpose of each institution through their many travels. For more information about either school, visit their websites: www.wlc.edu and www.mlc-wels.edu.

Throughout the year Koiné travels to 200 churches, schools, and events across the United States. From Seattle to Miami and everywhere in between, Koiné travels to share God’s saving message through music. In addition to playing concerts and services, Koiné serves the church by making their music available on recordings, sheet music, and non-vocal CDs, which are often used by grade school and Sunday school teachers to teach hymns to children.

For up-to-date information on Koiné and to see their latest schedule, find Koiné on facebook and visit www.koinemusic.com.

Students of the Second Quarter

Why did these five children

get selected for Students of the

Quarter?

Well, here is why…

...Kindergartner Dylann

Ledebuhr works hard to complete

her work and does the best she can.

She is a great helper and is willing

to help others when needed.

Dylann loves to sing, her enthusi-

asm comes through no maer what

song we are working on. She also

loves to answer questions and

shares her knowledge with those

around her. Thank you, Miss

Karla Opperman.

...Logan Goeman is a hard worker

who stays focused on a task until it

is done. He is very respectful of

other classes going on in the room

and has good control of his whisper

voice. Logan helps friends without

disrupting. When he is done with

his work, he uses his natural artis-

tic ability to create his favorite

thing—monsters! Logan is a sec-

ond grader and his teacher is

Miss Holly Len&.

...Mr. Justin Hansen chose

third grader, Kaylee Roper.

Kaylee looks for ways to help in the

classroom. She works hard to get

her work done. Kaylee is well orga-

nized. Go Kaylee!

...good student, does her work

well, pays aention in class. This

is what Miss Judy Thumann has

to say about fifth grader, Mac-

kenzie Nelson. Miss Thumann

continues by adding Mackenzie

is also a good person. She is con-

siderate and helpful to everyone.

Nice work, Mackenzie!

...seventh grader, Mahreah

Bain, was selected by Principal

Benjamin Bain. Mahreah is a cre-

ative young lady. Her creativity

shows in her art, her writing, and

in other school projects. Mahreah

is organized, geing work done on

time. She is willing to ask ques-

tions when she is confused.

Mahreah shows kindness to her

classmates, geing along well with

them. Mahreah, you are on the

right track!

These students were treated to

lunch with Mr. Bain to celebrate.

Congratulations! Kaylee Roper

The Tiger Report We a great season! Both teams have showed

skill and determination on the courts. We have

played a group of home-schooled children in

Rochester, St. John’s of Lake City, St. John’s of

Goodhue, Christ Lutheran of Zumbrota and St.

Paul’s of Cannon Falls.

Our teams participated in the Penta League

Tournament held in Goodhue. Our girls took

third place and the boy’s came away with second

place.

Players in grades 4-6 played in the BBBB----Frozen Frozen Frozen Frozen

Tournament Tournament Tournament Tournament at St. John’s of Lake City. Both teams

came away with second place.

Our final home game was against St. Paul’s of

Cannon Falls on February 20. There was a special

atmosphere amidst! We watched our outstanding

players work the court, the cheerleaders got peo-

ple on their feet, and a St. John’s pep band got the

crowd in a fun mood! We thank everyone that

made the game extra-special!!

At press time we are heading to Martin Luther

College in New Ulm, Minnesota, for the basket-

ball tournament there. Not only do we have the

opportunity to play on the

courts, but it is a marvelous

time for fellow-

ship and fun!

solid Christian education for their children, please

contact the school at 651.388.2611. Don’t delay!

Thank You Thank you to Mrs. Lavon Frazier for her gift of

$86 through Thrivent’s ®Choice Dollars program.

We appreciate her generosity.

assistance fund has again given generously—

Let’s talk about The Penny for a minute...you

know, they can always use items for sale. Keep

this in mind as you commence closet and cabinet

cleaning this spring.

Not only does Wise Penny need items to sell,

they sell things! It is nearly one stop shopping!

red, “bean” benches in our

classrooms? They came

from Famous Footwear®!

We are glad the people at
