SUMMARY OF KEY FINDINGS
KEY FINDINGSSMALL SALARY INCREASES ACROSS ALL CATEGORIES FOUND AGAINST COMPARATIVE DATA FOR 2014/15 Salaries increased marginally across all categories when compared with 2014/2015 figures. The Midlands experienced the highest levels of basic salary increase, while other regions remained relatively stagnant. Subsequently, the salary gap found between the Midlands and other regions within England last year has been reduced. !MARKETING PROFESSIONALS OUT-PERFORM SALES AND OPERATIONAL CATEGORIES 41% of Marketing professionals report receiving a promotion in the last 12 months and 71% report receiving a pay increase. While the increases in basic pay may have only been at the rate of inflation, 64% of Sales and only 51% of Operational professionals received an increase within the same period. !MARKETING PEOPLE ARE THE MOST CONTENT! 24% of marketing professionals reported an intention to change the company they work for within the next 12 months, the lowest of the three role categories - Sales 33% and Operations 38%. Across all regions these figures represent a decrease from the prior 12 months, when up to 50% of professionals within the FMCG sector believed they’d be on the move. !A HIGH LEVEL OF CONFIDENCE IN THE JOB MARKET Of those wishing to make a move in the next 12 months, 64% of Sales professionals, 60% of Marketing professionals and 76% of Operational professionals are confident they’ll secure a new role within three months of starting their search. This demonstrates a high degree of confidence in the job market. !
LOW PROMOTIONAL EXPECTATIONS ACROSS ALL ROLE CATEGORIES Relatively few individuals across Sales, Marketing and Operations categories expect to receive a promotion in the next 12 months: Marketing professionals have the highest expectation at 35% followed by Sales at 18% and Operations at 15%. !HOPES FOR BASIC PAY INCREASE ACROSS ALL CATEGORIES While economic uncertainty put a stop on guaranteed annual salary increases, the expectations for annual rises are increasing. 71% of Sales, 65% of Marketing and 62% of Operational professionals stated that they expected to receive a pay rise within the next 12 months. !!If you would like to discuss any of these results further, or to explore how they might impact your organisation’s ability to attract and retain great people within the next 12 months, please call us on +44(0) 845 2000 741.
