Summer Opportunities Fair 2015Brought to you by the Westridge Parent Association

Welcome to the annual Summer Opportunities Fair! Today, we celebrate 24 years of welcoming families to the Westridge campus to explore a wide variety of summer programs. Over the years, we have watched this day evolve into a major community-service event on a national scale. We are profoundly grateful for our long-standing collaboration with our community.

If you are here today seeking the right summer program for your children, congratulations on getting an early start! Summer may be months away but we encourage you to leap into summer and begin collecting information now. There’s no better place to start than right here at the Summer Opportunities Fair.

This year’s fair brings together, in one place, more than 100 exhibitors of K-12 summer programs so that you can discover, first hand, the many and varied programs not only in your own neighborhood but in the greater Los Angeles area, across the nation, and even across the oceans. Summer offerings include outdoor adventure, fine and performing arts, academics, travel, community service opportunities for teens, and options for children with special needs – and most importantly, programs to fit every budget.

Our thanks go out to the Summer Opportunities Fair committee for creating this wonderful event once again. We are also grateful to our corporate sponsors for helping to underwrite the fair’s expenses. And to you here today, as a parent or student volunteer, as a sponsor, exhibitor, resource center participant, patron, Westridge staff member or fair-day guest, we would like to thank you for making today a success and for the countless hours many of you have contributed to making the fair the very best that it can be.

We wish you and your family a fantastic summer, and we hope to have you join us next year!

Welcome to Westridge School and the 24th annual Summer Opportunities Fair.

Once again, a dedicated group of Westridge parent volunteers and staff have worked tirelessly to assemble an impressive group of summer camps and programs for you to consider. I offer my sincere thanks to the SOF Committee and its many parent volunteers. Thanks also for the unwavering support of the Westridge staff, administration and Advancement Office. Together, we are proud to provide this outstanding public service event.

We are also proud that a significant portion of the proceeds from SOF supports Partnership for Success! (formerly Skills Enrichment Program). Partnership for Success! is a unique collaboration between four Pasadena independent schools and the Pasadena Unified School District. The summer program is offered to PUSD students who demonstrate academic potential and leadership qualities, but who have limited access to resources that would enhance their traditional learning experience.

This comprehensive catalogue is organized in three sections: • Fair exhibitors (including organizations present in the Resource Center)• Community service opportunities • Opportunities for children with special needs

Use the catalogue to help navigate the fair today, and as an ongoing resource after the fair is over.

Summer is a time for exploration and fun. I hope you will experience both as you search for the perfect summer opportunity for your child.

Founded in 1913, Westridge School is a 100-year-old independent day school for college-bound girls, grades 4 through 12, located in Pasadena, California.

Since its inception, Westridge has been committed to empowering young women as leaders, collaborators, and critical thinkers in a community that values intellect and goodness. Its program is based on research into how girls learn, and balances girls’ intellectual, emo-tional, and spiritual growth. From Lower and Middle through Upper School, Westridge girls are taught to think critically and independently, work collaboratively, and trust their own judgement.

Westridge develops in students their confidence and intellectual potential in a learning enviornment where leadership, academic excellence, athletic strength, and artistic expression are role modeled by girls, for girls.

Westridge has established itself as a leader in girls education, serving families throughout the San Gabriel Valley and Los Angeles. This 9.5-acre, 17-building campus stretches across an idyllic, park-like setting in a quiet residential Pasadena neighborhood.

We invite you to get to know Westridge.
