The purpose of the scholarship is to assist individuals to further their education. Each recipient receives $8,000 ($2,000 per year) over a consecutive four-year period as long as the student is making reasonable academic progress. Any graduating high school senior and resident of the State of Iowa with experience or background in golf is eligible to apply. Scholarships are awarded based on academic performance, extracurricular activities and leadership qualities, not on golf accomplishments or ability. Scholarships are awarded and recipients are selected solely on the basis of the written application. The decision of the Herman Sani Selection Committee is final. Recipients must attend the Sani Awards Banquet and presentation on Friday, August 12, 2016. The completed application must be received (in office below) by 4:30 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2016 and must contain the following: 1. Self-statement: In narrative form summarize your experience and accomplishments. Include awards received and participation in all extra-curricular activities in school and community. Describe your plans for college and career expectations. Please include any expectations for future involvement in golf. 2. Financial need: Summarize your work experience, family, and general financial need. 3. Letters of recommendation: Enclose only two recommendations from adults who are familiar with your personal qualities and your school and community activities. 4. Official school transcript: Transcript must include all high school course work, grade point average, and ACT and/or SAT results through the first semester of applicant's senior year. ATTENTION: Please submit your application and all attachments as SINGLE-SIDED documents and WITHOUT STAPLES. All applicants will receive a letter notifying them if they have or have not been awarded the scholarship.
