If you currently use the City’s Recreation Facilities, and want to register for classes online, grab your scan card and let’s get started.

Go to www.lakelandathletics.net and select the tab for the type of programming you would like to register for. (Classes are organized by start date.)

Select the name of the class to get more detailed information.

Once you have chosen the class you are interested in, select “Register” at the far right of the row.

If you have not used the online registration before, a user name and a password must be set up. Once that is done you can log in. On the next screen check the box to agree to the terms including the 2.8% fee.

Continue to the next screen. If you have a scan card for the participant enrolling in the class/program enter the number on the back. (Note: You must use the scan card for the person participating in the class. Each individual has their own scan card; therefore, a parent cannot use their scan card to register their child for a class.)

If you don’t have a scan card, you can enter your information into the yellow fields for the participant.

Now, you can either proceed to checkout or add additional registrations. Feel free to call 863.834.3284 if you have questions or problems with online regsitration.

Established in 1983, Kelly Recreation Complex has been providing

recreation opportunities to the community of Lakeland for over

25 years. This facility houses an expansive cardio theatre, multi-

level fitness area, several classrooms, as well as a 12,000 square

foot gymnasium. For those seeking outdoor recreation, eight

lighted tennis courts are also available. This spacious facility

provides the residents of Lakeland access to a diverse selection of

recreation activities.

Registration at the Kelly Recreation Complex is required for all

activities and classes. Due to limited enrollment, pre-registration and

pre-payment is recommended and sometimes required for classes.

In addition, the admission fee paid for activities and classes does not include access to the cardio room, weight rooms or any other ongoing activities. The minimum age requirement is 15 years old. Participants 12-14 years of age may work out if accompanied by a parent or guardian, 18 years old and up. Anyone under the age of 12 cannot use the fitness rooms due to insurance requirements. All participants are encouraged to consult a physician before beginning any exercise program.

Co-Ed Cardio Room: Work out in our cardio room featuring Cardio Theatre and Precor & Track Master machines such as cross trainers, upright & recumbent bikes, steppers, treadmills, rowers and more! The theatre consists of 8 flat screen televisions on different stations for your entertainment. Standard 3.5 mm headphones are required for the audio. Participants may bring their own headphones or purchase a pair for $5 at the front desk.

for the youth within the Lakeland community. Providing a unique approach to dance

instruction dancers receive professional training through a variety of dance techniques

including Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Modern, and African Dance & Drumming. All

students are introduced to the skills of performing, stage presence and projection.

All while becoming motivated to perform, and feel a need to dance! Crystal’s

World of Dance offers two recitals annually, in conjunction with several community

performances and competitions. It is the Mission of Crystal’s World of Dance to expose

each student to the world of dance through training and performances.

The Student’s participate in several community performances such as: The production

of Clare and the Chocolate Nutcracker, The L.B Brown cultural festival, The Evelyn

Bryant Cultural Festival, and The Black Nativity. Students take pride in traveling to

participate in training classes, workshops and to perform. Dancers have visited The

Debbie Allen Dance Academy in California, The Broadway Dance Center in New York

City, Total Dance in Atlanta, and Joy of Motion in Washington DC to name a few. In

2013, dancers traveled to Atlanta, Ga. to compete in the National Platinum Dance

Competition and won 1st place in three different categories. At Crystal’s World of

Dance we believe dance and the art of performing are powerful tools and should be

used for making a positive change in the world!

Jazz dance itself is a combination of classical ballet moves mixed with steps from American popular culture, including African and Celtic dance influences. While it has become a fine art form, originally jazz dance was designed to entertain, and even the basic steps have a showy, extreme feel to them. —SUPER TOTSSuper Tots is designed for toddlers age 3 and 4 and is perfect for those entering a dance class for the first time who are eager to explore the world of dance! The dancers will have a rich experience of learning how their bodies respond to music - learning skills such as locomotor (moving) and non-locomotor (staying in one place) movements in an atmosphere that is filled with imagery and self-expression. Coleman-BushBuildingHistoryColeman-Bush Building was designed to be a multipurpose physical facility for the social, economic, health, cultural, recreational, and educational needs of the growing community. Construction began on the then-named Northwest Community Center in 1974.In October of 1980, it officially became the Coleman-Bush Building. It was named after two gentlemen who were prominent members of the community. Charles A. Coleman was a Lakeland Commissioner from 1974 until 1978. He also served as mayor pro term in 1976 and mayor in 1977. Gow M. Bush was a well known physician. They were both active and involved in the local civic affairs.

This building has proven to be an important asset to the community and has continued to fulfill the objective set up all those years ago. It has provided office space for lease by non-profit organizations and meeting space for civic groups. Social events enhance the quality of the community life, so it is only fitting that the Coleman-Bush Building, a community cornerstone, hosts these events, as well. It also provides leisure time programming for the city’s residents. City of Lakeland Neighborhood Services & Housing Division replaced the rental suites, NAACP remains in the building.

police athletic league The National Police Athletic League began back in 1910 when Captain John Sweeney of the New York Police Department had the insight to offer inner-city youth some positive experiences, which involved interaction with law enforcement officers. He began knowing that the program would influence the youth of his community. Law enforcement involvement and supervision at recreation sites such as ball fields, classrooms, and playgrounds helped to position these officers as friends.

Today, PAL serves more than 1.5 million youth nationwide between the ages of 4 and 18. The organization has over 300 law enforcement agencies serving over 700 cities and 1,700 facilities throughout the United States, including the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.

The Lakeland Police Athletic / Activities League Inc. (PAL) became incorporated in the State of Florida on October 14, 1993. Lakeland PAL began with only a few children participating in the program; Today, Lakeland PAL staff and volunteers mentor to more than 900 local children annually and supervise dozens of local volunteers.

Our Mission: The Lakeland Police Athletic / Activities League, Inc. (PAL) was formed to prevent juvenile crime and violence utilizing recreation-oriented juvenile crime prevention programs that relies heavily upon athletics, recreational activities, and education to help kids go right and stay right. Simpson Pool features a 10 lane, 50 meter long course

The Lake Mirror Complex is a multifaceted

entertainment complex that provides senior adult

activities, theatre productions and building rental

opportunities. Located on Lakeland’s scenic Lake

Mirror, this four building complex offers a wide range

of facilities for your meeting and party needs. While

visiting downtown Lakeland, don’t forget to stroll

through our attractive Lake Mirror Park located on

the south side of Lake Mirror spread over 7.6 acres.

Enjoy the scenic park, listed in the National Register of

Historic Places, with its historic structure. A walk around

the promenade along Lake Mirror is great exercise and

relaxing for all ages. The Amphitheater and Loggia are

available for weddings and/or receptions, club events,

fundraisers and other special events. Kryger Park on

the west side of Lake Mirror, provides picturesque vistas

of Lake Mirror perfect for any outdoor event. New

locations include the Railroad Pavilion across from

the Amtrak station, and the Mirrors, at the intersection

of Main Street at the Fire House. These are available

for rental. Barnett Family Park includes an interactive

fountain area (10 am -5 pm daily, except Wednesdays)

and the Sunflower Preschool Playground, state of the

art play equipment, and sculptures to play on. The

interactive fountain area will be shut off when the

temperature is 65 degrees or below. The Peggy Brown

Center located in the park has a covered picnic area,

restrooms, and additional meeting and event rental

facilities. Hollis Garden displays an array of botanicals

in a variety of hues and textures. Also featured are

fountains, statuaries, a shaded gazebo with stately

columns and a walkway that, if strolled, will take you

on a serene tour of our picturesque gardens. It’s open

to the public from 10 am to dusk every day except

Mondays. Hollis Garden is available for weddings only,

with some restrictions. For more information, please

Lakeland Community Theatre’s home is the 390 seat Lake Mirror

Theatre which has provided the Lakeland community with live Theater

productions for more than 30 years. It produces five Main Stage

productions a year, including Musicals, Comedies and Dramas, The

Edge: An alternative Stage Read Series, Out of the Box Theatre Troupe

with Unique Abilities, Senior Troupe and a three show Theatre for

Youth Season as well as classes and camps throughout the year. With

a full time staff of 4, it hires theatre professionals for its technical and

production needs but is mainly volunteer based with all of its actors

and most of its production help volunteering from the community.

Auditions are held prior to every production and are open to all.
