Writi Take Flight numeracy has a strong focus on building number knowledge and then using this to solve problems. Workshops will run across the Hub catering to the varying needs of our learners. There will be a rotation of Take Flight Newsletter February 2015 Welcome Bay School Maths Take Flight runs a programme based on “Daily 5” which encourages children to take ownership of their learning and gives them greater personal choice. Children will bring home either an instructional book or a book of their choice daily. Please take the time to listen to them read and to Readin g Take Flight starts each day with writing so ensuring children are at school on time is crucial to helping them progress to their greatest potential. Children will attend workshops throughout the week based on their personal goals. On Monday morning Take Flight Term 1, Hats: ALL students are required to wear a wide brimmed hat outside every day. Uniform: Please ensure all clothing items are clearly named. Swimming: Take Flight will swim each day. Children need to bring their togs every day or a note explaining why they are unable to participate. Stationery: Stationery lists have gone home, please try to organise your child’s books as soon as possible. If there are any problems please pop in and see us and we’ll find a solution together. Library: School library is Monday morning, pelase ensure books are returned. Welcome to Term 1, 2016 and an extra special welcome to the wonderful new students and families who have joined the Take Flight team this term. The teaching team this year are; Ms Daniels, Miss McGovern and Mrs McKinlay. Take Flight is very lucky to have Whaea Liz as part of their team in 2016 as a visual and performing arts specialist. Term 1 will see Take Flight working increasingly collaboratively across the Hub in all learning areas. This draws on the experience and expertise of all teachers and develops strong relationships. We are very excited about the term ahead and the opportunities teaching and learning this way provides. All students in Take Flight will be part of being a “Trusted Learner”. This includes gaining things like a Digi Licence and Work Outdoors Pass to name only a few. The purpose is to create independent and self-monitoring learners along with growing their Important Information
