HONORCODE
Studentswillnotlie,cheat,steal,orcopytheworkofothersortoleratethosewhodo.ExpectedBehaviorsMountPisgahChristianSchoolstrivestoprovideanatmosphereinwhichstudentsdevelopintellectually,socially,andspiritually.Inanefforttocreatethisatmosphere,valuesaretaught,learned,andpracticedeveryday.Studentsareexpectedtobehavewithhonoratalltimes.Weencourageandfosterhonorablebehaviorbymakingclearthattherewillbenolying,stealing,cheating,plagiarizing,orcondoningthebehaviorofthosewhodo.
• Lyingistheintentionalfalsificationordenialoffact,theintentionalcreatingofafalseimpressionorthebreakingofapledge.
• Stealingisthetakingofanythingwithouttheconsentoftheowner.• Cheatingisgiving,receivingorattemptingtogiveorreceiveunauthorizedhelpthatcould
resultinanunfairadvantageincompletingschoolwork.Itisalsotherepresentationofanother’sworkasone’sown.
• Plagiarismisdefinedaseitherintentionallyorunintentionallyborrowingsomeoneelse’swords,ideasorfactsorpassingthemoffasone’sown.Ineithercase,failuretocreditthesourceofthosewords,ideasorfactsproperlyconstitutesanactofplagiarism.
ItistheresponsibilityofeachandeverystudenttoreportaninfractionoftheHonorCodetoateacher,anadministrator,ordivisionhead.HonorPledgeIntheMiddleandUpperschools,onallquizzes,testsandprojects,studentswillberequiredtowritethefollowingHonorPledgeatthetopoftheirpaper:OnmyHonor,Ihaveneithergivennorreceivedunauthorizedhelponthisassignment.Bywritingand/orsigningthispledge,studentsgivetheirwordthattheworkistheirownproduct.Projectsandassignmentscompletedoutsidetheclassroomfallunderthispolicy.Onsomeoccasions,studentswillcollaborate(workinpairsoringroups)oncooperativelearningprojects.Projectsrequiringcollaborativeeffortswillbeclearlyannouncedassuchbytheteacher.RepercussionsforViolationoftheHonorCodeHonoroffensesaretreateddifferentlyfromnormaldisciplinaryoffenses.TheywillbebroughtimmediatelytotheattentionoftheAdministrationforproperevaluationanddeterminationofdisciplinaryaction.

UpperSchoolHonorCouncilInanefforttoinstillasenseofstudentinvestmentintheconceptoftheHonorCode,theUpperSchoolhasincorporatedanHonorCouncilcomposedofstudentsandfaculty.Thisbodyisnotacourt,butratheritisanadvisoryboardthatconsidersviolationsoftheHonorCodeandmakesrecommendationstotheHeadofUpperSchool.
ATTENDANCEANDABSENCES
Oneofthemostimportant“lifeready”skillsweteachispunctualityandattendance.Irregularattendanceisdisruptivetoastudent’sacademicprogress.Parentsareaskedtoavoidcheckingstudentsoutearlyforappointments.Whiletheschoolrealizesthattherewillbetimeswhenextenuatingcircumstanceswarrantastudentmissschool,frequentorlongabsencesfromclassfornonessentialreasonsisnotconducivetoanappropriateattitudetowardlearning.Thefollowingpoliciesaredesignedtoprovidestudentswiththebestpossibleopportunitiesforlearningandtomaintaintheacademicintegrityoftheschool.WeexpectthatallstudentswhoseeducationalgoalsandworkethicarecompatiblewiththephilosophyofMountPisgahwillevidencethatcompatibilitybyfullcooperationwiththeattendancepolicies.ArrivalMiddleandUpperSchoolStudentsmaybedroppedoffoncampusat7a.m.LowerSchoolStudentscanenroll inEarlyBird todrop-off students forsupervisedcareat7a.m.Inquirewithlowerschoolofficefordetails.LateArrival,Tardies,DailyAttendance,CuttingClass LowerSchool
• Eachtimeastudentistardyitinterfereswiththesuccessfulbeginningoftheclassroomdayforthisstudentandhis/herclassmates.Parentsmustaccompanyanystudentarrivingafter8a.m.(9a.m.onWednesdays)tosignthemintothelowerschoolofficeandmustobtainanadmissionslipforadmittancetoclassroom.Afterfivetardyarrivals,schooladministrationwillconferencewithparentstoestablishaplanforpromptarrival.
• Childrennotpickedupby3:30willbeplacedinMountPisgah’safterschoolprogramfortheafternoon.Parentswillpaythefeeof$25forsupervisionandsnack.
MiddleandUpperSchool
• Studentattendancewillbetrackedforeachperiodoftheacademicday.• Beingtardyisdefinedasarrivingafterthestartingbelland/orunpreparedforthe
beginningofclass,includinghomeroom,chapelandscheduledappointmentswithteachers.Uponreceivinga5thtardytoaclass,astudentwillserveadetention.
• Studentsareexpectedtoarrivetoschoolontime.Studentswhoarelatetoschool(between8:30-9M-For8:50-9:25onWednesday)willbecountedastardy.IntheUpperSchool,studentswhoaretardywillservedetentionduringlunchonthedaytheyarecountedtardy.Detentionwillnotbeadjustedtoaccommodateastudent’sschedule.Ifastudentcontinuestoarrivelatetoschool,theymayincurfurtherdisciplinaryconsequencesincludingthelossofdrivingprivileges.

• Parentsofstudentswhoarrivelateareaskedtocontacttheoffice.Studentswhodrivethemselvestoschool,andarrivelate,mustsigninwiththeoffice.
• Regularityinattendanceisessentialtoastudent’sprogress;therefore,itisimperativethatabsencesbeheldtoaminimum.Parentsshouldmakeallpossibleeffortstoavoidschedulingdoctor,dentalorotherroutineappointmentsduringregularschoolhours.
• Astudentwhoisabsentmorethanthree(3)consecutivedaysmayberequestedtobringanotefromhis/herdoctorverifyinghis/herillnessbeforere-admittance.
• Astudentmustarriveatschoolbefore10a.m.inordertobeeligibletoparticipateinextracurricularactivitiesorathletics.Ifastudentchecksoutbeforenoon,anddoesnotreturnthatday,he/sheisineligibletoparticipateinextracurricularactivitiesorathletics.
• Cuttingclassor“skipping”schooloccurswhenastudentisabsentfromclass,schoolorotherscheduledeventswithoutpermissionfromeitheraparentorschoolofficial.Studentswhocutclassorskipschoolwillbesubjecttodisciplinaryconsequencesincludingdetention,SaturdaySchool,orsuspensionaswellaslossofdrivingprivileges.
• Studentswhobecomeillorneedtoseeacounselororadministratorduringclasstimeshouldfirstreporttoclassandobtainwrittenpermissiontobeexcused.Ifastudentistooilltoreporttotheoffice,he/sheshouldhaveanotherpersonnotifytheofficeatonce.
• MiddleSchoolchildrennotpickedupby3:30willbeplacedinMountPisgah’safterschoolprogramfortheafternoon.
• Ifastudentsignsinlateandmissesatest,theymustbepreparedtomake-upthattestafterschoolthesameday.
• Studentsshouldnotcheckoutduringthedayunlesstheyareillanddonotplantoreturn.Studentscheckingoutwiththeintentionofreturningafteranappointmentmustprovideanotefromtheappointmentforre-admittance.
ExcessiveAbsences/CourseCreditMountPisgahfeelsthatclassattendanceisessentialforacademicgrowthandthereforewillrefusecredittoanystudentwhomissesmorethaneight(8)classesinanycourseduringthesemesterunlesstheadministrationdeterminesthatextenuatingcircumstancesexist.Eachstudentwillbeallowedatotalofeight(8)absencespersemesterasdictatedbyGeorgiatruancylaws,beforetheschoolwilltakeaction.Theadministrationreservestherighttoaddresseachcaseindividuallyandactappropriately.Parentswillbenotifiedwhenastudentreacheshis/herfifthabsencewithinasemesteratwhichtimetheDivisionHeadand/orAssistantHeadofUpperSchoolwillmeetwiththestudentandparenttoreviewtheabsences.AppointmentsAnabsencewhetherforanappointment,illness,etc.,willsimplybeconsideredanabsenceandwillcountaspartoftheeight(8)possibleabsencespersemester.Exceptionstothisincludefieldtrips,schoolsponsoredextracurricularevents(sports,arts)andpre-approvedcollegevisits.Thesewillnotbeincludedintheeight(8)absenceslimit.Ifastudentmissesmorethan25minutesofclass,theywillberecordedasabsentfortheclassperiod.

CommunicatingAbsences
• Parentsarerequestedtoinformtheschoolofficeby9:30a.m.eachmorningtoadvisethefacultyofanticipatedlatearrivalsand/orabsencesduetoillnessorinjury.
• Presentationofawrittenexcusemayberequiredbytheappropriateschoolofficeuponthestudent’sreturntoschool.
• Intheeventthataparent/guardiandoesnotcontacttheschooloffice,theschoolwillcontacttheparent/guardiantoconfirmthestudent’sabsence.
• Intheeventaparent/caregiverknowsastudentisgoingtobeabsentforafullschooldayorlonger,theparent/caregivermustfilloutaSchoolRequestforLeaveFormlocatedintheirdivisionoffice.
FamilyTrips/TravelAspiritofrespectandcooperationisessentialbetweenschoolandfamiliesandadministrationinregardtodaysabsentduetofamilytravel.Parentsareencouragedtoplantravelduringschoolholidaysandbreaksandavoidanyabsencethedaybeforeorafterscheduledschoolholidays.Anydaysmissedwillbeincludedintheeight(8)daylimitforthesemester.Anyworkmissedwhileonafamilytripoutsideofaschoolbreakmustbecompletedandturnedinonthedaythestudentreturnsfromthetrip. CollegeVisitationsEachstudentisallowedthree(3)daysperschoolyeartovisitprospectivecolleges.Whilestudentsareencouragedtouseteacherworkdays,springbreakandotherlongweekendsforcollegevisits,theremaybeoccasionswhenastudentmustmissaregularschoolday,especiallywhentraveltimeisamajorfactor.StudentsshouldscheduleanappointmentwiththeDirectorofCollegeCounselingtodiscusstheproposedvisit.IftheDirectorofCollegeCounselingdeemsthevisitandtimeawayfromschoolareappropriate,thestudentwillbegivenarequestforleaveform.ParentsmustsubmittheUpperSchoolRequestforLeaveFormtotheHeadofUpperSchoolatleastten(10)dayspriortotheabsence.
1. Assignmentsmissedduringcollegevisitationdaysshouldbeturnedintotheteacherpriortotheabsenceunlessotherarrangementsaremadewiththeteacher.
2. CollegevisitationdayswillnotbegrantedduringfinalexamsorothercriticaldayssuchasSharpTop,etc.,oranyotherdayattheAdministration’sdiscretion.
3. Studentswhodonotplancollegevisitsinadvanceanddonotfillouttherequestforleaveformbeforetheirdeparturemaybeaskedtosubtractthedaysabsentfromthetotaleight8forthesemester.
EarlyDismissalforLower,MiddleandUpperSchool(IncludingAthletics)
• Parentsorguardiansmustfirstreporttothefrontofficetosignouttheirchild.Ifastudentneedstoleaveschoolbeforenormaldismissaltime,anoteorphonecallfromtheparentorguardianrequestingearlydismissalmustbecommunicatedtotheofficeonthemorningoftherequestedearlydismissal.Yourcooperationwiththisprocedureisrequiredtominimizeinterruptionstoinstruction.Ofcourse,inanemergency,aparentmaycomedirectlytotheofficetorequestthatastudentbedismissedearly;howeverearlydismissalmayjeopardizeparticipationinextracurricularactivitiesonthatday.
• Ifastudentbecomesillduringtheregularschoolday,theofficeornursewillcalltheparent.Thestudentmayremainintheclinicfornomorethanonehour.Atthattime,thestudentmustbepickedup,returntoclass,ordrivethemselveshome.

• Ifastudentleavescampuswithoutsigningoutintheappropriatefrontofficeorwithoutthepermissionoftheadministration,thatstudentwillbesubjecttodisciplinaryaction.Asareminder,UpperSchoolstudentsarenottoreturntotheirvehicleuntiltheirscheduleddeparturetime,unlessadministrativepermissionisgranted.
• AnUpperSchoolstudentwhowillmissaquizortestduetoanexcusedearlycheckoutwillneedtoarrangeamake-upquiz/testwiththeteacherasdefinedin“Make-UpWork”.
• StudentswillnotbedismissedtothecareofpersonsnotauthorizedontheirStudentEmergencyFormsunlessawritten,verifiablenoteaccompaniesthestudentpriortothepick-uptime.Itistheparent’sresponsibilitytoinformthealternatecaregiversaboutessentialsecurityprocedure.Unfamiliarpersonspickingupstudentswillbeaskedtodisplayadriver’slicensethatwillbecopiedandfiled.
• Theschoolrequestsdivorcedparentstofurnishtheschoolwithacopyofthecustodysectionofthedivorcedecree.Thisinformationhelpstheschoolindeterminingwhen,ifever,thestudentcanbereleasedtothenon-custodialparent.
Make-upWork
• Astudenthasthesamenumberofdaysashe/shewasabsentduetoillnessorcollegevisittomakeupanydailyassignments.Astudentwhodoesnotmakeuptheschoolworkwithinthetimeprescribedwithinthispolicyreceivesnocredit(0)fortheschoolworkmissed.Ifastudentmissesa½dayorless,thestudentandteacher(s)shouldplantocoordinatethemake-upandcompletionofthisworkonthesameday.
• Withregardtotests,ifatestoccursonthefirstdaythestudentisabsent,thestudentshouldplantomakeupthetestonthefirstdayofreturn.Forallothermissedtests,thestudentmustarrangeatimewiththeteacherbeforeorafterschool.
• Studentswillreceivetheappropriategradeearnedonmake-upworkifthemake-upworkhasbeencompletedsatisfactorilywithinthetimespecifiedbytheteacher.
• Itisthestudents’responsibilitytofollowuponmissedwork.• Withregardtoprojects,ifastudentmissesthedaytheprojectisdue,theprojectshould
besubmittedonthedaythestudentreturnstoschool.• Anabsenceonareviewdaybeforeatestdoesnotexcuseastudentfromtakingthetest
uponreturnsincenonewmaterialwasintroduced.LateWorkforUpperSchool
Homework
Dailyhomeworkisassignedtofacilitateclassroomdiscussionortopreparestudentsforconceptstobepresentedinclass.Furthermore,homeworkisusedtohelpstudentsunderstandandreviewtheworkthathasbeencoveredinclass,toseewhetherstudentsunderstandthelesson,andtohelpstudentslearnhowtofindandusemoreinformationonasubject.Ifhomeworkisnotcompletedontime,thestudentisill-preparedtobeaparticipantandalearnerinclass.Theconsequencefornotcompletingdailyhomeworkwillbeazero,andnolatehomeworkwillbeacceptedbyateacherforagrade.

LateWorkforMajorAssignments
Majorassignments(test,projects,andpapers)submittedlatewillreceiveatenpercentdeductionpercalendardaythattheassignmentislate.
GRADINGPOLICIESANDISSUANCEOFCREDITS
MiddleandUpperSchool
• TheSchooloperatesonthesemestersystem.Theregularacademicyearisdividedintotwo(2)semestersofapproximatelyequallength.Coursecreditisbasedonthesemesternumericgradeaverage.
• Toreceiveapassinggradeandearnacreditinayear-longclassastudentmustearnatwosemesteraverageof70orabove.ForallUpperSchoolstudents,ifastudentfailssecondsemester,butpassesfirstsemester,thatstudentwillneedtomakeupsecondsemesterinanaccreditedsummerschool.

AtMountPisgah,weadmitstudentswhomwebelievewillperformwellinourrigorousacademicprogram.However,werecognizethatsomestudentsrequireadditionalsupporttoreachtheirpotential.Studentswhostruggleinaparticularclassareaskedtoworkwiththeirteachersfirst.However,whendifficultiesareconsistentinaparticulardiscipline(e.g.,math)orissuesareidentifiedthatarepervasive(e.g.,readingdifficulties,diagnosedlearningdisabilities,test-takingissues)thefamiliesshouldworkwiththedivisionguidancecounselortoworktowardssolutions.Oftensolutionscanbereachedwithextraattentionandsmartlyappliedeffort.Attendingextrahelpsessionsortutoringmaybesuggested.Insomecases,itmaybewisetoobtainapsycho-educational/psychologicalevaluationbyalicensedpsychologistand/orotherdiagnosticevaluationsasindicated.MiddleandUpperSchoolFormalWrittenInstructionalPlans(FWIP)IntheeventawrittenevaluationisproducedandprovidedtoMountPisgah,parentsmayrequestthataFormalWrittenInstructionalPlan(FWIP)bedeveloped.AFWIPisadocumentthatformallyoutlinesthediagnoseddisabilitiesordisordersofastudentandprescribesfortheteachersanyaccommodationsthatmaybeutilizedtohelpthestudentsucceed.ItisimportanttonotethatFWIPs:

• TheschoolabidesbytheprovisionsoftheBuckleyAmendment,alsoknownastheFamilyEducationalRightsandPrivacyAct.Ifaparentwishestoviewthechild’srecords,theschoolmustreceiveawrittenrequestwitha24-hournotice.ThisschoolabidesbytheprovisionsoftheBuckleyAmendmentwithrespecttotherightofnon-custodialparents.Intheabsenceofacourtordertothecontrary,theschoolwillprovidethenon-custodialparentwithaccesstotheacademicrecordsandtootherschool-relatedinformationregardingthechild.Ifthereisacourtorderspecifyingthatthereistobenoinformationgiven,itistheresponsibilityofthecustodialparenttoprovidetheschoolwithanofficialcopyofthecourtorder.Inaddition,themerepaymentoftuitionorchildsupportpaymentsdoesnot,inandofitself,allowaccesstoeducationalinformationconcerningthechild.Theschoolrequiresdivorcedparentstofurnishtheschoolwithacopyofthecustodysectionofthedivorcedecree.Thisinformationwillalsohelptheschoolindeterminingwhen,ifever,thechildcanbereleasedtothenon-custodialparent.

MountPisgahChristianSchoolsubscribestothebeliefthatchildrenaremostsuccessfulinanenvironmentthatisstimulating,wellorganizedanddevelopmentallyappropriate.Teachersaretrainedtoimplementhealthychoicesandappropriateconsequenceswhilemaintainingarespectfulrelationshipbetweenteacherandstudentbasedonbiblicalfoundationaltruths.Giventhisenvironment,disciplineproblemsaretypicallykepttoaminimum.Intheeventinterventionbecomesnecessaryourfacultyandadministrationmay:offeropportunitiesforthechildtocorrecttheirbehavior;suggestalternativeactivities;givewarningsoftheconsequencesforcontinuedmisbehavior;implementpositiveisolationorconferencewithchildorparentifneeded.Atthediscretionoftheadministrationfurtherinterventionorparentconferencingmaybenecessarytocollaboratetowardsapositivesolutionshouldundesirablebehaviorspersist.

• Vapingande-cigarettes:Thehazardsassociatedwithe-cigarettesandvapingdevicesaresignificant.Studentswhousethesedeliverysystemsareexposedtochemicalsthatmayhaveshortandlong-termhealthhazards.Additionally,asanicotinedeliverysystemthatisnotregulated,adolescentscanbeexposedtohighlevelsoftheaddictivechemical.Vapingdevicescanalsobeusedtodeliveralcoholandmarijuanainsubstantialconcentrations.Asidefromtheaforementionedhealthrisks,theexplosionofe-cigaretteshasledtosevereburnsanddisfigurement.Forallofthereasonsnotedabove,itisourpositionthatourstudentsshouldnotusee-cigarettesorvapingdevices.Shouldanyofourstudentsbefoundtohaveusedthesedevicesatanytimeorplace,includingoffcampus,theywillbesubjecttodisciplinaryaction.

STUDENTBEHAVIORBEYONDTHESCHOOLCAMPUS
WhileMountPisgahChristianSchooldoesnotattempttosupervisetheprivatelivesofstudentsduringnon-schoolhours,itisconcernedwithanyconductthatmaybringdiscreditorharmtotheindividual,thestudentbody,ortheschool.Consequently,theschoolreservestherighttodisciplinesuchbehavior,includingpossiblesuspensionorexpulsion,ifthebehaviorisjudgedtobeinviolationoftheHandbookorisinoppositiontothemissionandmoralstandardsofMountPisgahChristianSchoolregardlessofwhenorwhereittookplace.Studentssubjecttoarrestorotherpoliceaction,shouldtheschoolbeinformedofsuch,willbeaskedtogiveanaccountoftheincidentandmayreceiveacorrespondingpenalty,includingpossiblesuspensionorexpulsion.Inallsituations,theHeadofSchoolisultimatelythecourtoffinalappealandpossessestheresponsibilityandrighttorenderadecisionthatisinthebestinterestofMountPisgahChristianSchool.SocialMediaPolicyThepurposeoftheSocialMediapolicyatMountPisgahChristianistosettheschool’sguidelinesandexpectationsforappropriatesocialmediabehavior.

• UpperSchoolstudentsmusthavepassedsixacademicclassesandmaintainedaminimumaverageof70fortheprecedingsemester.Studentsfailingonecoursemay,atthediscretionoftheAdministration,havelimitationsorrestrictionsplacedontheirathleticparticipation.
• MiddleSchoolstudentswhoarefailingtwoclassesatthequarterorsemestermarkwillbeineligibleforthefollowingquarter.AdmissiontoateamatthequartermarkwillbeatthediscretionofthecoachandAdministration.
• UpperSchoolstudentsfailingtwoormorecoursesareautomaticallyplaceduponacademicprobationfortheperiodofonequarterandwillbeineligibletoparticipateinanyathleticeventsorpracticesuntilgradesareissuedforthenextquarteranditisdeterminedthatthestudentisnowmeetingeligibilityrequirements.

• Fromthetimeastudent(K-12)arrivesonthecampusatMountPisgahuntiltheendoftheacademicschooldayat3:00,studentsareprohibitedfromusinganycellphoneexceptwhenusedforavalidinstructionalorschoolrelatedpurposeasdeterminedbyateacheroradministrator.
• Ifthereisaneedforastudenttohaveacellphoneavailabletohim/herforuseaftertheacademicschoolhours,thestudentmaykeepthecellphoneinhis/herlocker,purse,bookbagandthecellphonemustremainturnedoffandnotvisible.Acellphonethatisinsightorproducesanalarm,ring,oranyothersoundthatcausesadisruptionisinviolation.Phoneswillbeconfiscatedandstudentswillbesubjecttodisciplinaryaction.
• Studentswhoneedtocommunicatewithparentsbecauseofsicknessorothervalidneedswillbeallowedtomakephonecallsatthefrontoffice.
CHILDABUSE/NEGLECT
AllstaffatMountPisgaharerequiredbylaw(GeorgiaCodeSection19-7-5)toprovideprotectionofchildrenwhosehealthandwelfareareadverselyaffectedorthreatenedbytheconductofthoseresponsiblefortheircareandprotection.Inordertoprovidethatprotection,allsuspectsituationswillbereportedtotheDivisionHeadandthentotheHeadofSchool,andthensuchsituationsarereportedtotheDepartmentofFamilyandChildren’sServices(DFACS).
ELEVATORUSE
Studentsarenotpermittedtousetheelevatorinthegym,otherschoolbuildingsorthechurchduringschoolhours.Violationswillbetreatedasadisciplinematter.
FOODANDDRINKS
• Deliveryofoutsidefoodisagainstschoolpolicyandwillresultinareferralforanystudents,INCLUDINGSENIORS,acceptingfood.
• FoodshouldonlybeconsumedintheGeierHallStudentCommons.Nofoodisallowedontheupperfloors.

FitnesstoParticipateinPhysicalEducationIfastudentisunabletoparticipateinPhysicalEducation(P.E.),he/shemusthaveadoctor’snotestatingthereason(s).AcopyofthenoteshouldbegiventotheP.E.teacher,whowillmakenoteofreceiptandforwardthenoteontotheschooloffice.ImmunizationRecords AllstudentsarerequiredtohaveaCertificateofImmunization,andaVision,HearingandDentalScreeningonfilepriortoorconcurrentwiththestartofschool.Theseformsmaybeobtainedfromyourchild’sdoctororthehealthdepartment.Periodicupdatesforimmunizationarerequired,anditistheresponsibilityoftheparenttoseethattheschoolhasthemostrecentform.Studentsmusthaveimmunizationrecordsonfileintheschoolofficeinordertoremaininschool.
MedicalEmergencyPlanTeacherswillassessthesituationand,iftreatable,willdosofollowinghealthandsafetyguidelines.Teacherswillimmediatelynotifyanadministratortocontactparentsforinstructionifasituationcannotbehandled,orinjurytreatedappropriately.Parentswillbenotifiedofallinjuriestotheheadormouth,orinvolvingteeth.Ifthesituationorinjurywarrantsfurthermedicalattention,andparentscannotbereached,anadministratorwillmakethedecisiontocall911.Parentsofstudentswithchronichealthormedicalneedsthatmightwarrantemergencytreatmentshouldhaveacurrentcellphoneonrecordforemergencycontact. • Theparentsorlegalguardiansmustprovidethefollowingbeforemedicationcanbeadministered:StudentHealthRecord2018-2019.
• Atthedesignatedtime,thestudentwillgototheoffice/clinictotakethemedication.Assistanceorsupervisionwillbeinaccordancewiththeinstructionsontheauthorizationform.Sincemedicationisaparentalresponsibility,schoolemployeescannotassumeanyliabilityforsupervisingorassistingintheadministrationofmedication.

LowerSchoolAllstudentswilleatthelunchprovidedinthecafeteriaunlessthereisaspecificdietaryneed.ParentsarewelcometovisitthelowerschoolcafeteriaduringlunchperiodtoeatorvolunteerafterLaborDay.Allvisitorswillpayfortheirlunchwhentheycheckintoreceiveanametaginthelowerschooloffice.Studentsmaybringahealthy,individualservingsnacktobeeatenduringtheschoolday.Nosnacksthatrequirerefrigerationarepermitted.LowerSchoolSpecialDietaryNeedsStudentswithspecificdiagnoseddietaryneedsand/orallergiesmustannuallysummitthephysician’srecommendationtotheschoolclinic.Studentsdiagnosedwithdiabetesorhypoglycemia,whichrequiresadailyfoodsupplement,mustcometotheclinicorschoolofficetoeatthesnack.Studentswithspecificdiagnoseddietaryneedsthatprohibitparticipationinthe

Theadministrationwillmaintaina listofseniorswhohaveparentalpermissionto leavecampusfor lunch.Studentswhohavefreeperiodsimmediatelybeforeorafterlunch,maynotleaveforlunchpriortothelunchperiod,andtheymustreturntocampusbytheendofthelunchperiodunlesstheyhavepermissionfromtheUpperSchooladministration.Onlyseniorsmayleavethecampus,andtheyarenotpermittedtobringfoodordrinksbackforanyone.Seniorstudentsmaydrivetheirownvehiclesand/orrideinthevehiclesofotherstudents,ifpermissible.Pisgahisnotprovidingalistofallowedrestaurants;however,studentsmustremainwithinadistanceofschoolthatassurestheywillreturntocampusontimefortheperiodfollowinglunch.Ifastudentreturnslatetotheperiodafterlunch(evenifthatperiodisastudyhallorfreeperiod)ontwooccasionsduringasemester,heorshewillloseoff-campuslunchprivilegesfortheremainderofthesemester.Studentsareresponsibleforaccountingfortrafficconditionstomakesurethattheyreturntoschoolontime.

Parents ParkingislimitedatMountPisgah.Parentsshouldcarpooltoreducetheamountoftrafficflowduringdrop-offandpick-up.Theuseofhandicapparkingspacesisforthosepersonswithahandicap-parkingsticker.Whenparking,please,useonlyoneparkingspace.Studentsoryoungersiblingsshouldneverbeleftunattendedforanyreasoninparkedcars.StudentsTheprivilegeofdrivingtoschoolandparkingoncampusisaffordedtoeligibleMountPisgahChristianSchoolsophomore,junior,andseniorstudents.EligiblestudentsaredefinedasMountPisgahsophomores,juniors,andseniorswhoholdavalidGeorgiaoroutofstatelicense.Studentsandparents/caregiversmustreadandsigntheStudentParkingPolicyandProceduresPolicybeforetheyareissuedaparkingdecal.Itistheschool’sexpectationthatstudentswilloperatemotorvehiclesinasafemannerandinaccordancewiththelawsoftheStateofGeorgia.

Theearlychildhoodplayground(betweenAandDbuildings)isONLYforuseofchildren5yearsandyounger.Schoolfamiliesmayusetheplaygroundfacilitieswhentheyarenotinusebyschoolprograms.Duringschoolhours,studentsareunderdirectsupervisionofschoolstaffpersonnel.Afterschoolhours,studentsarenotpermittedtoplayontheplayground,blacktop,kickballfieldoranyoutdoorplayareawithoutaparentorsupervisingadultpresent.Siblingsofstudentsarenotpermittedtoplayonplaygroundduringschoolhours.Petsarenotpermittedontheplaygroundoroutdoorplayareas.

Thispolicyisprovidedsothatstudentsandparentsareawareoftheresponsibilitiesstudentsacceptwhentheyusepersonalorschool-ownedcomputerhardware,applicationsoftware,datafiles,electronicmail,digitizedinformation,communicationtechnologies,andnetworkaccessonthecampusofMountPisgahChristianSchool(MPCS).Ingeneral,thisrequiresefficient,ethical,andlegalutilizationofalltechnologyresources.
EXPECTATIONS BringYourOwnDevice(BYOD)Responsibilities
• Grade9-12studentsareexpectedtobringtheirownlaptopsthatmeetthedevicespecificationsprovidedtoparents.
• Theprimaryuseoflaptopsisforlearningandinstruction,solaptopsshouldnotincludesoftwarethatwillbeadistractionfromlearning.Anythingthatreducesthelaptop’suseintheclassroomshouldberemoved(thisincludesgames,applications,filters,settingstoconnecttoyourhomegamingsystem,etc.)andanysoftwarerequiredforclassmustbeaccessibleonthelaptop.

CopyrightinfringementincludingplagiarismusingtheinternetareviolationsoftheMPCSHandbookandhonorcode.ConsequencesforplagiarismwillbehandledthroughtheHonorCouncil.Studentsareexpectedtocomplywithtrademark,copyrightlawandalllicensingrequirementsandagreements.
UNACCEPTABLECONDUCT
