2 Central New Mexico Community College | 2018 CNM Foundation Annual Report
Dear CNM Foundation Supporters,
I want to express my deep appreciation for the great work of the CNM Foundation, the CNM Foundation Board members and the wonderful donors who enrich our community by supporting the success of CNM students. The support you provide to our students truly brings the CNM Vision – “Changing Lives, Building Community” – to life.
Your generosity continues to help so many of our students overcome challenges and reach the life-changing milestone of becoming a college graduate. And each time a student becomes a college graduate, it not only greatly improves their prospects for a good career and a good life, but it also contributes to stronger families and a healthier community.
That’s why we relentlessly focus on helping more students persevere and graduate.
For the second time in the past three years, CNM ranks No. 1 in the country for the number of associate degrees and certificates earned by both Native Americans and Hispanics. And for the second time in three years, we also rank No. 2 overall for the number of degrees and certificates awarded.
We continue to focus on implementing leading-edge efforts that prepare our students for success in the modern world, which in turn supports community success and economic success. I am so proud of our faculty and staff, who continue to excel at implementing major initiatives that will help us keep our momentum going for many years to come.
But there are always more challenges for us to tackle as we proudly continue to be our community’s college. We will never rest on our successes. We will always be a champion for the power of community college education, and a champion for a better quality of life for everybody in central New Mexico. We have amazing faculty and staff who are so passionate about our Vision of “Changing Lives, Building Community.” And we’re always ready to step up for our community. But, like everybody else, we could use some help from our good friends. That’s why the CNM Foundation’s “Step Up Campaign” to raise $20 million by 2020 is so important. The money raised through this campaign will go toward a variety of efforts that are strategically focused on supporting economic development, entrepreneurship, innovation and the cutting-edge technology that our students need to succeed in tomorrow’s economy.
The CNM Foundation has made great progress toward its very ambitious goal of $20 million by 2020. And we are so grateful to everybody who has stepped up to not only support CNM and our students, but to support a brighter future for central New Mexico.
To all of our CNM Foundation supporters, thanks again for your heart-warming generosity and for your continued support of CNM and our Vision of “Changing Lives, Building Community.”
Sincerely,
Dr. Katharine W. Winograd
CNM President
2018 CNM Foundation Annual Report | Central New Mexico Community College 3
Dear Friends of the CNM Foundation,
As a native New Mexican and avid community volunteer, I know the challenges our community faces. This is why it is an honor to serve the CNM Foundation as Board President.
Each and every day, the CNM Foundation is committed to fulfilling its mission that no student should be denied the opportunity for an education or vocational training due solely to a lack of financial resources.
Contributions to the CNM Foundation supports its diverse students which include recent high school graduates, current high school students taking CNM dual-credit classes, later learners returning for a career change, professionals leveling up with a new skill or certification, or students taking the first two years of a bachelor’s degree.
During the 2017-2018 academic year, thanks to our valued donors over $1.3 million were raised to assist non-traditional students to achieve their goals.
Did you know that every time a CNM student graduates, not only does the student benefit greatly, but so does their family, our community and our economy? On average, the income for individuals with an associate’s degree increase $10,700 more per year, compared to someone with a high school diploma.
To all members of the CNM Foundation giving community, I thank you. You truly are changing lives and building community.
Sincerely,
Barbara Lewis
CNM Foundation Board President
