March 2018

Welcome participants!

Canadian Mining Magazine has been a leading industry publication for over a decade. We are proud to have just printed our 50th edition; it’s great to use this milestone as an opportunity to look back on our magazine’s history—where we started, how far we’ve come. We are eager to look to the future, too, as we continue to tell the stories that matter most to the men and women who work in this sector (190,000 strong according to MiHR’s latest data!).

Starting in 2018, readers will notice a new and improved magazine – one that is characterized by a For Industry, By Industry line-up. The publication will feature articles written by industry’s leading experts on everything from forecasting, economic activity, safety, new technologies and innovations, human resource challenges and opportunities, junior-mine specific stories, and more.

The mining industry is growing and this is creating renewed confidence. According to PwC, there is a rising number of projects, financings, mergers and acquisitions from the top 100 mining companies on the TSX. In fact, equity financing soared to $2.04 billion (it was $746 million a year ago). From coast to coast, mining is driving economic expansion. It is the largest employer of Aboriginal people in Canada, pays the highest average annual wage in the country ($115,000 per year), and contributes billions to Canada’s GDP ($56 billion in 2015).

Canadian Mining Magazine’s reach is growing too – with more subscribers, event distribution and online hits than ever before. Subscribers include management of junior and senior mining companies, venture capitalists, investors, mining association representatives, researchers, university and college mining-program administrators, and many more, and every issue is globally accessible via our website.

Direct mail recipients include subscribers from many of the world’s largest mining companies, including representatives from Agnico-Eagle Mines Ltd., Areva Resources Canada Inc., Barrick Gold Corporation, Goldcorp Inc., Hudbay Minerals Inc., Imperial Oil Ltd., Syncrude Canada, Teck Resources Ltd., Rio Tinto, Vale, and Natural Resources Canada (to name a few). Our publication is also direct-mailed to all mining-related ministers in Canada, to the colleges and universities which educate our future miners, and to the national and provincial mining associations across Canada.

In 2018, the magazine will be distributed at major events like PDAC, CIM, the Global Petroleum Show, Xplor 2018, Mines and Money Americas, Quebec Mines, and more. Please see the bonus distribution page in this media kit.

New online services are driving traffic to the site too. In 2016, the website had 7,819 visitors to the site. In 2017, this number jumped to 11,197, and early 2018 data indicates this year will be even more impressive. With every issue of the magazine posted online as it goes to press, several new and interesting Blog posts going up each month, and an ever-expanding Facebook following (2,300 in 2016, growing to over 3,672 as of March 2018), it is clear that the magazine, website and Facebook page have become a destination for those who want to stay informed about Canada’s mining industry. If you’re interested in advertising opportunities related to the website, Blog and social media, please consult your sales representative.

A representative from Canadian Mining Magazine will contact you soon to discuss this opportunity. We look forward to working with you in 2018!
