2018 Trauma and Critical Care Symposium Objectives This one-day connuing medical educaon acvity is designed to provide physicians and other healthcare pro- viders with current educaon and management strategies on a variety of topics focused on caring for crical adult, pediatric and trauma paents. Wesley des- ignates this live acvity for a maximum of 7 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their parcipaon in the acvity. Nurses: Wesley Medical Center is approved as a provider of CNE by the Kansas State Board of Nursing. This course offering is approved for 7 contact hours applicable for RN or LPN relicensure. Kansas State Board of Nursing provider #LT0085-0327. Respiratory therapists: The Wesley Medical Center CEU Evaluator has approved this program for 8.4 hours of Respiratory Connuing Educaon on behalf of the Kansas Respiratory Care Society, a chapter society of the AARC. Providership # KRCS 029 EMT/Paramedics: Wesley Medical Center, as an approved provider by the Kansas Board of EMS, has approved this offering for 7 connuing educaon hours towards EMT/ MICT relicensure (provider# PP3369). Faculty

Brooke L.W. Nesmith, MD, JDDr. Nesmith received both an MD and JD at the University of Kansas, schools of Medicine and Law. She completed her Ophthalmology residency at the Universi-ty of Louisville School of Medicine and her Vitreo-Retinal Fellowship at the New Your Eye and Ear of Mount Sinai in New York. She currently practices with the Vitreo-Retinal Consultants and Surgeons in Wichita.

Donald Vasquez, DO, MPH, FACOSDr. Vasquez is a trauma surgeon and surgical intensivist at Wesley Medical Center. He serves as the director of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit. He completed his surgical residency at Ohio University and a trauma/critical care fellowship at Grant Medical Center.

Jacob AuBuchon, MD – Visiting SpeakerDr. AuBuchon received his medical degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine. He is certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology: Pain Management as well as Pediatric Anesthesiology, and is a member of the Society of Pediatric Anesthesia. He currently is an Assistant Professor of Anesthe-siology: Pediatric Anesthesia/Pain Management, and Director of Pediatric Pain Management-St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

Fernando Salgado, MDDr. Salgado is a Board Certified Anesthesiologist and Board Certified in Critical Care, Neurocritical Care, and Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography. He re-ceived his MD from the Universidad Nacional de La Plata, Argentina, and completed his Anesthesiology Residency at the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wich-ita. He completed his fellowship in Critical Care at Massachusetts General Hospital, and Transesophageal Echocardiography training at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

David Acuna, DO, FACOSDr. Acuna received his medical degree from Ohio University College of Osteo-pathic Medicine and completed a surgical residency at Grandview Hospital and Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio. Dr. Acuna is board certified by the American Os-teopathic Board of Surgery in general surgery and surgical critical care. Dr. Acuna is the Adult Trauma Department Medical Director at Wesley Medical Center.

Jacob Arnett, MDDr. Arnett is a Board Certified Pediatric Anesthesiologist. He is president of Wichita Anesthesiology Chartered and chair of Anesthesiology at Wesley Medical Center. He completed his education at the University of Kansas and his residency at the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita. He completed his fellow-ship in Pediatric Anesthesiology at the Boston Children’s Hospital.

Miles Reimer, MDiv, BCCMiles Reimer, MDiv, BCC is the director for Pastoral Care and Education at Wesley Healthcare, which includes the Clinical Pastoral Education program for resident chaplains. While chaplains are spiritual care specialists, Reimer has a passion to promote all staff at Wesley as spiritual care generalists. A daily goal for his Pastoral Care staff is to promote patient and family voices as key players in the interdisciplinary team.
