Florence Township Community Garden
The Florence Township Community Garden was first establish in 2017 and was in its second year in 2018. The garden is located where the former Marconi Lodge once stood at West Third and Foundry Streets. Residents who are selected by lottery each get a chance to participate in gardening.
We look forward to additional community gardens in the township in the future as well as other projects to beautify the town.
Second Avenue approach is the new divider island where the bend at Hornberger Avenue was eased and the island was installed with plantings.
East Front Street Park near Chestnut Street where the hillside was trimmed and a new split rail fence was installed. This park is also getting a small picnic area established as well as benches.

The mission of the Roebling Museum is to document, preserve and exhibit the history of the John A. Roebling’s Sons Company, the Roebling family and the village of Roebling. Its focus is not only on the industrial and technological achievements of the company but on the unique social history of its workforce and the town it created.
The Museum bridges a storied past to the present by providing exhibits and programs directed at the interests of the worldwide public while also serving as a valuable resource for school curriculum enhancement programs and academic research.

Roebling American Legion Post #39: Meeting - November 21, 2019 - 7:30 pm
The Roebling American Legion Post #39 was organized on November 14th, 1927, with 80 members attending the first meeting. Named for Paul Willits and William Hogan, two World War I Army veterans who made the supreme sacrifice, and James R Tonne, who died during the Second World War, and whose name was added on June 20,1946. At its peak, the Roebling post had a total of 427 members.
On New Years Day, 1969 a tragic fire destroyed the original building and a new building (above) was rebuilt and dedicated on December 10th, 1971. Today, American Legion Post 39 remains an active home for many of our township veterans.

Florence Township Annual Municipal Stormwater Information
Dear Residents and Business Owners: As you may be aware, the State of New Jersey requires all municipalities to distribute certain information each year relating to the protection of our water resources and stormwater management. This letter will give you a basic overview and information about what Florence Township does to promote water protection and stormwater management in our community. Florence Township has several ordinances that relate to stormwater management and protection of our water resources. Chapter 123 of the Township Code regulates Pet Waste, Littering, Improper Disposal of Waste, Wildlife Feeding, Yard Waste, Refuse Containers, and Illicit Connections to storm collection systems. Littering is unlawful on public and private lands and this includes scattering of handbills, circulars and other forms of advertisement. Trash, tires and other items are regarded as waste and should be in enclosed containers with tight fitting lids that prevent spillage. The feeding of unconfined wildlife such as Canadian Geese, migratory birds or other large numbers of wildlife is prohibited. Dense wildlife numbers in the state have contributed to concerns of feces polluting streams, rivers, ponds and lakes. Even pet waste should be cleaned up immediately from public and private lands and disposed of properly. Illicit connections to stormwater collection systems are another concern that contributes to a multitude of pollutants of our waterways. Some types of illicit connections include: sewer or gray water discharge, floor drains in contaminated areas, unprotected yard or roof drains, etc. Chapter 91-75 and its corresponding sections of the Township Code address design standards for construction and public and private storm drain inlet retrofitting. The state and the township require that new construction or land development applications meet a series of tests to verify that each new project conforms to the latest best management practices for stormwater management and water protection. In addition, storm drain inlets are required to be retrofitted any time a qualifying work takes place on or near the inlet. You may be familiar with inlet retrofitting because you can see the smaller size of the openings on the grate and back portion of the inlet components. This smaller opening acts to prevent trash and debris from entering the stormwater system and finding its way to our rivers, lake and streams. For more information on the municipal code, stormwater management, and water protection measures, please visit the Florence Township Website at www.florence-nj.gov and click on the link for Stormwater Management under the Documents tab on the left side of the page. Thank you for taking the time to read this information and for your concern for the environment.
