1 2019 JLPT Test Site Information – Newark, NJ Test Date: Sunday, December 1, 2019 Test Location: Stafford Hall, Seton Hall University 400 South Orange Ave., South Orange, NJ 07079 Reporting Time and Test Schedule: Please arrive at the test site during the scheduled reporting time. Upon arriving at the test site, report to your assigned classroom. You must present your admission voucher (print out) and proper photo identification to a proctor in order to be allowed into the classroom. Since the test takes place during winter, when severe weather could affect roads and public transportation, please make sure you allow for extra time to reach the test site as well as to return home.     What to Bring to the Test Site: You MUST bring the following items to the test site. 1. Your admission voucher. 2. A valid form of photo ID. Copies are not accepted.

    § Acceptable forms of official identification include driver’s license, passport, or student ID. Social security cards, credit or ATM cards, and retail credit cards are not acceptable.

    § The name on your voucher must match the name on the official ID that you bring to the test center.

    § It is your responsibility to ensure that your official ID is valid and available on the day of the test.

    § ID checks are strictly enforced. If you arrive at the test center without a valid ID, you will not be permitted to take the test.

    3. Several sharpened No. 2 or HB pencils and an eraser for multiple-choice answer sheets. Pencils and erasers will not be supplied at the test center. Pens are NOT permitted.

    4. An analog watch. (We do not provide a clock in the classroom.) Do NOT bring a watch that beeps. Digital watches are not allowed. You cannot use your cell phone as a timepiece.

    Prohibited Materials: Do Not Bring the Following Items to the Test Site: 1. Electronic devices or media such as PDAs, pagers, computers, recording devices, etc. 2. A watch that beeps or has an alarm. 3. Handwritten or printed materials. 4. Food or drinks, except water in a clear bottle with no label and with a secure lid.

    The water bottle must be stored in your bag under your seat, not on your desk, during the test.

    5. Cell phones All cell phones must be completely turned off and stored during the test. If your phone makes any noise for whatever reason, including incoming calls, vibrate mode, accidents, etc., we will void your test score and you will not receive a score for the test.

    Note: If you are traveling from a distance and have any prohibited items or a travel bag with you, you must leave your belongings with a proctor at your designated classroom during the test. Your personal bag should be kept under your seat and should not block any walkways. General Testing Guidelines: • Dress so that you can adapt to any room temperature. • Guests who accompany you to the test center are not allowed in the classroom. • You are not allowed to leave the test room until a proctor dismisses you. If you get sick during

    the test and must leave the room, you must notify the proctor so that the proctor can accompany you out of the room.

    DIRECTIONS BY CAR

    From the West Take I-78 E and stay in the local lanes. Exit at 49B (Maplewood) and make the second right (a jug handle) onto Valley Street. Turn right onto South Orange Avenue.

    From the East Take I-78 W and take Exit 50B (Millburn), and turn right onto Vauxhall Road, right onto Valley Street and right onto South Orange Ave.

    From the North Take the Garden State Parkway South to Exit 145 onto I-280. Take Exit 11B, Day Street/Essex Avenue, Orange. Make a left onto South Day Street. Make a left onto Freeway Drive East. Turn right onto South Center Street (road ends at South Orange Ave and gates to Seton Hall).

    From the South Take the Garden State Parkway North to exit 142B (I-78 West) and follow the directions for "From the East"

    DIRECTIONS BY TRAIN

    Morristown Line (Morris and Essex lines) Take the train to South Orange station and walk approximately 3/5 mile on South Orange Avenue to the University Gladstone Branch (Morris and Essex lines) Take the train to South Orange station and walk approximately 3/5 mile on South Orange Avenue to the University.

    Montclair Boonton Line Take the train to Newark Broad Street station and then transfer to either the Morristown or Gladstone Branch trains to South Orange Station. Walk approximately 3/5 mile on South Orange Avenue to the University. Northeast Corridor Line (Trenton or Princeton) Take the train to the Secaucus Junction and then transfer to either the Morristown or Gladstone Branch trains to South Orange Station. Walk approximately 3/5 mile on South Orange Avenue to the University.

    Alternate: Take the train to Newark Penn Station, and then take the South Orange Avenue bus #31 Maplewood along Market Street to South Orange Avenue to the University. Main & Bergen County Line (Mahwah)

    Take the train to the Secaucus Junction and then transfer to either the Morristown or Gladstone Branch trains to South Orange Station. Walk approximately 3/5 mile on South Orange Avenue to the University. Pascack Valley Line Take the train to the Secaucus Junction and then transfer to either the Morristown or Gladstone Branch trains to South Orange Station. Walk approximately 3/5 mile on South Orange Avenue to the University. North Jersey Coast Line and Raritan Valley Line Take the train to Newark Penn Station, and then take the South Orange Avenue bus #31 Maplewood along Market Street to South Orange Avenue to the University.

    DIRECTIONS BY AIR

    When planning to visit Seton Hall University from out of state, Newark Liberty International Airport is the closest and most convenient airport to campus.

    DIRECTIONS BY BUS

    From New York Port Authority Take NJ Transit Bus #107/X to Ward Place. Walk approximately 1/5 mile to the University. From Newark Liberty International Airport (North Terminal) Take NJ Transit bus #107/X to Ward Place. Walk approximately 1/5 mile to the University. From Newark Take South Orange Avenue bus #31 Maplewood from Penn Station along Market Street to South Orange Avenue to the University. From Irvington Terminal Take NJ Transit bus #107/X to Ward Place. Walk approximately 1/5 mile to the University. From Bloomfield Center Take NJ Transit bus #92 to South Orange Village. Walk approximately 3/5 mile on South Orange Avenue to the University. From Orange, East Orange Grove Street Area: Take NJ Transit bus #90 to South Orange Avenue. Walk approximately 3/5 mile to the University.

    Main Street and Day Street Area: Take NJ Transit bus #92 along Scotland Road to South Orange Village. Walk approximately 3/5 mile on South Orange Avenue to the University. From Jersey City Take PATH train or NJ Transit bus #1 to Penn Station. Transfer to South Orange Avenue bus #31 Maplewood to the University. From Springfield, Chatham, Morristown Take NJ Transit bus #70 to the Maplewood Loop (Millburn Avenue and Valley Street). Transfer to South Orange Avenue bus #31 at Valley Street to the University.

    Parking: A visitor-parking permit (free of charge) is required to park a vehicle on Seton Hall University campus and may be obtained at any of the guard booths as you enter campus. Please park at Parking Deck, the most convenient to Stafford Hall (Test site, Campus map #18).
