Daar is deesdae ‘n nuwe vrien-delike gesig by die Limpopo Vet Shop in Louis Trichardt in die persoon van die welbek-ende me. Annette Kennealy. Sy het beheer oorgeneem van die troeteldierwinkel in die Safari-sentrum langs die N1.
Baie inwoners sal egter vra waarom dié groot sprong vanaf die politiek na die sakewêreld. Hieroor is Annette baie eerlik en sê sy het net nie meer kans gesien vir die trauma en drama van die politieke arena nie. Sy het onder meer vir jare lank gedien as DA-raadslid op beide die plaaslike- en distriksmuni-sipaliteit.
In Oktober verlede jaar het die geleentheid hom voorgedoen om vir iemand vir ‘n dag by die winkel in te staan. “Van kleins af is ek baie lief vir diere. Ek het die dag gewerk en besef:
Ek hou hiervan!” sê Annette. Sy het dadelik kontak gemaak met Blouberg Dierekliniek, wat die winkel as “satelliet” onderneming bedryf het. Die papierwerk is afgehandel en op 1 Desember het sy beheer oorgeneem van die winkel, met mnre. Freddie Harris en Ger-hard Klopper van Blouberg as medevennote.
Annette is eweneens bekend vir haar kunstigheid en is tans in die proses om die hele uitleg en aanslag van die winkel te verander. “Ek wil graag ‘n meer ‘kuier’ atmosfeer by die winkel skep,” sê Annette. Te midde van al die gewerskaf tans, is die win-kel steeds oop vir sake. Annette beplan om alle opknappings teen einde Februarie af te handel.

Sy het inwo-ners genooi om ‘n draai te kom maak of hulle te skakel .

municipality has no intention of re-compiling the controversial valuation roll. There are, however, several issues regarding the valuation process, after the withdrawal by Nkuna, which raises questions regarding the legitimacy of the valuation roll as a legally binding document.
The Municipal Property Rates Act (MPRA) clearly states that only a registered professional valuer can conduct a municipal valuation process, from the initial compilation of the valuation roll right through to the objections and appeals phase. With regard to Nkuna’s withdrawal from the pro-cess in May, before the objection phase had been fi nalised, the municipality was asked whom they had appointed as regis-tered professional valuer in Nkuna’s place to han-dle the objections? In re-sponse to this question, Bobodi merely stated that the process “was completed” by the time Nkuna withdrew. This is debatable, as the offi cial responses residents received in June 2014 regard-ing their objections was not signed by Nkuna nor any other registered professional valuer, but by the municipal manager, Mr Sakkie Mutshinyali, who is not a registered professional valuer.
The municipality was also asked who, as re-quired by law, had certifi ed the completed 2014 to 2018 valuation roll before its fi nal approval for implementation. Here Bobodi’s answer was once again vague, merely stating that it had been signed by a “professional valuer as appointed by the Makhado Local Municipality.”
It has been almost seven months since the implementation of the new valuation roll and the process is still not completed. According to the
MPRA, an appeal board should be appointed to handle residents’ appeals if their objections were declined. The appeal board can only be formed and its members appointed by the MEC for Local Government through an offi cial notice in the pro-vincial Gazette. Additionally, the MPRA states that at least one of the members on the board should be a registered professional valuer.
Asked how far the municipality had progressed with regard to addressing the appeals and who the members of the board were, Bobodi indicated that they were “still awaiting appointment of a valuer to serve on the appeal [board] since the valuer who used to serve on the appeal board passed on.” He added that the names of the board members would be made available as soon as the Department of Co-
operative Governance, Human Settlement and Traditional Affairs ap-pointed a valuer. When this will happen is not clear.
In the meantime, Mr Tinus Nel of DDP Val-
uers has also confi rmed their appointment as mu-nicipal valuer for Makhado. According to him, they were appointed to do supplementary valuations with regard to the 2014 to 2018 valuation roll. “To us, this means that we have to look at all properties again and release a supplementary valuation roll by around April 2015,” Nel said and added that they were already busy with the process.
Regarding the High Court, Nel said that residents should remember that the court had only set aside the appointment of Nkuna as valuer and had not set aside the valuation roll. “No court will, after its implementation, declare a valuation roll null and void as it would effectively leave the munici-pality without an income until the roll is corrected again,” Nel said.

A South African businessman operating a safari farm outside Beit Bridge in Zimbabwe, Mr Fredrick Wilhelm August Lu-tzkie, got a reprieve last week after he was temporarily given back his passport to enable him to travel to South Africa for medical assistance.
Lutzkie (52) was jailed for an effective three-and-a half years last year after crashing his helicopter in Zimbabwe and burying the wreckage. This was after he had illegally entered the country without the permission of the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ).
He then contested the sentence
and was subsequently released on US$25 000 bail, pending his appeal against the sentence. Lutz-kie, who was ordered to surrender his passport as part of the bail conditions, got his passport back after an application by his lawyer, Mr Thabani Mpofu, who argued that his client wanted to visit his doctor in South Africa.
The travel document was then released to Lutzkie until 20 Feb-ruary to enable him to travel to South Africa for treatment.
Lutzkie pleaded guilty last June to 14 counts of contra-vening the Civil Aviation and Immigration Acts and he was sentenced to seven years in jail
by a Harare magistrate. Three-and-a-half years of the sentence were conditionally suspended. It was testifi ed that between 1 and 28 February last year, Lutzkie fl ew his helicopter from South Africa to Doddieburn Safari Farm outside Beit Bridge without permission from the CAAZ. On 5 May, he crashed the helicopter shortly after take-off from his farm. He then secretly dug a pit with an excavator and buried the wreckage of the helicopter on the farm. Some villagers spotted the wreckage and they informed the police, who investigated. Lutzkie handed himself over to the police a few weeks later.

Philip Arnoldus Venter (58), die voormalige leraar van die NG Kerk Soutpansberg-gemeente, het weer op 15 Januarie hier in die Distrikshof verskyn. Hy word daarvan aangekla dat hy gedurende April 2006, onder valse voorwendsels, besit ge-neem het van drie van me. Cecile Steyn se vuurwapens. Venter sou haar glo onder die indruk gebring het dat hy ‘n geregistreerde wa-pen handelaar is en dat hy die nodige magtiging gehad het om die wapens in sy besit te neem. Die wapens het intussen vermis
geraak.Daar is reeds vroeër in die saak
getuig dat Venter op 6 Februarie 2010 skriftelik aan Steyn sou er-ken het dat hy nog haar wapens in sy besit het. Venter se weergawe is dat hy glo die wapens aan sy oorlede vriend, mnr. Tewie Wes-sels, gegee het om te deaktiveer gedurende 2009.
Tydens Venter se laaste hof-verskyning, in November verlede jaar, het lt.kol. Bez Bezuidenhout klaar getuig vir die Staat. Sy getuienis het aan die lig gebring dat Venter nooit as ‘n wapen-handelaar geregistreer was, of enige bevoegdheid of magtiging gehad het om Steyn se wapens in sy besit te hê of dit te hanteer nie.

het Venter se advokaat, mnr. Neil Duvenhage, probeer om nie net vir Bezuidenhout nie, maar ook die hele Makhado polisiekan-toor te diskrediteer. Duvenhage het ook ‘n aansoek gebring dat Venter se saak uit die hof gegooi moet word.
Hierdie aansoek is egter deur die hof van die hand gewys, en Duvenhage sou na verwagting verlede week getuies geroep het om Venter se kant van die saak te stel.
Weens ‘n oorvol hofrol kon die Staat egter nie verlede week aangaan met die saak nie en moes ‘n ander datum gereël word.
Venter sal weer op 12 en 13 Februarie in die hof moet ver-skyn.
Saak teen leraar word weereens uitgestel
Die Christelik Maatskaplike Raad (CMR) in Louis Trichardt het hul opregte dank uitgespreek teenoor die Roadhogs Motorfi etsklub vir hul skenking van ‘n groot aantal sagte speelgoed wat deur die klub ingesamel is. “Die Roadhogs skenk gereeld vir die CMR speelgoed en benodigdhede om behoeftige kinders se harte bly te maak,” sê die CMR. A baby girl was found abandoned in Hospital Street, near the Louis Trichardt Memorial Hospital, on New Year’s Eve.
The little baby, who was approximately one month old, was found at about 14:00 by members of the community. The Makhado SAPS were alerted and the baby was taken to the police station before being taken to the hospital. Nurses at the Louis Trichardt Memorial Hospital have confi rmed that the baby is healthy and being taken good care of. When Limpopo Mirror visited the hospital last Thursday, the baby was well fed and looked healthy. She was playing on the hospital bed like nothing had happened

Sigidi said that they were waiting to hear from the social worker, because there were families who were willing to adopt the baby. “The outcome (of the report) will also determine if the child will be transferred to a place of safety,” he said.
Sigidi thanked the hospital staff, police offi cers, social workers and community members who contributed towards the safety of the special baby. “It is our joint duty to make sure that children receive the best love, care and affection, because God has brought them into this world for special reasons. We would like to convey our gratitude to everyone who contributed to save the life of this beautiful baby.”

Louis Trichardt will play host to a unique debate surround-ing the theme Did Jesus claim to be God? on 7 February.
Residents are invited to join the conversation as a Muslim and a Christian discuss their views on the nature of Jesus Christ. Was Jesus a mere proph-et, as Muslims believe, or is He God in the flesh, as believed by
Christians? In order to answer this question, Maulana Abu Bakr Akoo and Pastor Paul Schlehlein will be debating the claims of Jesus from the Bible.

A 30-year-old bank empoloyee appeared in the Musina Mag-istrate’s Court last Wednesday in connection with a case of fraud.
The employee, who cannot be named at this stage, due to intensive investigations which are ongoing, was arrested on 13 January after it was discovered
that he was allegedly using the banks’ property or systems to transfer money from different business accounts to his own account.
“He is alleged to have de-frauded the bank of about R89 300,” said the spokesperson for the Musina police, Const Dakalo Ramagwede.
Ramagwede revealed that the suspect had been under inves-tigation since last year and that it seemed that the investigators had finally found solid, reliable evidence which could be used in court.
The suspect was granted R1 000 bail. He will appear in court again on 30 January.

The eight-year battle for seven households from Tshikota to get their sewage problems sorted out still continues and it seems to be far from coming to an end with a clear resolution.
This was brought to the Zoutpansberger’s atten-tion last week by concerned families who claim that municipal workers came and only fixed one part of the problem instead of addressing the whole sewerage system in the area.
“They successfully fixed the sewage problem at the back of my house and no faecal water can be seen storming onto the back of my house any longer,” Ms Iris Mogoro, of house number 2025, acknowledged. “Now the problem is that they have dug a deep trench which almost encircles my yard. The trench is always open, smelly, and there are a lot of mosquitoes which invade my yard and finally find their way into my house.”
The trench was dug around November last year.Magoro added that her youngest daughter,
aged 14, had gone to bed three days before on an empty stomach and still could not take breakfast the following morning after complaining about the stench from the trench. “She said the smell of faeces assailed her nose and killed her appetite,” she complained. “I am her mother and it pains me when my child cannot eat. She needs nutrition, so

of green lawn, which could be ideal for resting on during sunny days. However, the family is afraid of mowing the lawn and using it for lounging on, lest they catch a disease as the grass might have been contaminated with possible viruses and germs from the open sewer.
On Friday and Saturday, the Zoutpansberger vis-ited Tshikota and noticed that there were also two sewer streams which continued their courses in the open on the other side of the street, emptying into the hazardous trench. Two children, who looked no more than five years of age, were playing near the trench, eating mangos.
An electrical line to Magoro’s house and another pipe run inside the open trench, always drenched with fresh sewage. “I have lost hope already, but the pain in me and the faeces which surrounds us push me to complain,” Magoro said.
When contacted for comment, the Vhembe Dis-trict Municipality’s media liaison officer, Mr Moses Shibambu, said that he thought the problem had already been addressed when he had first brought the matter to the officials’ attention in November last year. However, he then promised that the workers would visit the affected area immediately.

Dit is ook nie wys om iets soos ‘n skootrekenaar in die kattebak toe te sluit in ‘n parkeerarea ten aanskoue van almal nie.

Die 2015 leerlingraad van Laerskool Louis Trichardt het die nuwe jaar afgeskop met ‘n groot verrassing vir die skool.
Hulle het op die eerste skooldag van 2015 ‘n nuwe toevoeging tot die Triegie-familie gemaak tydens saalopening, met die bekendstelling van ‘n eie gelukbringer (mascot) vir die skool, naamlik Triegie Duiker.
Triegie Duiker mag egter slegs in Triegieland aanbly solank as wat die leerlinge van die skool aan die hoof, mnr. Louis Linde, se voorwaardes voldoen.
Dit behels dat elke Triegie aan ten minste een sportsoort en een kultuuraktiwiteit moet deelneem, asook alle skoolbyeenkomste bywoon om hul
mede-Triegies te ondersteun. Verder verwag Linde dat elke Triegie hard moet leer en na eie vermoë presteer. Laastens moes die leerlinge aan die hoof bewys dat hulle ‘n wengees het en waardig is om die verrassing te ontvang.
Die leerders se deelname, bywoning en prestasie sal deur die loop van die jaar gemonitor word om te bepaal of die Duiker ook in 2016 en toekomstige jare by die skool mag aanbly. Die Triegies en hulle onderwysers het bewys dat hulle ‘n wengees het deur die skoolkreet so hard te skree dat Linde nie anders kon as om in te stem nie.
Die prefekte het onderneem om die leerders te motiveer en toe te sien dat elke leerder hul belofte nakom.

Die nuwe Graad R’e van Laerskool Louis Trichardt het verlede Woensdag ‘n spesiale besoek van die skool se gelukbringer, Triegie Duiker, ontvang. Police destroy illegal shacks at dumping site
Die Subtropiese Kwekersver-eniging (Subtrop) het hierdie week weereens vermaan dat die verkoop van onvolwasse avokados (wat nie behoorlik ryp word nie) verbode is in terme van die Wet op Land-bouprodukstandaarde.
“Inspekteurs van die Depar-tement van Landbou, Bosbou en Visserye sal avoka-do volwassenheid van vroeg in die seisoen op die markte begin toets. Indien onvolwasse avokados gevind word, sal die verkoop van hier die vrugte verbied word,” sê Subtrop in ‘n persverklaring.
In die verlede is on-volwasse avokados wat deur die inspekteurs gevind is, afgegradeer na “laagste graad”, maar dit kon nog steeds verkoop word. Sedert 2014 word die verkoop van onvolwasse vrugte egter totaal verbied.
“Avokadoprodusen-te word aangeraai om seker te maak dat hulle vrugte voldoen aan die vereiste volwassenhe-idstandaard voor dit ge-pluk word,” is Subtrop se raad.
Die vereniging wys produsente daarop dat vir die kultivar Fuerte,
die vrugte se voginhoud 80% of minder moet wees.
“Betroubare avokadopakhuise is almal in staat om die vereiste volwassenheidstoetse uit te voer. Inspekteurs sal avokado vol-wassenheid op die Nasionale Varsproduktemarkte kontroleer. Daarom moet produsente seker maak dat hulle vrugte aan die
nodige vereistes voldoen voordat hulle oes, en sodoende nie die risiko loop dat die verkoop van hulle vrugte verbied word nie,” sê Subtrop.

Onvolwasse avo’s mag nie verkoop word
A group of distraught and sad men lifted up their hands and wrapped their arms round their heads as the makeshift shacks that they had called home for months went up in smoke.
This happened on Friday when the Makhado police team went to burn down the shacks en-croaching on the busy area opposite the main gate of the Makhado municipal dumping site outside Louis Trichardt. All those men, who came from different parts of Vhembe, had camped near the dumping site, and they scavenged for scrap metal in the dumping site.
“I come from Tshakhuma and was staying in my shack here,” said a man, who declined to be named. “They burned my shack. The law destroyed my shack. It is good and convenient for me to collect metal from the ‘dirty box’ (dumping site) when I am camping close by. I then sell it for a living. I have three kids who are all at school. I can’t afford to buy a bus ticket; I am not making much either.”
However, the police’s spokesperson, Const Irene Radzilani, said that it had been reported that many robbery, assault and mugging cases were taking place in the vicinity of the dumping site and that the victims and complainants suspected the shack
dwellers of the crimes.“We decided to scrap all the illegal shacks as part
of crime prevention and fighting crime,” Radzilani said. “The edible stuff collected from the dumping site may also pose health hazards to these men.”
The spokesperson for the Makhado Municipality, Mr Louis Bobodi, said that no person was allowed to occupy a piece of land without the municipality’s permission.
“Anyone who occupies a piece of land in this town without our knowledge and consent must know that they are committing a criminal offence,” Bobodi said. “The moment we learnt about a group of people whose illegal shacks were mushrooming in the place near the dumping site, we asked the police to send them off for good.”
Bobodi then stressed the point that the activities of a group of men who scavenge for scrap metal in the dumping site were illegal. “We are not going to allow the situation where people continue to disrespect municipal laws even after they have been made aware of their criminal activities,” he stated. “We will deal with whoever transgresses against the security measures which protect the dumping site.”

• ANNUAL EBENEZER MILE The region’s swimmers can start preparing them-selves for the annual Ebenezer Mile on Saturday, 21 March.
This popular annual open-water swim has been hosted by the Haenertsburg Rotary Club at the Mountain Yacht Club for the past 13 years.
In the mile swim (1 600m), there are separate categories for males and females of 13 years and younger and 31 years and older, as well as an open category for males and females between 14 and 30 years. Males and females of all ages can also compete in the 3 000 m swim, as well as the 500 m “fun” course.
The entry fee for the 3 000 m and mile swim is R115 for online entries or R130 on the day of the race. There is a family discount of R105 for three or more family members participating. Participa-tion in the 500 m event costs R80.

Ná aanleiding van die tragiese gebeure verlede week rondom die skielik dood van die Sout-pansberg se geliefde dr. André van der Walt, het die depressie-ondersteuningsgroep van Louis Trichardt ‘n ernstige beroep op inwo-ners gedoen om betrokke te raak by die groep se aktiwiteite.
“Ds. Kriel het op dokter André se begrafnis ware woorde gepreek: Jy is meer as wat jy van jouself dink en voel en jy is meer as wat ander mense van jou dink. Die mens is kosbaar, maar soms word ons almal deur emosies van een-saamheid, moedeloosheid en waardeloosheid oorval,” sê me. Hester Beukes van die ondersteu-ningsgroep.
Beukes het in die lig van die onlangse gebeure
almal wat tans worstel met hierdie emosies, uitgenooi om dringend met hulle te skakel vir ‘n een-tot-een gesprek. “Ons wil graag die hele Januarie en Februarie hieraan wy. Indien u ‘n persoon ken wat ondersteuning nodig het, skryf vir ons of skakel ons gerus. U kan selfs ‘n geliefde anoniem by ons aanmeld,” het Beukes gesê.
Die depressie-ondersteuningsgroep se eerste vergadering van die jaar vind in Maart plaas. Beu-kes sê verdere besonderhede oor waar en wanneer die vergadering sal plaasvind, sal nader aan die tyd bekend gemaak word. Die mens se karakter refl ekteer wie hy of sy is en ‘n mens se reputasie
is gewoonlik ‘n goeie aanwyser van jou karakter. Met ander woorde - ‘n mens se karakter weerspieël jou natuur of geaardheid. Vers 4 sê ons moet deel kry aan die Goddelike natuur.
Om ‘n kind van God te wees be-hoort ‘n betekenisvolle invloed op ons karakter te hê. Dit is ‘n groot voorreg, maar ook ‘n groot verant-woordelikheid om ‘n kind van God te wees. (verse 9-10)
Hoe onderskei ons ‘n goeie karak-ter? Spreuke 20:11 sê: “Selfs ‘n jongmens word geken aan wat hy doen, uit sy optrede blyk of hy eerlik en opreg is.”
Waarom moet ons besorg wees om ons karakter ten goede te ontwikkel? Rom. 8:29a sê: “Die wat Hy lank tevore verkies het, het Hy ook bestem om gelykvormig te wees aan die beeld van Sy Seun.”

Bernard kry vir Daisy waar sy op die stowwe-rige vloer van die bouperseel sit en kyk hoe
die son ondergaan. Een kyk na Daisy se gesig en hy weet dat daar nie baie woorde moet wees nie.
“Wat van ‘n pophuisbier vir jou, mooiste?”Sy knik net. Bernard gee vir haar ‘n ys koue,
skelpienk drankie aan. Waatlemoen. Haar gunsteling.
Hy gaan sit langs haar op die vloer. Die sonsondergang is asemrowend, asof die Sout-pansberg spesiaal vir hulle wil afshow. Rooie, pienke, perse tussen die ryk goue bane van die son. Orals staan kremetartbome soos rustige dinosourusse uit bokant die groen tapyt van die bosveld.
Toe die son gaan lê, begin Daisy praat sonder om na Bernard te kyk.
“Dis nie dat ek nie lus het vir hierdie jaar nie. Daar is soveel opwindende dinge wat gebeur en projekte wat afgehandel moet word. En daar is soveel dinge wat my lewe verryk en waarvoor ek daagliks dankbaar is. Jy is seker die grootste blessing in my lewe, Bernard, en daarvoor kan ek nooit genoeg dankie sê nie.
“Maar daar is iets missing. Dit voel asof ek te min bydra, te min verskil maak in die lewe ... Kyk nou net hoe ‘n wonderlike ondervin-ding ons Loslappiekersfees was. Dit het soveel verskil gemaak in die lewe van eensame mense. Ou Miesies Cohen sou stoksielalleen in daardie
kasarm van ‘n huis van haar gesit het en die paartjie van Argentinië sou hulle harte uit verlang het na hulle huis en familie ... Het ek jou gesê dat daar selfs een of twee romanses aan die uitbroei is?” Daisy giggel.
“Ek wil méér doen, Bernard. Vandat ek jou leer ken het, het ek die ander kant van die lewe ook leer ken – die bevoorregte kant, waar geld nooit ‘n kwessie is nie. Vreemd genoeg is dit juis hierdie luukse leefstyl wat my meer laat fokus op dié wat minder gelukkig is. Skielik sien ek nood orals raak – op Facebook kom ek af op ‘n video van Helpende Hand oor die stories van ons mense in plakkerskampe, mense wat werk soek, mense wat desperaat is om na hulle families om te sien.”
“Daisy, wees realisties. Jy het twee projekte hier op die plaas om mense se lewensomstan-dighede te verbeter. Die groenteprojek is besig om ‘n fris profyt te toon en almal glimlag dees-dae van oor tot oor omdat hulle dieet minder vervelig is. Die gasvryheidsprojek is ook besig om goed van die grond af te kom – al hoe meer mense doen navraag om opgeleide persone in diens te neem. En dit is albei projekte wat jy van niks af begin het. Hoekom voel jy steeds dat jy meer moet doen? Verduidelik vir my, toe?”
“Albei die projekte verskaf my groot plesier, Bernard. Dis awesome om die direkte resul-tate daarvan te sien, en ek kan nie wag dat die gastehuis ook moet klaarkom, sodat ons dit verder in aksie kan sien nie. Die probleem is dat ek onvermydelik die projekte moet oorhandig aan iemand anders om dit te bestuur, anders sal ek nooit die vryheid hê om saam met jou
rond te rits nie. En in die stad word ‘n mens se betrokkenheid beperk tot glamorous aantrek vir vergaderings in stylvolle plekke, sodat jy by die volgende A-list paartie kan laat val dat jy be-trokke is by hierdie en hierdie wonderlike projek ... Dis nie ekke nie.”
Bernard leun gemaklik terug teen die vars-gepleisterde muur agter hom en kyk na Daisy se mooi profi el teen die skemer. Hy dink nie hy sal ooit moeg word vir die vele fasette van hierdie ditzy vrou met die lang blonde hare en nog langer bene nie. Partymaal is dit vir hom steeds verrassend: hierdie rare kombinasie van skoonheid, intellek, humor, speelsheid en diep spirituele denke.
“Nog ‘n pophuisbier, Daise?”Hy draai die proppie af en gee dit vir haar
aan. Gaan sit dan weer teen die muur.“Gewoonlik het jy reeds ‘n plan in gedagte
wanneer jy met my so diep begin praat, Daisy. Kom, vertel en dan gaan braai ek vir jou ‘n T-bone by die huis.”
“Dit is ‘n groot projek, Bernard. En dit gaan beteken dat ek baie meer tyd in die stad moet spandeer. Dit gaan ook nodig wees om van jou besigheidsnetwerk gebruik te maak, om ‘n groot gedeelte van jou invloedryke vriende, hier en in die buiteland, te gebruik. Dink jy dit sal ‘n probleem wees?”
“Dink jy regtig daar is iemand wat jou kan weerstaan wanneer jy vasberade is om jou doel-wit te bereik?”
Bernard se lag trek ver in die soel Bosveld-aand.

Die munisipaliteit is sedert Maandag besig om ‘n lekkende pyp reg te maak, maar daar is geen waarskuwingstekens om inwoners te waarsku van die oop diensgat nie. Nog ‘n ander diensgat, nie te ver van dié een naby die tennisbane nie, staan reeds vir jare oop. “Dit is ‘n wonderwerk dat daar nog nie ernstige beserings was nie,” sê die leser. Passiewe leerlinge gaan nie meer geduld word by Laerskool Louis Trichardt nie.
Dit is danksy ‘n nuwe inisiatief wat die skool se prefekte hierdie jaar die lig laat sien het. Hierdie aksieplan mik daarna om meer vaardige, fikse en ratse Triegies te ontwikkel.
Die prefekte het agtergekom dat leerlinge van alle ouderdomme gedurende pouse net passief rondsit. Meeste kinders het ook nie geweet hoe om tou te spring, wat ‘n tol is (of hoe dit werk nie) of hoe daar met albasters gespeel word nie.
Dit alles het nou verander. Onder toesig van die prefekte leer die ander skoliere nou hoe om tou te spring, handjietennis te speel en rek te spring. Die prefekte hou ook nie net toesig nie, maar onderrig ook hulle medeskoliere.

Passiewe kinders nie meer geduld nie
A well-known local journalist from Univen Radio, Justice Masekane (30), is still nursing the wounds he allegedly sus-tained when members of the South African Police Services shot at him when they were trying to disperse a crowd.
Justice explained that the shots were fired during the installation ceremony of Chief Ndavhelesi Kharidzha at Kurhu-leni on 20 December. He inter-viewed some members of the community after learning that they were not happy with the new chief.
Masekana claims that the police shot at him without any prior warning. He was hit on the arms, in his face and on his stomach. Masekane said he had opened cases of attempted murder against the three police officers who allegedly shot at him, but he had not been not informed of any court dates. He laid charges on 20 December at the Levubu SAPS.
“I know these officers very well and I don’t understand why action is not taken against them,” said Masekane. He ex-pressed the hope that justice would one day prevail.
Masekane said the incident had left him traumatised and there was no way that he would leave the matter as it stood. He

Die Suid-Afrikaanse Nasionale Bloeddiens (SANBS) het ‘n merkwaardige toename in bloedvoorraad tydens die afgelope feeseisoen ervaar.
“Skenkers het hulle ondersteuning gewys tydens
dié tradisionele moeilike tyd vir die SANBS. Ons het deur die tyd gekom sonder om in ‘n tekort in te gaan. Daarvoor wil ons groot dankie sê aan almal wie so onselfsugtig geskenk het,” sê me. Vanessa Raju, kommunikasiebestuurder van SANBS.
Ten spyte van dié sukses, sê die SANBS in ‘n
verklaring, was daar egter ‘n groot afname in ins-amelings sedert die begin van Januarie 2015. Dit, sê die SANBS, het die gevolg dat die daaglikse bloedvoorraad tot slegs 1.6 dae gedaal het. Dit is heelwat laer as die 5 dae se bloedvoorraad wat benodig word om die land se aanvraag na bloed te voorsien. Om dié veilige bloedvoorraad te bereik, moet SANBS daagliks 3 000 eenhede bloed nasi-onaal insamel.
Die minimum vereistes om ‘n bloedskenker te wees, is dat skenkers tussen die ouderdomme van 16 en 65 jaar oud moet wees, minstens 50kg weeg, algemene goeie gesondheid hê en ‘n veilige seksuele leefstyl handhaaf.

Sally Machochi en Franco Knoetze, albei van die Laerskool Louis Trichardt, is gedurende die Desembervakansie opgeneem in Limpopo-hokkiespanne na afl oop van die proewe wat by Pietersburg Hoërskool gehou is. Sally is opgeneem in die ontwikkelingspan en Franco in die O/13-seunshokkiespan.
Onder: Daar sal seker meer mense begin draf as hulle só kon draf. Hierdie Triegie Welpies (Graad 8’s) is verlede Vrydag week afgeneem waar hulle een van die matrieks gehelp het om Hoërskool Louis Trichardt se jaarlikse pretdraf in gemak af te lê. Links is nog een van die skool se leerlinge besig om litte los te maak vir die skooljaar. Foto’s verskaf.
‘n Onderwyser van Hoërskool Louis Trichardt, Johan Minnie, is gedurende die skoolvakansie verkies as die onder-voorsitter van die Limpopo Hoërskole Rug byvereniging. Buiten vir sy bykomende pligte sal Minnie ook die O/16-rugbyspan van die skool hierdie jaar afrig.
Nog ‘n paar van Hoërskool Louis Trichardt se “senior manne” wat hulself geniet het tydens die skool se jaarlikse pretdraf. Dié geleentheid is al tradisie by die skool en vir die nuwe klomp Graad 8’s is dit die eerste ampetlik byeenkoms wat hulle by die hoërskool meemaak. Elke kind in die skool moet deelneem, alhoewel nie almal nouwendig hoef te draf nie.

Position Description: Curriculum SpecialistReporting to the School Turnaround Curriculum Manager, the Curriculum Specialist will educate, communi-cate and consistently build effective working relationships with principals, educators, learners, clients, em-ployees and colleagues. The Curriculum Specialist will develop, deliver, support and implement educational and informational content for a variety of school based support initiatives, including instructor-led co-teaching events and teaching/ learning/ assessment modules. The curriculum specialists must liaise and work through the Change Agents, in order to ensure that there is coordination and accountability processes in place, and implement our school-turnaround methodology. In addition, the Curriculum specialist will be involved in the development of Lead teacher program, development of Learning & Sharing Forum and run “Teach like a Champion” workshops.
