Шлях до офіційного проголошення блаженного

Йосафата Кунцевича святим. З нагоди 150-ліття

канонізації 1867-2017 (prod. ostatnoho b[letenu)

Коли 8 січня 1865р. Конгрегація Обрядів вирішила,

що можна приступити до проголошення Йосафата

Кунцевича святим, російська пропаганда пустила в обіг

давнє звинувачення Йосафата у так званій його

«жорстокості». Ця атака преси викликала тривогу в

Римі і справу знову відклали. За той час василіянин

Микола Контієрі, венедиктинець Альфонс Ґепен та

єзуїт Іван Мартинов довели безпідставність та

фальшивість цих звинувачень, публікуючи свої статті у

паризькому журналі «Ле Монд». Щойно тоді справа

просунулась уперед і 2-го травня 1865 р. папа Пій ІХ,

який прибув до Грецької колегії з нагоди празника св.

Атанасія, доручив прочитати тут після Божественної

Літургії відповідний декрет і виголосив проповідь,

згадуючи особу і подвиг Блаженного Йосафата.

Зараз же після цього почалось приготування до

канонізації. Покликано на третього постулятора

єпископа Йосифа Сембратовича, пізнішого Львівського

митрополита (1870-1882), який жив на той час у Римі;

почали виготовляти до цього торжества ікони

Йосафата; з Польщі отримано частину мощей

Блаженного, а василіянин Микола Контієрі, на молитві і

пості, за сім місяців часу написав його життєпис

італійською мовою під заголовком: “Vita di S. Giosafat,

arcivescovo e martire ruteno dell’Ordine di S. Basilio il

Grande, scritta da D. Nicola Contieri, monaco dello stesso

Ordine”.

The Liturgy after the Liturgy - Liturgy and Life We are an incarnational religion and we want to express

and experience what we believe. We do so through the public

worship of the Church-the liturgy, celebrating and expressing

our salvation in Christ in symbols, art, architecture and music

for the glorification of God and sanctification of man. Through

liturgy we thank and glorify God for the gift of divine

life/salvation, till this divine life is intensified, for the

forgiveness of sins and the fulfillment of the future kingdom.

Through liturgy we celebrate what Jesus has done for us;

the fruits of His life-death-resurrection intensifying that divine

life in us transforming us into Christ. True liturgy is not just

externals, it is internal, it is a person-Jesus Christ. The goal of

liturgical worship is not to change things, but people. The goal

of the Eucharist is not to change bread and wine, but to change

people into Christ. Sanctified and fortified by the Eucharist,

the true Christian life is one lived according to Jesus,

self-giving for others. Christian life is a life of sacrifice and

service of God and neighbor, a death to oneself in order to live

for others as did Christ.

God is glorified in worship, but we tend to forget that He is

also glorified in people. Liturgy and life go together or we

become fractured. One can't receive Holy Communion and

then beat people up. Before the institution of the Eucharist

and Priesthood at the Last Super, Jesus knelt before His

disciples and washed their feet giving them an example of

humble service to others. St. Francis of Assisi attended Mass

and prayed the Divine Office. He lived the liturgy by his

humble example of service, becoming a living sermon,

another Christ. We have the spiritual and corporal acts of

mercy. All this flows from the Eucharist

Коли все було готове, 29 червня 1867 р., у празник

святих Апостолів Петра і Павла з нагоди 1800-ліття

їхнього мучеництва, за участю 500 єпископів і

незліченних вірних, папа Пій ІХ перше проголосив

Блаженного Йосафата Святим Вселенської Церкви

разом з 24 іншими, а потім відслужив Літургія.

Урочисту грамоту канонізації під заголовком

«Блискуче світило Східної Церкви» 6 липня цього ж

року підписали всі кардинали.

Проголошення Йосафата Святим розширило його

культ на всю Католицьку Церкву, і сьогодні його

вшановують різні народи. Він є не тільки українським,

польським чи білоруським святим, але вселенським,

і день його мученицької смерті 12 листопада (за

юліанським ‒ 25) є днем його вшанування.

Looking for live in care for an elderly Ukrainian woman in in the Ann Arbor area. We are in need for assistance with cooking, cleaning, laundry, and personal care and to stay with her day and night. Before the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, the priest

proclaims; "Let us go forth in peace." The liturgy after the

liturgy begins. We are called to bear witness and serve. We

leave the church, the Heaven on Earth Liturgy, where, 'laying

aside all earthly cares'; we see and serve Christ in every

person, especially the sick and the suffering. It takes

an act of kindness and a good life lived. In our parish

community we have helped soldiers from Ukraine who came

to our country for treatment and surgery. Every Thanksgiving,

a large group of our parishioners volunteer their time

distributing Thanksgiving dinners to the needy. They put their

own celebration of Thanksgiving with their loved ones, serve

the meals themselves, for those who are poor and have no

family. Our service to our neighbor must always be motivated

by love of God, nourished by the Eucharist or else it

becomes a cold, social welfare institution. St. Mother Teresa

of Calcutta asked cradle to grave welfare countries if they

were doing these programs out of love. Live the Liturgy by

doing good things for others.
