India is one of the key producer & consumer of natural & synthetic rubber. The sector fits in well

under the ‘ Make in India’ campaign of honourable Prime Minister. The country is producing

almost all types of rubber products beginning from critical applications in information technology,

footwear, cables, pharmacy, critical products of passenger car, profiles, hose, conveyor belt,

transmission belts, V-belts, gaskets, oil seals to higher rated passenger car tyre and all steel truck

tyres for domestic consumption as well as exports. The Size of the Indian Rubber Industry is about

6000 unit comprising 30 large scale, 300 medium scale and around 5600 small scale and tiny

sector units.

ABOUT CII

HASETRI (Hari Shankar Singhania Elastometer and Tyre Research institute) was established in

October 1991 and is recognized as SIRO by DSIR, Govt. of India. The primary goal of the institute is

to foster development and evaluation of new technologies for rubber & allied industries including

skill & technical manpower development. The various divisions under which the infrastructure is

built up consisting of material research, compound development, analytical, chemical & physical

testing, process & machine development and tyre mechanics including NDT, Tyre-Vehicle

Dynamics, FEM & CAE modeling, design and analysis. HASETRI is accredited as per ISO/IEC 17025

for Mechanical Testing, Chemical Testing and Calibration (Mechanical & Thermal).
