Advantages of Temporary vs. Permanent $  Temporary import-exports are subject to all

the same rules and regulations as permanent imports.

$  However, if you prepare and document a temporary import properly you can save time, hassle and money. $  Carnet costs can be as little as 10% of the cost of

duties and taxes.

Selling Goods Overseas

$  Under a Permanent (Consumption) Entry no additional import-export forms are required.

$  For a Temporary Import, the entry becomes permanent: duties & taxes must be paid. $  Proof of payment of duties & taxes must be

presented to foreign customs. $  Or, a claim under the carnet will occur.
