Windsor Seniors’ Newsletter WINDSOR SENIOR CENTER · 599 Matianuck Avenue · Windsor, CT 06095 · 860-285-1992 May 2020 COVID-19 Reminders We hope this newsletter finds you all well as we navigate through the COVID-19 pandemic. While the L.P. Wilson Community Center and Town Hall is closed to the public, there remains a crew of folks working to ensure that the town operations continue as needed. Senior Center staff continues to work re- motely from their homes, CRT and Senior Transportation continues to deliver lunch meals to Windsor residents 60 years of age or older, and we continue to transport our Dial -A-Ride patrons to essential life- sustaining medical appointments. You may access updated information as to the re-opening of our build- ings, as well as the status of our future programs and activities, on the Town of Windsor website www.townofwindsorct.com/senior-services and on the Windsor Senior Services Facebook page. You may still call the Senior Center for any questions you may have at 860 -285-1992. Please leave a detailed message and a staff member will return your call. We hope that you are all aware of COVID -19 current guidelines and recommendations. Much of that information can be found at www.townofwindsorct.com. A few key points: 1. Stay Home - It is very important to stay home as much as you can to avoid exposure to people who may be ill. Help us all Flatten the Curve! 2. Social distancing - No one is exempt from this recommendation. Please stay at least 6 feet away from others when out in public. People should be at home with the exception of medical care and trips to get medication or food. 3. Face Masks - New recommendation announced on April 3, 2020, is to wear a face mask when out in public. This is a procedural mask, not the N95 Respirator/Mask that is recommended for health care providers. You can find patterns online to make one if you have a sewing machine. There are also videos online that show you how to use a bandana or piece of fabric if that is what you have on hand, and videos for no sewmasks. 4. Isolation - People who have COVID-19 are placed in isolation and must remain in isola- tion until they are fever-free for 3 consecutive days and reach a minimum of 7 days from the onset of symptoms. 5. Quarantine - Folks who have been in close contact (within 6 feet for 15 minutes or longer) are placed in quarantine for 14 days from the date of last contact. If the contact is a household member, a person is in quarantine during their isolation and then the quarantine extends 14 days after recovery. 6. Illness - Please remember to stay at home if you are not feeling well. Always call your doctor and discuss your symptoms before showing up at the office, or if you must leave your home for a necessity. Please follow these guidelines to enhance the publics health and help flatten the curve! ~ Jennifer Waldo RN, MS, Town of Windsor Public Health Nurse ~ Rebecca Joyce, Town of Windsor Senior Services Coordinator
