From the Acting Assistant Principal

It has been a fantastic first term at Rowville Primary School in 2017. I have enjoyed visiting classrooms this week to see the outstanding teaching and learning that is taking place. A particular highlight for me personally this term has been observing our Student Parliament in action. Our Years 5 and 6 leaders have been busy debating some important issues and have been developing bills to be

passed in the House of Representatives and the Senate. I have been extremely impressed with the way in which our leaders present arguments to one another, displaying respect for their peers even when at times they may disagree. These are important social skills for students to learn, develop and apply to everyday life situations.

Congratulations to our Years 5 and 6 leaders being presented with their leadership badges by the Honourable Kim Wells. I thoroughly enjoyed having morning tea with our leaders and proud parents following the assembly. Thank you to all the staff and students for their involvement in making the morning so memorable. A reminder that the last Friday of term will be a curriculum day so students will finish on Thursday 30th March. Have a wonderful holiday and I look forward to the start of term two.

ANZAC DAY ARTWORK This term our Years 4 and 5 students have been working on the artwork for this year’s Anzac day display at the Rowville Public library (Stud Park). The artwork will be used as the backdrop for the Anzac day ceremony and will adorn the windows in the lead up to 25th April – keep an eye out as I’ve been told the artwork is going up this week. This year’s work is beautiful and has a “poppies” theme. Well done to all of our students and a big thank you to our wonderful Art teachers Lisa O’Sullivan and Carly Hawkins.
