PH: 02 4736 1108 Orchard Hills Public School—Self Reliance EMAIL: [email protected] I would like to inform the Orchard Hills school community that a new Principal has been appointed through the merit selection process. Mr Daniel McMahon is coming from Penrith Public School and has a wealth of experience. He will take up the position at the beginning of next term. I am sure everyone will make him feel very welcomed to the Orchard Hills community. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support while I have been relieving as Principal. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here. It has been a real pleasure getting to know and work with the students, staff and families. Orchard Hills is a fantastic school and you should all be very proud of the wonderful work that happens here every day. Further Staffing Changes Miss Stuart will be returning from maternity leave next term. She will be taking up the position of Library/RFF teacher. I would like to thank Mrs Sheehan and Mr Shaw who have been sharing the role this term. Their contributions to the education of the children at Orchard Hills Public School have been outstanding and greatly valued by all. I would like to wish Mrs Sheehan all the best as she takes up a new role next term at a school closer to her home. marks and writing comments. I am very impressed overall by the knowledge the teachers have of their students, calibre of the comments and the achievement of the students during the first half of the year. If you haven’t already booked an interview to discuss your child’s progress with their teacher then I encourage you to do so. Interviews will be held on Wednesday 3 July.

PBL Training Mr Holmes, Miss Peterson, Mrs Namdar and Mrs Hawes will all be attending a Positive Behaviour for Learning Course (PBL) this coming Monday and Tuesday. This course will provide valuable training to enhance the PBL work that has been carried out so far this year and help plan the future directions of the program.

Congratulations Congratulations to our Junior and Senior Dance Groups on their successful audition for the Blue Mountains Nepean Dance Festival which will be held next term. I had the pleasure of watching them try out last week and they were fabulous! Congratulations to our debaters who participated in their second debate of the year on Wednesday. They were arguing for the affirmative that ‘Summer is the best season’ against Penrith Public School. It was an exciting debate that saw our team lose by only half a point. I was very impressed by our team’s great arguments, poise and confidence. Well done team!

Disco As you are reading this lots of excited children are getting ready for the disco tonight. I would like to thank the P&C for their organisation of this wonderful community event. I would also like to thank the staff who are coming along to supervise the students at this fun event. See you on the dance floor!

I would like to wish you all a safe and happy Winter break. Staff return on Monday 22 July for Staff Development Day and students return on Tuesday 23 July. Kind regards Meegan Parsons Acting Principal

P & C News Thank you to everyone for supporting our Choco-late Fundraiser. Money was due Friday 28 June, there is still outstanding amounts to be handed in. Would you please have your chocolate money in by the end of this term, we will then be able to purchase the extra laptops for our students. The P&C Disco is on tonight with a pizza dinner. We look forward to seeing everyone there! Woolworths Earn and Learn stickers have fin-ished. Please hand in any remaining stickers as they have to be in by the end of this term. A big thank you to everyone who shopped till they dropped and were able to bring in so many stick-ers, our school will be able to purchase so many resources through your hard work and spending. Our next meeting is Tuesday 2 July at 7.30pm in the staff room. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Student banking is every Tuesday. If you bank each week for 10 weeks continuously the CBA donates $5 to the school!! Keep up the great banking.
