Utilize an online interactive shared decision making tool with severe asthma patients

Outline the benefits of SDM to improve adherence

Recognize four phenotypes of severe asthma

1000 Optimising surrogate outcome measures for respiratory trialsBy Peter Robbins - Professor of Physiology at the University of Oxford

The pharmaceutical industry should engage directly in optimising surrogate outcome measures for clinical trials Medical device companies do not have the same economic incentive associated with success

Inhomogeneity in lung function is an attractive target for developing a surrogate outcome measure that is more sensitive to early disease and to therapeutic intervention than those associated with airway calibre

The current measure of inhomogeneity the lung clearance index has many failings that limit its attractive-ness as a surrogate outcome measure These failings are both conceptual and methodological

1200 Administration of high dose antibiotic DPI formulationdevice combination for a cystic fibrosis patient-centric productBy Francesca Buttini - Associate Professor at University of Parma Italy

There is a need of novel powders and devices for better managing the lung administration of high dose antibiotics

A prototype capsule-based device was loaded with the entire powder dose and a gradual emission was obtained by performing 3-6 successive inhalation acts through the device

A novel particle engineering approach to construct antibiotic powder will be presented The tobramycin powder microparticles produced by spray drying using a minimal amount of sodium stearate exhibit a very small aerodynamic diameter low density and favourable shape for aerosolization

What are the regulatory requirements for bioequivalence to bring respiratory products to the market Why are the requirements of US FDA so different to that of the European Medicines Agency

Scientific basis for bioequivalence and therapeutic equivalence Literature examples and case studies

Conclusion

1500 Paving the way towards respiratory medicine using Functional Respiratory Imaging and AIBy Jan De Backer - PhD CEO at FLUIDDA

Efficient personalized medicine requires getting a handle on the heterogeneity of the patientrsquos disease AND the heterogeneity of the treatment and subsequently making the optimal match Imaging in combination with AI is increasingly used in clinical trials to understand the efficacy and heterogeneity of the novel treatments Low dose HRCT scans are readily available in clinical practice and can be used as a basis for advanced digital processing Hence all the ingredients for personalize medicine are there As such the respiratory field is expected to experience major change in the coming years This talk will discuss how this might all unfold
