In our four weeks of seeking to open our lives to the healing love of God as we await the birth of our Savior we enter into these weeks we the desire to be healed and share the for-giveness God offers to each one us with the world.
Choosing to examine our life, looking for the good and also those areas that need improvement are necessary in our lives if we are to continue to grow as good stewards of the gifts God shares with us. “Jesus Strong” Retreat Do you have what it takes to be a soldier of Christ? This year’s Teen Retreat “Jesus Strong” will be held on Friday December 9th through Sunday December 11th. All high school teens are wel-comed including those registered in our Youth Group and Confirma on classes. This retreat is mandatory for the Track 2 Confirma on class. The cost is $75 for those en-rolled in Confirma on and $100 for all others. Food, t-shirt and transporta on are included. Last day to register is December 1st. The retreat will be in the beau ful Mountains of Watsonville, at Camp Konionia. We promise this will be a retreat you will never forget! Spiritual Challenge 2016-2017
During the months from Advent through Lent, the children and their families are challenged to stay active in their faith by participating in Mass on Saturdays or Sun-days. After Mass every weekend, the priest or a catechist are signing the yellow chal-lenge forms. Also, the children are asked to answer the reflection question for two Sundays each month in the accompanying journal to the forms. At the end of the sea-son, we expect that the filled forms and the journals are returned to the parish office by April 2, 2017.
Families who are "spiritually active" (those with more attendance) will receive a dinner organized by the priests of St. Lucy!
Reto Espiritual 2016-2017 Durante los meses de Adviento a Cuaresma, los niños y sus familias son desafiados a que per-manezcan activos en su fe participando en la misa los sábados o domingos. Después de la misa todos los fines de semana, el sacerdote o un catequista están firmando los formularios amarillas del reto. También se les pide a los niños que respondan a la pregunta de reflexión por dos domingos de cada mes en el diario que acompaña a los formularios. Al final de la tem-porada, esperamos que los formularios llenos y los cuadernos sean devueltos a la oficina par-roquial para el 2 de abril de 2017. ¡Las familias que están "espiritualmente ac-tivas" (las que tienen más asistencia) reci-birán una cena organizada por los sacerdotes de Santa Lucía!

Giving Tree: We need help with sorting and bag-ging for delivery the presents we are receiving. On Sunday, December 11th and Sunday December 18th from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm join us at the Flower Room of the Church to help. We will also need help on Mon-day December 12th and December 19th with moving the bags and delivering them to the various homeless shelters we are helping this year with your donations.
Christmas Baskets: Next weekend is the last weekend that we will be collecting non-perishable food for our Christmas Basket program. We expect to deliver between 50-70 Christmas Baskets to our Out-reach clients and St. Lucy Parish families in need. Your donations of food and/or grocery gifts cards provide these families with a complete holiday dinner.
Do you need a Christmas Basket? If you know of a St. Lucy family or are a St. Lucy fami-ly in need of a Christmas Food Basket, please come to the Outreach Office between 10 am and 11:45 am by December 9th to sign-up. Baskets will be distribut-ed on December 17th from 9 to 11 am to those who have signed-up for one.
Adopt-A-Family: We are still looking for a few more families or Parish groups that would like to help by providing Christmas presents for members of a family chosen from the clients we have helped this year in the Outreach Office. Please call the Outreach Office at 408-378-8086 and leave your name and phone number so we can contact you. Families will not be informed of who is helping them and donors will not be given the name of the family that they are helping.
St. Lucy’s Prayer Chain: If someone is sick or out of work or in need of some sort of healing, contact us at [email protected], or telephone Rose @ 408/378-1276 (non-English speaking call 408/378-2464).

Feast of Saint Lucy: December 13
St. Lucy Feast Day will be celebrated on December 13th, with a special Mass at 11:30 AM. Bishop McGrath will preside with Fr. Mark and Fr. Steve concelebrat-ing. We are hoping to collect prescrip-tion eyeglasses that are not being used. These eyeglasses will go to our local Lion’s Club, who will refurbish the glasses and donate them to those in need. Please place the eyeglasses in the boxes in the back of the church.
Christmas Flowers for the Church Donation envelopes are available on the tables at the main exits of the Church if you would like to donate to the St. Lucy Parish Christmas Flower Fund.
