GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS
1. Great is thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
there is no shadow of turning with thee;
thou changest not, thy compassions, they fail not;
as thou hast been thou forever will be.
Refrain:
Great is thy faithfulness!
Great is thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
all I have needed thy hand hath provided;
great is thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!
2. Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
sun, moon and stars in their courses above
join with all nature in manifold witness
to thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.
3. Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth

BIBLE STUDY
9.00 A.M. – 9.45 A.M
TRINITY TEN
20TH AUGUST, 2017 Theme: Prerequisites for healing the land Topic: Keeping God’s Covenant. Text: Exod. 19:5-8; Heb. 9:11 - 15.
Aim: i) be able to explain the word “covenant”; ii) understand the different types and their implications to our faith;
iii) harvest the benefits of keeping God’s covenant. Introduction
The word ‘covenant’ means mutual agreement between two or more parties. In the Old Testament, it is an agreement between God and His people Israel. It stipulates that if the Israelites will do according to all the commandments of
God, He will bless them and subdue their enemies before them, Exod.19:5-8. In the New Testament, the covenant is between God and all who believe in the Lordship of Jesus Christ (Luke 22:19-20; Heb. 9:11-15). Old Testament
covenants were often enacted by means of the blood of animals while the NT covenant was enacted with the blood of Jesus. Covenants move God to act in man’s favour.
Study Guide 1i) Explain the word “covenant” in your own words.
ii) Discuss the different types of covenants from Gen 9:8-11, 16; Exod. 24:8; 15:26. 2. Enumerate the details of God’s covenant in the Old and New
Testaments. Deut 5:2-22; Heb 8:7-10; 9:11-15 3. Enumerate the blessings that follow when we keep God’s covenant
in our lands, according to
Deut.28:1-14; Exod. 19:5, 6. 4i) What are the consequences of breaking God’s covenant? I Kings 11:4-11.
ii) What will help Christians to keep God’s covenant? John 14:15; 15:4, 5.
Conclusion God is the God of covenant who makes and keeps covenant with His people. Men and women may enter into covenants with Him. Indeed, all who have believed in
Christ Jesus have entered into a covenant relationship with Him. May we build our faith, knowledge and determination to keep and sustain our covenant with Him! He hates the breaking of covenant. We should avoid breaking covenant
with God. Food For Thought
Keeping covenant with God helps us to realise or achieve our destiny.

3, Ajele Street, Lagos, Nigeria THE FELLOWSHIP OF BELIEVERS
All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer. Acts 2:42 God called us to unity; to fellowship; to be one together in His name. He knows and He cares … His desire is for us to follow Him, and we must be willing to follow Him because He is the one who can guide us. Acts 2:42 uncovered the believers behavioral attitude to fellowship (koinonia) and to the teaching of the apostles’ in the early church. Fellowship (koinonia) is unity brought about by the Holy Spirit. In fellowship, the individual shares in common an intimate bond of fellowship with the rest of the Christian society; fellowship cemented the believers to the Lord Jesus and to each other. The first detailed description of the early Christians is wonderfully revealed. The followers of Jesus, who had been baptized by the Holy Spirit, devoted themselves to communication and unity with God and with each other. In relationship to God, they “devoted themselves” to the apostles’ teaching (the word of God) and in prayer. In relation to one another, they devoted themselves to fellowship and sharing meals, including the Lord’s Supper. This is to say, fellowship (koinonia) denotes a deep sense of spiritual unity of spiritual communion with the Lord and with each other. We are called to be taught, and to teach one another, in every aspect of life. Strengthening believers is something we accomplish by meeting together. However, it is not always the way of the church and we need to change that. Heb. 10:25, “Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Today’s Christians believers were disregarding and skipping church and finding ways not to meet together. Teaching strengthens us; brings us under conviction; grows us stronger, when the Word of God does not change us, we have to ask ourselves why. When we see God’s teaching – it is clear … Read: Acts 2:14-24. God’s word has three causes in each life that we must admit and understand: Repentance: remorse for past conduct; a turning away from sin, Restoration: return to its original state (conversion), Reconciliation: Teaching leads to fellowship because we have common bond. Fellowship is a calling to gather and be unified; to meet together in unity, it is not a social gathering; not a collection of members but a calling to service. “Faithfulness to Christ does not mean that we hold worship services like they did in 1958; it means that we live out our faith like they did in Acts 2”. Fellowship leads to breaking of bread for our spiritual nourishment, opened the Word to cause ourselves to come out of a rut, fellowship cause things to happen because of the obedience to prayer. Our priorities as followers of Christ must focus upon spiritual unity with our Lord Jesus Christ and with other brethren in Christ Jesus within the church, the spiritual body of Christ. Every true Christian is a member of the body of Christ and is related to Christ and to other believers as a member of that body. This is the essence of true spiritual unity, the unity of the spirit. We can grow in the Spirit by engaging in the same kinds of activities as those of the early church, so that we too, may become the kind of people that can consistently announce, embody, and demonstrate the Kingdom of God.
