May His Soul Rest In Peace

On Sunday May 19th, we are celebrating our Parish First Holy Communion at the 11:00am Mass.

These occasions remind us of God’s love and gifts to His family.

Among Catholics, May is most well-known as “Mary’s Month,” a specific month of the year when special devo-tions are performed in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Why is that? How did May become associated with the Blessed Mother? There are many differ-ent factors that contributed to this asso-ciation. First of all, in ancient Greece and Rome the month of May was dedi-

cated to pagan goddesses connected to fertility and springtime (Artemis and Flora, respectively). This, combined with other European rituals commemorat-ing the new season of spring, led many Western cul-tures to view May as a month of life and motherhood. This was long before “Mother’s Day” was ever con-ceived, though the modern celebration is closely re-lated to this innate desire to honor maternity during the spring months.

Traditional Seder/Passover Meal

It was another great spiritual experience during the

Holy Week Seder Supper. It was a full house and

the Parish Life Committee made it Most successful.

Thanks to: Deacon James Bryant, Wanda Lewis,

Belinda Lott, Estelle White, Viletta Perkins, Ronald

Horner , Sr., Edward Robinson, Yasmine Burney,

Kangia Bryant, Robin Reed and Lydia Smith

Bless us all.

Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic School has been providing children with an outstanding education, focusing on the mind, body and spirit for over 100 years. Our goals for our students are college and heaven. We have an incredible family atmosphere on campus where we all take pride in raising our children to be pillars in our community. We encourage you to make the sacrifice to afford your child the educational opportunities available at Heart of Mary, as the rewards are endless. Come join our family by calling the school office at 251-432-5270 to set up a visit with the principal, tour the campus and register your child. (Discounted tuition available for tithing parishioners.)

Your child’s Religious Education is perhaps even more important than what they get in their school classroom. The development of their Faith is something that will lead and guide their lives and insure they have a loving relationship with their heavenly Father. Make sure to register your children now for their CCD Sunday School Classes which will begin in early September.

Both First Communion and Confirmation require a 2 year preparation. Registration forms (one per child) are located in the rear of the church. Complete and drop off at the Rectory.
