Drive Shafts

Remanufactured drivelines are balancedwith new spider bearings and tubesinstalled. State-of-the-art Cat Remansalvage technologies, strict reuse guidelinesand unequalled quality control systemsguarantee the precision and quality originallyspecified are fully preserved to help delivera lifetime of performance and value.

Hydraulic Cylinders and Rods

All Reman Cylinders are rehoned or thetubes are replaced, bore skived androller burnished, depending on the extentof wear or damage. All retubed cylindersare tested for weld integrity; all newbearings are installed; and flanges,caps and trunnions are replaced withCat parts if needed.

All Reman Rods are straightened, ground, chrome plated and polished;or they are replaced (re-rodded), depending on the extent of wear ordamage. All re-rods are induction hardened, improving resistance tonicks and dents to extend seal life. Most feature inertia-welded eyes forsuperior strength. All new bearings are installed and eyes replaced withCat parts if needed. Machine Control &

Machine Control & Guidance Components Cat Remanis expanding coverage of remanufactured MachineControl and Guidance Components. When your controland guidance systems require service, you need repairoptions and solutions that get you back to work quickly,affordably, and reliably.

Hydraulic Pumps,Motors and Components

With Cat RemanufacturedPiston Pumps and Motors, the difference is inthe detail. Cores are thoroughly cleaned andinspected. Port plates are inspected for wear ordamage and reconditioned by lapping or replacedwith new parts. New piston slippers are installed,and pistons are reconditioned or replaced. Worn barrelassemblies are reconditioned by grinding or replaced with new,and all piston bore bushings are replaced with new and machinedto new specifications. Vane pump cartridges are assembled withthe latest design features. Rotors, cams and vanes arereconditioned or replaced with new components. All pump andmotor groups are filled with premium oil, adjusted andperformance tested to new specifications.

Remanufactured Components

Final Drive Groups

Caterpillar RemanufacturedFinal Drive Groups come fullyassembled and ready to install.Planet gears are 100% magnafluxtested for cracks. All bearings, seals, gasketsand O-rings are replaced with new Cat parts.Damaged splines, keyways, threads and other wear surfaces arerestored to new-part specifications. Planetary shafts, bearing cupsand bushings are frozen and pressed into place. And finally, all finaldrives are 100% tested.

Steering Clutch Brake Groups

All cores are completely disassembled,cleaned and inspected for damage. All seals,friction disks, races and bearings are replaced withnew parts, as are other parts that cannot be restored tolike-new condition – including hubs, shafts and carriers.

Transmissions andTorque Converters

Cat Reman Transmissions and Torque Converters include thelatest engineering updates and design improvements and are 100% tested tofactory specifications. All seals, cups and bearings are replaced. All parts thatcannot be restored to like-new condition are replaced with new parts.

Caterpillar checks transmission clutch plates for flatness, then preciselygrinds both sides to original surface finish specs for like-new performance.

After reassembly, transmissions undergo a multi-step test that includes a run-through of all forward and reverse gears at low and high idle, setting of valvepressure, check for leaks and proper shift timing.

Final Drive/ Spindles/Hubs /Housings

Final drive hubs and housing cores aredye-checked for cracks. Splines are removed and wornsurfaces are built back up using submerged arc welding orlaser cladding for same-as-new durability. All surfaces aremachined to new dimensions and tested with a mating gauge.

Brake Bands and Shoes

Brake band shoe cores aredisassembled, thoroughly cleaned and inspected fordamage. Asbestos-free lining is bonded and riveted to adddependability to the product and your equipment. In addition, allrollers, bushings and band springs are replaced with new parts; anddamaged hardware is replaced wherever required.

Water Pumps andOil Pumps

Cat Reman Water and OilPumps are updated to meetthe latest design standards andfeature 100% replacementof bearings and seals.

Unit Injectorsand Fuel Nozzles

Every component is completelydisassembled, cleaned and carefully inspectedto ensure same-as-new quality and reliability.All seals and O-rings are replaced. Whenreassembled, remanufactured injectors aretested and calibrated to new productspecifications.

Air Compressors

Crankshaft and journal surfaces arereground and polished and cylinderbores rehoned to exact dimensions.Each unit has new piston rings,rubber parts, springs, seals, gasketsand washers to help deliverlike-new performance.

Long Blocks

Caterpillar Remanufactured LongBlocks are long on value, short onrepair time. Cat Blocks aredisassembled, cleaned to meet rigidstandards and are 100% inspected for cracks, erosion or other damage.Every block is updated to include critical design improvements andchecked electronically to ensure consistent quality and long life. Metalspraying thermally bonds to block and cylinder head faces for same-as-new durability. Crankshafts are reground, polished and checked forbearing fit and end play. All bearings, seals, gaskets, and piston ringsare replaced with new Cat parts.

Cylinder Heads

Reman Cylinder Headsare updated to includethe latest engineeringchanges, and are 100%magna- fluxed to detect cracks, erosion or other damage. Thebottom deck is resurfaced to ensure a tight seal between thecylinder head and engine block to help prevent combustion gasand coolant leaks. All critical wear and sealing components arereplaced with new Cat parts. Cat Reman Cylinder Heads arepressure tested for leaks before they leave the factory.

Oil Coolers

Unlike other rebuilders whoclean and reuse bundles, CatRubber End Sheet Reman OilCoolers use only new tube bundlesand end sheets, which increase reliabilityand performance levels.

Alternators/Starters

To ensure same-as-newperformance, all alternator andstarter gaskets, seals, O-rings,bearings and boots are replaced.

Turbochargers

Center housings aretested for seal integrity.All thrust and anti-friction bearings are replacedto ensure long life and performance. All rotatingassemblies are dynamically balanced using thesame equipment as new units.

Cylinder Packs

Cat Reman Cylinder Packs ensurethat your engine is overhauled usingperformance-matched, Caterpillar parts.Only Caterpillar preassembles theconnecting rod, liner, piston, piston ringsand piston pin as a unit, cutting overhaultime by as much as 25%.

Crankshafts

Crankshafts are 100%magnafluxed to detectcracks. Crankshaftjournals are machined tothe same surface finish roundness andlocation tolerance of new crankshafts toextend service life.

Flywheels

Cat Reman Flywheels arebalanced to factoryspecifications with factorysurface finish, which meansa smoother engine operationand better clutch break-in.Cat Reman also inspects allring gears and replaceswhen necessary.

ECUs

Cat Reman hasdeveloped its own line ofremanufactured ECUs. Thisensures that electronic controlunits are thoroughly diagnosed andremanufactured, and critical engineeringupdates are completed. When theremanufacturing process is complete,the units pass through rigorous durabilitytest requirements.

Cat Reman Engines are remanufactured using only Caterpillar parts, many of themnew.Engines are upgraded to include critical design improvements. Plus, each engine isdynamometer tested for operational and performance indicators to ensure that CatReman Enginesmeet the sameperformance specifications as newCaterpillar Engines.All blocks are tested electronically to ensure consistent quality and long life.

Fuel Injection Pumpsand Governor Groups

All gaskets, seals and worn partsare replaced with new. Each unit iscomputer tested for 20 critical quality pointsto ensure maximum performance andfuel economy.
