president’s report

It is with great pleasure that I present this, the 36th annual report of the STC SouthCamberwell Cricket Club.

There were many positives to reflect of in a year when the club grew to the point where sixsenior and five junior teams took to the park each week. These include: All six senior teams in the finals Premierships for our Second, Fourth and Club XIs A grand final appearance for the First XI Greg Wignell named in the ECA team of the century Basil Finnigan named the VCA Eastern Region volunteer of the year Junior program continuing to deliver players to the seniors Growth of the Milo program

Our success on the field is a tribute to the hard work of many people behind the scenes, especially the Committee. I would like to thank Tim Bach for the balance and reason hebrought in his role as Senior Vice-President. Paul Zennaro once again performed superblyas Secretary and PR expert. Jack Krohn, in possibly the hardest job at the Club, lookedafter the juniors amongst many other roles. Tony Michaelidis keeping a tight reign overthe finances for the seventh year in a row. Special thanks to Chris Classon, MatthewFunnell, Steve Hoy, Andrew Daly and Dave Grace for their efforts in areas too numerousto mention. Well done boys.

Kevin Burt again performed the onerous Chairman of Selectors duty superbly, with fineassistance from Tony Michaelidis and Mark Molloy. Kylie Pietrykowski deserves amention for her excellent efforts as assistant secretary and function co-ordinator. Amammoth task, thanks Kylie.

Best Clubman Paul Fisicaro is deserved of special thanks for performing three difficulttasks. As Club Captain Paul led STC back to the top of the competitions highest grade, and backed that up with dedication to the under 16s, senior training and the excellent STCweb site.

While it is impossible to name everybody that contributed during the year, I would like tosincerely thank you all for your efforts. In so doing I would like to remind everyone that theculture of STC is the product of those that went before us, and dependent on all currentmembers contributing off field as well as on.

I do not seek re-appointment next season, but have enjoyed my last two years onCommittee. I wish the in coming Committee all the very best for the upcoming season, which I am sure will be a successful one for the Club.

GARRY CHARDPresident

secretary’s report

2002/2003 proved yet again to be a remarkable year in the history of the STC SouthCamberwell Cricket Club.

After the incredible success of the club in recent years, few would have thought thingscould get better, but they did.

On the field the Club ventured into new ground with the establishment of a sixth STC XI.The Club XI, as it became known, participated in all ECA fixtures during the season, madethe finals and of course became the first team in STC history to win the flag in its first year. The Club XI victory was of course one of a record breaking three premierships, achievedon the back of six out six finals qualifications.

Congratulations for our on field success must go to all captains. Their efforts this yearwere magnificent, and we have the silverware to prove it. In particular the efforts of theSecond XI must be recognised. By winning the competition that was last year claimed bythe First XI, the Seconds showed the depth of brilliant players that the Club has at itsdisposal, and should now use to cement a golden era for our great club.

While the First XI failed in their bid for a premiership, their considerable efforts should berecognised. Thrust back into the ECA’s premier synthetic grade, the First XI lost only twogames for the year. The stand they took in the McGibbon Shield has re-established STCas one of the power clubs in the ECA, and their certain success in the future will entrenchour club as the best in the competition.

Once again selection was a tough job all season. As with most tasks around the Club, theestablishment of a new XI made the selector’s jobs even more difficult. Congratulationsmust go to the excellent performance of the Chairman of the selection panel, Kevin Burt, and his fellow selectors Tony Michaelidis and Mark Molloy.

Off the field the Club once gain performed well. The sound administration of this growingorganisation is the foundation of recent growth, and the growth we hope to experience incoming years. Also, the ability of STC to recruit new players places us in a unique positionamongst our competition, and is the envy of entire ECA.

The Committee once again performed duties in a willing, efficient and thankless manner.Under the guidance of Garry Chard, the Committee ran like clockwork and administeredthis growing organisation in an excellent manner. While Garry’s presence on Committeewill be sorely missed next year, his performance as President will long be remembered ascritical to a growth stage of the Club.

Financial figures show a position of strength, and deliver the Club great security in anuncertain environment. The hard work and dedication of the Treasurer, Tony Michaelidis, over a number of years has ensured that, unlike a number of other clubs, STC is in aposition to absorb the rising cost of insurances and rentals.

The Junior program is another area where STC has once again secured its future. It is acredit to all involved with STC, particularly John Krohn and Basil Finnigan, that throughoutthe summer so many young cricketers learned the game in a family friendly and enjoyableenvironment. This investment may be long term, but anyone who witnessed the First XIcompete with seven former STC Juniors playing during the season will realise the value ofthe time and energy spent.

The years ahead will pose a number of challenges for STC. Challenges that must be dealtwith in a strong and decisive manner if we are to continue to grow. With the Club’sexpansion to six senior teams comes a far greater administrative burden. When this iscoupled with the previously mentioned rising costs associated with running a club likeSTC, the hurdles are clear.

The challenge for all STC Members is to retain the spirit for which the Club is so famous. As a Club our defining characteristic is our unity. The STC culture of union andcamaraderie, regardless of ability or success, is our strength. It is the responsibility of allthose who love the Club to ensure their actions add to this strength, and not fracture ordistract energies into other areas.

In coming years future Committees must continue to improve all areas of Clubadministration. If this objective is achieved and combined with continued improvement onthe field, STC will continue to grow and improve as an organisation.

Finally a thank you to all those who have assisted me with the Secretary’s role thisseason. In particular I would like to thank Matthew Funnell for his assistance withCommittee procedure, my soon to be wife Kylie for her organisation, Paul Fisicaro whowas invaluable with both the web site and presentation night, and Garry Chard and TimBach for their guidance.

There endeth... Go Saints!!!

junior co-ordinator’s report

Moving up from recent seasons, STC fielded five teams in the ECA’s junior competition:two U12s, two U14s and one U16s. While results were uneven, with both U12 teamsstruggling for points and the U14 Blues also battling to compete, both the (older) U14 Redsand the U16s reached the semi-finals, and the players in all sides enjoyed theirparticipation in the competition.

For the third year, STC conducted a Milo Have A Go Clinic program under the auspices ofthe Victorian Cricket Association. Enrolment was up from previous seasons to fifteen, allparticipants were enthusiastic, and six of the squad took part in the Have a Go ChallengeDay at East Doncaster in February, performing very creditably. The three younger juniorteams all included players who have progressed from the Milo program.

The U12 Blues comprised mostly boys playing their first season of competitive cricket, witha couple of more experienced players, under the management of Steve Ross. Althoughthe team (narrowly) failed to pick up a win, they worked hard and showed considerablepromise. It should be noted that most of the players would have been eligible to play U10scricket for the season.

Most of the more experienced U12s played in the Reds, with Ben Banks-Smith serving afine apprenticeship as Manager. The team suffered a couple of narrow defeats and pickedup a fine win at Kew, but for the most part were outgunned by teams of older, biggerplayers. Most of the boys were in only their first or second season, and have at least onemore season of U12 cricket ahead of them. They should be capable of big things in 2003-04.

Dan O’Connell answered an appeal for help to take on the management of the U14 Blues, many of whom were still eligible to play at U12 level. Although the team picked up only asingle victory, there were several fine individual performances, and most of the boys madesignificant progress in the transition from U12 to U14 cricket.

STC’s banner was carried into a junior semi-final by the U14 Reds, many of whom hadalso played in the heart-stopping semi-final at Richmond the previous season.Unfortunately team manager Steve Williams and captain Michael Williams were lost to theteam after Christmas, when Steve accepted an exciting new job in Queensland. PhilCasey stepped into the management breach, and Oliver Casey did a great job as skipperfor the second half of the season. The boys met top side Heatherdale on a dull, misty dayfor the semi, and found the opposition and the conditions collectively too much toovercome. Beau Coyle in particular batted extremely well to help the side post acompetitive score, but the bowlers generally struggled with the wet ball and could notprevent the strong Heatherdale top order from making the runs. However, it was a strongseason’s performance by the team and they should feel pride and satisfaction in theirachievements in a higher grade of cricket than last season.

Paul Fisicaro, the club’s First XI captain, volunteered again to coach the U16s, and foundhimself also serving as team manager in the absence of other options. The team did agreat job to reach the semi-finals, but were denied the chance to earn a place in the GrandFinal when persistent drizzle prevented even a single ball being bowled on semi-final dayat Bulleen. The Prowse brothers, James and Esmond, had fine seasons with the bat, andJunior Presentation Night saw Junior Legend status conferred upon graduating juniorstalwarts Matthew and Bernard Anderson (both of whom made their senior debuts duringthe season), Huw Downey and Christian Keel.

A disappointment of the season was the departure of one junior player due to parentalconcerns about his opportunities in the team. While we feel that the player was beinggiven the chance to participate to a fair extent, the issue will be addressed in preparationsfor next season to ensure that all players understand how opportunities will be shared, especially in the older teams where it may not be possible to enable every player to bat inevery match. We will also take extra steps to ensure that all captains and managersappreciate the need to share the available cricket as fairly as possible amongst themembers of the team.

Aside from regular training and matches, a number of specific events occurred during theseason. The parents and sons match in February was great fun for all those who tookpart, the parents again securing Peter Sandilands’ trophy for the U14/ U16 match. Severaljunior players took advantage of the opportunity provided by Cricket Victoria to attendVictorian Bushrangers one day domestic matches at the MCG, and learn from watchingelite players in action. Special thanks to Marty Gleeson of Cricket Victoria who continuedto provide great support for STC’s (and many other ECA clubs’) junior cricket programs.

Basil Finnigan again enthusiastically took on the role of coaching the U12 and U14squads. Basil’s dedication in travelling three or four times a week from his home in MtMartha was recognised at a broader level when he was named Cricket Victoria’s InnerEast Metropolitan Region Volunteer of the Year in December. Basil received his award atthe MCG on the third day of the Boxing Day Test Match at a special function honouring thecontributions of outstanding volunteers from across the State. Many senior cricketadministrators were deeply struck by Basil’s dedication and love for the game and the kids. His award was also acknowledged in local newspapers from Camberwell to theMornington Peninsula, and at the ECA Junior Presentation Night. Basil’s example isextraordinary, and we must be grateful that as a club STC has benefited so much overmany years from Basil’s tireless input.

Thanks are due to many other people for their efforts this season. In particular, all ourteam managers gave sterling service. All senior players were rostered to help at Milosessions or junior matches and most responded generously, with several, especially PeterMorrison, making many additional unrostered appearances. I would also like to thank themany parents who helped out with scoring, umpiring, canteen duties and transport duringthe season. I hope that parental involvement will continue and expand next season tocontinue to build upon the solid base of the junior program. Tom Casha became the firstjunior player to win the Bob Stensholt Best Junior Clubperson Trophy, for his enthusiasm, support for clubmates in other junior teams as well as his own, support for the seniorteams on Saturdays and willingness to do whatever was asked for the good of the club. Iwould also like to thank Bob Stensholt, MP, and the other donors of perpetual trophies,Bryan Cain for the three Most Improved awards and Maureen Colman for the GeorgeColman Memorial Trophy.

first XI report

The 1st XI returned to the MacGibbon shield after successfully bringing home the Burtshield in 01/02. In what was a special year for the ECA in its centenary season STC wewere keen to make a mark on the competition by maintaining the level of commitment anddedication that had brought the 1sts and 2nds premierships in the season past.

The top grade provided many challenges for our side in 2002/03. We were eager to fosteryoung new talent as well as retain a blend of experienced heads in the side. This proved tobe a major factor in the success of the side throughout the year. New young guns AlexNicholson & Alastair Dwyer were two of the finds of the season and along with the returnof David Spithill and appearances from Dan O’Connell provided our YP’s with invaluableexperience at the top level of our competition. Experience we will look to call upon inupcoming seasons.

STC dominated the competition. Losing only the first and infamous last game throughoutthe year both to the eventual premiers.

Timothy Wright who only managed 8 games in the year took out the ECA competitionbatting average and Bernard Docherty 2nd. Stephen O’Connell finished 5th. PhilFeatherston (VC) took the bowling average for the ECA competition and Luke D’Astolialso had an outstanding year finishing 5th with the ball.

These individual performances were a credit to the quality players that the club has at itsdisposal. The unique camaraderie of the side was a pleasure to be part of and whilst theGrand Final was played and lost there were many positives to draw on for the future yearsfor STC. One major positive is the desire for the side to make another serious challengenext year and this time take it out! The boys now have plenty of ammunition to make surethat the success of this year and next are rewarded with the ultimate prize.

There is no reason STC will not continue to be a major force in the years to come. In mytime at the helm I have been blessed with not only some of the most talented players Ihave played with but some of the most committed and dedicated individuals that give thereall for the club. Thanks to all players who took the field for the 1sts this year for yourcontinued support and skill.

Aside from the players in the 1st XI there are many other club members that helpedcontribute to the outstanding performance in off field roles. I’d like to thank the Committeefor their tireless efforts throughout the season. Special thanks must go to the followingpeople for help with so much throughout the year. Gary Chard (President), Tim Bach(Great Lunches), Jack Krohn (Tremendous contributor), Paul Zennaro (No doubt abouthim), Kevin Burt & Tony Michaelidis (exceptional people!). Also to those that assistedwhen they could with training and its preparation and also with Junior support. second XI report

It gives me great pleasure to report on the 2nd XI for 2002/03. Having won the Premiership in “AGold” the previous year, we were promoted to the Burt Shield and given the opportunity to defendthe premiership that our 1st XI had won in the same competition in 2001/02. As we had to play themajority of our games against 1st XI sides from opposing clubs, the realists quite reasonablyassessed that it would be a great effort to avoid relegation from the Burt Shield. The optimistshoped that we might scrape into the finals of the Burt Shield. The 2nd XI players believed that wecould make the finals, and also bring the Burt Shield back to Nettleton Park where it belongs!!

In round 2, the team had a nail biting victory having never been in the hunt, whilst Round 1 and 3saw the team on the end of some traditional floggings. Not the ideal start to the season. However, the boys were taking their cricket seriously, and after a number of team meetings, we respondedby defeating the East Malvern 1st XI to the tune of 178 runs. 5 players made 50 or more runs inthis game, giving us the belief that we could match it with the best in this competition.

We won 9 of the last 10 games for the home and away season and finished in 4th position with apercentage of 141. We were the dominant side of the last 10 rounds, with 8 individual playersmaking 50 or more on 22 different occasions. Three players took five or more wickets on 5occasions, with Benny Mannix also chiming in with an amazing Double Hat-Trick.

We ventured to Victoria Road Reserve for the Semi Final against 1st Placed Boroondara. We wereasked to bowl and bowl we did – skittling them for 103 runs. However, any total is defendable in afinal and we were soon on the ropes at 5/15. We could have folded from this position but wechose to fight. We had made a slight recovery to be 7/63 overnight. On the back of his maiden 50for the club, Billy Hynes decided to smash us to the line on the Monday morning. He brought upvictory by belting consecutive sixes over long on and we ended up going on to record a softoutright victory.

The Grand Final was at the same venue and against the same opposition that had faced the STC1st XI only one year earlier. Having defeated Wyclif twice during the season, we were confident ofvictory. We made 161 on a big slow ground, with a few mini-collapses, but did well to post thisscore. Throughout the year, umpires and opposition alike frequently commented on ourpersistence, character and overall experience. Day 2 of the Grand Final was a tough contest asthe game continued to seesaw. The players were constantly urged to “think of the process, andnot of the outcome.” We only had 27 runs to defend and still needed five wickets! We onlyfocused on the next wicket, and never thought about the outcome of the game. We dug deep, followed our game plan, and ended up winning the Burt Shield by 22 runs. What a magnificentvictory and a great reward for all the extra work we had done.

The message to take from this year is to have belief in our own and our team’s ability. After Round3 we could have given up. At 5/15 in the semi final we could have thrown the towel in. It was acomplete team performance and incredible strength of mind from every single player that won STCits second consecutive Burt Shield.

On behalf of the 12 Premiership players, I would like to thank everyone who was a part of ourextended team this year. I would like to recognise the Partners and Parents who supported usthroughout the year. I thank the selectors who made a bloody hard job seem easy. Phantom mustbe thanked for his scoring in the GF, and for his constant support of the 2nd XI. Lastly, we thank allthe members of the committee who have done another brilliant job this year. The efforts of somany have contributed to our win.

Next season, we need more young players to stand up and demand a spot in our top teams.Nothing is more pleasing than to be proven wrong by a young man who forces his way into a teamand shows his Captain and team mates that they have underestimated his ability in the past.

2003/04 will be more competitive than ever before. As individuals, we will have to work evenharder to gain selection in the top grades.

The 2nd XI won the Burt shield in 2002/03 and can definitely be successful again next season. However, we will remember all of the training, the 18 extra ball machine sessions that we had, allof our fighting abilities and all of the times that we could have given in. We will also remember thecelebrations and rewards that we shared because of our premiership, and how they made all theefforts very worthwhile. We shall set our sights on doing it all again!

See you in 2003/04.

third XI report

The thirds this year had a new look with a few of the more experienced older playersdropping down a grade to make way for first year players Frank Waylen and Andy Classonalso opening batsman Mark Sheehan & opening Bowler Anthony Boots were promotedfrom the fifths. The new mix of old and new helped the three’s to another finalsappearance losing only two games. By making the finals you could say we had asuccessful year, but unfortunately we once again failed to win the semi final. Thedisappointing facet to our season was that we were unable to make runs with PatrickDocherty the only batsman able to score more than 450 runs for the year. We had anawesome attack lead by David Grace, Matthew Funnell, Anthony Boots and all rounderAndrew Classon. The bowlers we able to continually roll opposition sides for low scores.Even in the semi we rolled the salvos for 131 but weren’t good enough to win.

Our journey to the finals saw many highlights. Adam Burt started the season insensational form with a fifty in round one and backed that up in round two with his maidencentury for the club. Mark Sheehan also achieved his maiden century. Matthew Funnellachieved a career best 7 wickets in a game against the Salvo’s. All appeared lost but thenever say die attitude of the Funster got us back into the game and when Andy Classonclean bowled their number 11 we got away with an exciting tie. Andy & Funster also wereinvolved in a record 8th wicket partnership against Waverley . We were once again in allsorts but the boys proceeded to tonk the attack to all points of the park, Andy top scoredwith 75 and Matty Funnell achieved a personal best 43. Another exciting partnership wasagainst Mazenod we were 9 for about 100 when young Peter Morrison strode to thecrease to join Captain Patrick Docherty. The boys put on a clinic taking the score to 214with Morro making a great 12 and Doc chipped in with 114 no.

There were a lot of promising signs shown through the season and a lot of players will bebetter having had a season under their belt. There is a good mix of talent and team spiritin the thirds so the ultimate success should be achieved in the near future.

On a personal note it was great to be given the opportunity to captain a STC side again, and the support from the committee was fantastic. The new selection structure in myopinion was very successful and the three selectors did a great job….looking forward tonext year.

Thank You.

fourth XI report

When eleven STC players turned up to the Burwood Cricket Club carpark in earlyNovember 2002 they were in for the ride of their lives!

Who would have thought our season climax possible after round 1. In the first game ofthe year we were bowled out for 39! Thrashed by a team that didn’t even make the four. The one highlight of that bleak afternoon was that it showed us some early signs of whatAndy Daly was going to produce. Rob Hoich, coming out of retirement, might have hadsome doubt on his own future when he tore his stomach muscles, but like a true championhe was back for the long haul.

The year saw many changes with players coming in and out of the side but a constantcore carried the side throughout the season. Major players such as Jack Krohn who hadone of his best seasons with STC, Dales who stepped up to the opening bowlers positionand took on the role in a very professional manner - recording his best season to date.

Experienced players such as Paul Zennaro (Zed) having a great year with the bat, andwith his invaluable advice recommending himself for a bowl. With the back up of youthand enthusiasm supporting the experienced players we were always destined for success.

Players such as Mick McGrath, Dale Nixon, Dean Rogers, Michael O’Connell, and PeterMorrison all contributed to a great team atmosphere and a great team performance on thefield.

The unluckiest player of the year award goes to Garry Chard who was having a greatseason with both bat and gloves only to be injured with 5 matches to go, missing a spot inthe finals. However, he did get to accept the premiership shield, which was fitting!

A special thanks has to go to my vice captain Richard Corbett who was a pillar of strengthall season and who could forget his history making 153 in the semi final ( Kylie held herbreath as he passed that illusive 69).

It was an absolute honor to play each week with such valuable players and support crewwho all had a hand in taking us to the grand final and made my job as captain of the 4th XIboth enjoyable and memorable.

Thank-you to the committee and all those involved in running the club for your support andadvice through-out the season.

fifth XI report

The only conclusion that could be drawn from the 2002-2003 season for the club XI wasone of high achievement. Although we did not achieve our ultimate goal of playing in andwinning a grand final, the attitude and commitment of all players could never bequestioned throughout the whole year.

There were some great highlights during the year from a team prospective. For the firsttime in the history of Fifth XI (formerly Club XI) we were able to beat all teams at leastonce throughout the home and away season, with the highlights being victories overAbbottsford and St. Stephens where quite clearly the opposition had more ability than us,but with a never say die attitude, and amazement from the said opposition, we achievedspectacular come from behind victories.

The theme for all Fifth XI players this year was to give everything your best shot, nevercriticise team mates, and treat the opposition with respect. Because all of these themeswere adhered to by all players, we were able to make the semi-finals.

Although the year ended disappointingly because ultimate success was not achieved, everyone who played for Fifth XI in season 2002-2003 can look back on the season andfeel pretty good about what was achieved by the group.

INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHTS:

Batting: Boags, Chris Johnstone, Peter Mercoulia, Michael Pivetta, Dave Field, ArnieMaskiell, and Obie for taking more body shots than Lester Ellis.

Bowling: Michael Pivetta, Onour Nancarrow, David Grace, Dean RogersMichael Byrne and Adam (mangos) Peatt.

Fielding: Peter Mercoulia (wicket-keeping), Obie, Onour Nancarrow, Michael O’Connell.

Finally, many thanks to the committee for all of their advice and help throughout the year, and all people associated with the club whether it be players, partners, or supporters formaking 2002-2003 an enjoyable and successful one.

club XI report

Three weeks prior to the start of the 200/03 season proper the coming of a new dawning occurred andthe 6th XI was born. The team was to play in ODC2 to accommodate the growing number of playersthis fine club was attracting. The 6th XI, or as they have affectionately become know - ‘the GIMPS’(Granted Inaugural Match Playing Status), played their 1st match with only 9 players against RichmondCity under the leadership of Nick Fennessy with Peter Morrison & Saire Bailey as VC’s. A 1st time teamwith 1st time leaders. But with such heads as Tony Michaelides, Tim “cheeks” Bach & Arnie Maskiellthere was plenty of experience to call upon. The team’s 1st game was successful and the GIMPSstarted their playing life in the best possible way. Little did we know that this was the standard thatcontinued throughout the whole season.

Half way through the year we were sitting equal 1st & captains from other teams were looking to poachthe best we had available. Odds were closed for the 6th’s making the finals. And happily we did not letthe club down.

The 6th had many great matches throughout the season. A lot of the time we won easily, but there is anew rivalry that has been created against other teams. Namely the Anglers, but also the Salvos &Burwood/Canterbury. Few games went for the whole 80 overs but the best game (even being on thewrong side of the result) was against the Anglers where on ‘the stamp’ they scored 292 and we scored274. A great game.

The year saw some magnificent cricketers at their finest. Wielding the willow for 3 figure scores were:M. Scott 102; Saire Bailey 140; Andrew Dawkins 100; Dave Field 115* & 107. Many of the playersregistering their highest scores both for themselves & the club.

Unfortunately there were many chances to take hat-tricks but no one was able to ‘close the deal’. Thisyear also saw other milestones that included Tony Michaelidis playing his 150th game for the club.Unluckily for him his knee only saw it half way through the game. And ‘Cheeks’ Bach took his first everstumping.

With such a great season STC had 2 players in the top ten averages for the ECA & 3 batters in the topten also. Saire Bailey 1st in the bowling & 2nd in the bowling. John Wheatley also close behind on thebowling list. Batters in the top ten included David Field & Nick Fennessy. Needless to say Saire Baileytook just about every award available – 140 runs, 6/18 his best figures – being best player of the team.

We had lost 3 matches, but more importantly we had won 15, which meant that at the end of theseason the GIMPS had cemented themselves into top spot. Momentum was maintained during arelatively easy semi-final against Richmond City. Dave Field scoring a quick-fire 100n.o. The meantthe 6th’s were playing for a flag in their 1st year as a team against friendly rivals Abbotsford Anglers.

We lost the toss & were asked to bowl. Statistics show that the team batting 1st usually wins in the GF.The 6th team is not ‘usual’. We skitled them for 137 thanks to great bowling by Dan Smith, JohnWheatley & Dave Field. The Anglers had choked & this score would not normally be a problem for theteam. Unfortunately we caught the disease from the Anglers and it was due to Dave Field, Steve Ross& Aaron Teelow that we scraped over the line & collect a Premiership Flag & the right to drink for weekson end.

In our 1st year we had managed to do the impossible. A fairytale beginning, perhaps. Next year will beworth waiting for!!

Thanks to the committee for having enough faith (?) & foresight (?) to start a new team. As well as thepearls of wisdom handed across to the team.

NICHOLAS FENNESSYClub XI Captain
