few report cards back so please sign them and return them to school if you have not done this. I also need a few pictures back or the money for them (due yesterday). Thank you, and have a fantastic week!

FIRST GRADE – Mrs. Birnbaum: Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. Psalm 118:1. April book orders went home today. These are due on Monday April 7. Please see the notes about our field trip to the Stephen Fite concert and about the Easter Egg Hunt. Picture orders were due yesterday!! If you are not ordering pictures, please return your packet. Happy April!

SECOND GRADE – Mrs. Powell: Happy April! Attached to this issue is a note explaining a special project. Let me know if you have questions. We invited the first graders to visit our classroom on Wednesday afternoon to introduce them to second grade and the children were wonderful hosts and hostesses. Hard to believe that we're nearly third graders! I've already listened to several children say the 23rd Psalm and they did great! Next week's memory work is considerably easier. Happy April Birthday to Timmy, Evan, and Hannah! God's Blessings, Dear Friends!

THIRD GRADE - Mrs. Steichen/Mrs. Miller: This week we have been doing "Twizzlers" math and "Cheeze Nips" math! Ask your student about it and see if they can calculate perimeter and area correctly. We are also reviewing for a social studies test, spelling test, and a math assessment on Friday. Our memory work this week is The 7th Commandment: You shall not steal. What does this mean? We should fear and love God so that we do not take our neighbor's money or possessions, or get them in any dishonest way, but help him to improve and protect his possessions and income. We thank Mr. and Mrs. Mills very much for working on our auction project. Have a blessed week!

FOURTH GRADE - Mrs. Sibley: We are back into the swing of things after spring break. We will be having a math test tomorrow. We reviewed on Tuesday. Book orders are also due tomorrow. Come by the room to see the Rose Hill Auction Quilt that was featured on Facebook. My, does it remind us of our Rose Hill day! The AR Party is this Friday. Bring your costume to change into later at school. I have seen many diligent students reading during every spare moment they have, so we are already earning our goals. Please continue to keep the immune system healthy and strong in the changing of the seasons. Fill in the blank memory for 04/09/14 is And now, O Lord GOD, you are God, and your words are true, and you have promised this good thing to your servant. 2 Samuel 7:28 (ESV)

FIFTH GRADE - Mrs. Schatte: Hasn't the spring-like weather been a huge blessing?! Tests this week include(d), math, today, and spelling and reading on Friday. Please see my Fast Direct Bulletin Board for an update on the country oral reports and information on a book report that was assigned Monday for this quarter. Happy Birthday in April to David (5) and Braley (22). Thanks to Mrs. Hamre for putting together an exciting AR party for us. We're really looking forward to Friday! Blessings!

PO-HI, HI-STEPPER TRYOUTS: Tryouts are Wednesday, April 9th at 4:00 pm. Come out and join the fun!! ELIGIBILITY TO PARTICIPATE (team sports, cheerleading, or other extra-curricular activities): With the

approaching track season, please remember that students involved in extra-curricular activities will have their grade status evaluated at the beginning of every three weeks. A student who has a grade below 70% in any subject will be put on probation. During that time, the student will be given an opportunity to raise the grade above 69.9%. The student must take action to raise the grade. Failure to raise the grade will result in suspension from the extra-curricular activity until the next three week grade check. After the first probationary period, a student will be suspended from the extra-curricular activity when any grade drops below 70%. Suspensions are enforced and lifted on the first school day of the week. (Any students failing a subject on their report card will be suspended from extra-curricular activities until all grades are passing at the three week check point.)

Mrs. Harbeson: Isn't the weather just beautiful?! I guess I'm enjoying it even more this year because I remember how cold it was all those winter months. Isn't it awesome that God knows just when to send the warm sunshine into our lives? Just when we think that we can't take one more thing, (one more cold day) He throws us that lifeline and draws us close to Him and keeps us moving forward. I hope that you can truly enjoy the blessings in your life, even if you're facing the darkest and coldest winter months. God IS with you, and He WILL save you! In language, we are continuing our work in all our subjects. All classes took their spelling and vocabulary tests today. Everyone should expect a grammar test sometime next week. For 8th graders...our OSU trip is scheduled for Friday, May 2. More information will come home as the day nears. That's it for now. Blessings on the rest of your week!

Mrs. Hanson: 8th Grade is really catching on to this new content. The girls who missed some school for the tournament may need some extra help to catch up. Just let me know and I am more than willing to have some one on one sessions to clear things up.

7th Grade will test Friday over Earth's atmosphere. 6th Grade has had one guest speaker and is expecting at least 2 more. A huge thank you to Mr. Lorenz with

Blattner Energy who spoke with us about wind power. We can also be expecting a quiz sometime this week. On the Cheerleading side of things, Tryouts is among us! Tryout week will begin with 3 days of practice, learning

cheer, jumps, and dances, and will end with Mock Tryouts the next Wednesday, which parents are encouraged to attend, and closed Tryouts the next Thursday.

Cheerleaders are also a huge part of the spring auction every year. The girls play Vanna White as they display the pieces being auctioned, help in the daycare, and with dinner. So ALL current cheerleaders are asked to save this date and plan on being at the auction, Saturday, April 12.

Mrs. Goll: This quarter will go by so fast. I've seen some great effort by our students at the start of this quarter. Keep it up, Students. Algebra students are concluding their unit on quadratic equations. Pre-algebra 8 is working on percent increase and decrease. Pre-algebra 7 is concluding a unit on real numbers and right triangles. General 7 is finishing a unit on percents and graphs. Both sixth grade groups are finishing a study of geometric relationships. All groups will be having tests one day next week. Have a great week growing in the Lord.

Mr. Watters: Academics- There are no exams scheduled for this week. 6th grade is currently studying the renaissance and reformation. Seventh grade is studying East Africa, and eighth grade is studying the roaring twenties and the Great Depression. All classes will have a major project this quarter. Details will be presented in the next week. Athletics-well our girls are back from Valpo and though they lost two games, I am sure it was a good experience and one of the losses was to the national champions. All in all, it was a great season. Details of an end of the year basketball banquet is in the works. Our young people in track will be performing this Thursday at the Ponca City invitational. Go Cardinals. As school is winding down, I covet your prayers for a successful ending to what has been a great school year.

Mr. Redwine: Thanks for a great basketball season! If your child hasn’t turned in their uniform, please have them turn it in to Mr. Redwine this week during Study Hall (2-2:30 p.m.) Track is now getting underway and we have our first meet this Thursday at Ponca City for 6th – 8th grade. Our normal practice schedule will be Monday and Friday, 2:30 – 3:20, and Tuesday and Thursday, 3:30 – 4:30.
