Controls and functions
Two types of electromechanical controls are available:
a) control for unit without electric heater.
b) control for unit with electric heater.
Both the controls are electromechanical and do not therefore permitthe operation of groups of units and/or the connection of supervisorand control systems.• Position the control on a non-perimeter wall• Position the control away from sources of heat• Position the control so that it is not reached by the air flow leaving
the unit• Position the control away from doors, windows and air currents• Position the control at 1.5 m from the floor.
Control for unit without electric heater (figure 1)This control permits two types of temperature control:• water control: by opening and closing the solenoid and stopping
the fan at the same time.• controlling the air: in this case the solenoid is not fitted, control
takes place by switching the fan on and off.
Note: If the air is controlled and water is circulated, condensate may form on the unit. The control functions are: on/off (switching on and off the unit chosen by the user); three fan speeds chosen by the user; user choice of room temperature.
If the installation includes both cooling and heating operation, aseason change-over thermostat (accessory) must be installed onthe water piping before any valve present. If the installation includes operation in only one of the two cooling orheating modes, no season change-over device is necessary.
The printed circuit is supplied fitted with a jumper which permitsoperation in cooling mode only - to permit operation in heatingmode only , the jumper must be moved to the appropriateposition.
Jumper positions on the change-over terminal block
Control for unit with electric heater (figure 2)This control regulates by opening and closing the valve and byswitching the heater on and off based on the selected set-point.This control does not permit temperature control by switching thefan on and off (air control). The control functions are: on/off (switching the unit chosen by the user on/off) three fan speeds chosen by the user the user selecting the room temperature cooling/ventilation/heating only (user chooses the operation
mode).
Manual reset of the second electric heater protectionthermostat
Electric heater safety protection function
This function is supplied as standard only for units with electricheaters and is executed by two thermostats whose capillary pipesare inserted into the fins of the heat exchanger coil. The thermostats are both independent and electrically connected inseries. The first, an automatically reset thermostat switches off theheaters if the heat exchanger coil temperature rises above 60°Cand permits re-starting when the heat exchanger coil temperaturefalls below 45°C.The second, a manually reset thermostat switches off the heaters ifthe heat exchanger coil temperature rises above 75°C, and permitsre-starting only when both of the two following conditions aresatisfied:a) the heat exchanger coil temperature falls to 45°Cb) the reset button - accessed through the front panel - is pressed.
The operation of manually resetting the second safetythermostat MUST be exlusively performed by TechnicalAssistance Service personnel.
Positioning the coil high temperature protection thermostat bulb
Maximum water temperature protection functionThis function is only used for units with an electric heater and unitenabled for simultaneous electric heater and hot water operationduring installation. This function is executed by a thermostat(accessory), whose bulb is positioned in contact with the waterentering manifold; the thermostat stops the electric heaters whenthe water temperature entering the unit rises above 45°C. If thisthermostat is not installed, the unit cannot operate in heating mode.If this thermostat is incorrectly installed, permanentdeformation to the plastic parts of the unit may be caused dueto the high temperatures that may be reached.
Cold draft prevention functionThis function is supplied on units without electric heater; in theheating cycle it stops the fan from creating discomfort by blowingtoo much cold air into the room. This function is executed via a thermostat whose bulb is located onthe water entering manifold of the heat exchanger coil.

At this point the unit can be installed by completing the water andelectrical connections.
Hook the unit onto the hanging plate, using the lower hooks andchain .
Finish making the water connections
If the installation is executed with the aid of the panel with valves, connect the flexible pipes to the coil pipes following the“inlet/outlet” indications on the plate (IN/OUT plate on the pipes).
To ensure correct installation, it is important to make certain thatthe 90° coupling on the flexible pipe is perpendicular to the unitback when tightening this to the unit pipes.
If the installation is made using the panel without valves, connect the system pipes to the coil pipes following the water“inlet/outlet” indications (IN/OUT plate on the pipes).
Unit installation

Note:Do not bend or crush the unit pipes.Avoid tight bends with a radius of less than 100 mm.Do not bend the pipe more than three times in the same place.Do not excessively compress the insulation on the connection pipeswith clamps and tape.
Condensate drain pipe and other piping
Position the condensate drain pipe towards its hole in the panel andensure that this slopes towards the outside.Connect this pipe to a suitable drain using PVC pipe. The horizontal lengths between the indoor unit and the drain musthave a minimum slope of 2%.
Completing the electrical connections
Complete the electrical connections by connecting the unit wiringconnectors to the printed circuit (see the Electrical Connectionsparagraph).
Check
Check that the system is filled with water and check the tightness ofall connections/fittings.
Finally wrap connections with anti-condensate insulation andtighten with tape, without exerting great pressure on the insulation.Repair and cover any possible cracks in the insulation.Connection pipes and electric cables must be fixed to the wall usingappropriate conduits.
Carefully insulate the pipes close to the valve couplings to preventcondensate from forming on them and possible dripping.

ATTENTION:Before hanging the unit, position the chain by hooking it intothe hole provided.
Hook the unit onto the hanging panel.Make sure the unit fits on the panel.
Tighten down screw on the panel to ensure safety.
If necessary, release the unit and reverse the procedure.
Pour water into the unit condensate pan and check that it flowsfreely to the drain.
Air venting
The upper coil coupling has an air vent and drain valve, adjustablewith 8 and 12 mm spanners.
Air must be vented from the hydraulic circuit. To perform thisoperation it is sufficient to use the valve on the coil. This operation must be performed with the unit hanging on thepanel in a vertical position.
DrainingIf the unit has to be removed, the water in the coil can be drained inthe following way:• Un-hook the unit and position it in a horizontal position using the
chain and hooks;• close the shut-off valves situated before the valve;• to drain, open the air vent valve on the coil;• slowly slacken the connection between the pipe and the coil pipe. This operation permits partial coil draining; in any case, the quantityof drained water is sufficient to guarantee removal of the unitwithout any further water losses, when disconnecting theconnections between the flexible pipes and unit pipes. Before removing the unit, we recommend closing the two unit pipeswith plugs to prevent the small amount of water left running out ofthe coil.
Unit installation
Thermo-electric valve operation• This 3-way valve is of the ON/OFF type with very slow
movement. It is not a modulation valve. This valve is controlled by the controlinstalled in the same room as the unit.
• The thermo-electric valve is normally closed towards the coiland open towards the bypass route. The valve opens in around 3 minutes circulating the water in thecoil.
• When the desired room temperature is reached, the valvecloses in around 3 minutes towards the coil and opens towardsthe bypass.
The valve is factory-connected and no connection is thereforeneeded.
