Safety informationCAUTION! Hearing Safety This product is designed to amplify sounds to ahigh volume level which could potentially causehearing damage if used improperly. To protectyour hearing and the hearing of others:

• Make sure the volume is turned downbefore putting on the earphone orheadphone before adjusting the volumeto a comfortable level.

• Set the volume level at the minimumsetting that you need to hear.

• If you experience feedback (a squealing orhowling sound), reduce the volume settingand move the microphone away from theearphone or headphone.

Getting started

1. Listenor Pro uses two AAA disposable batteries.

2. Open the battery compartment using your thumbto apply pressure to the ribs on the battery doorand slide it down and away from the Listenor Pro.

3. Insert two disposable AAA batteries into thebattery compartment being careful to placethem with the correct orientation of positive(+)and negative(-) terminals.

4. Close the battery compartment door byaligning it on the back of the unit and slide itupwards until it snaps into place.

5. Insert the belt clip on the rear of the ListenorPro as directed on page 9.

6. Plug the earphones or headphones into thesocket marked with the headphone icon. The Listenor Pro can be used with optionalInductive Neck Loop, headphones or earphones.

7. Switch on the Listenor Pro by pressing thecentral button in the middle and holding downfor two seconds. The light in the centre willflash green indicating that the Listenor Pro ison. When the battery is low the light in thecentre will flash red.

8. Adjust the volume up or down by pressing thecentral button at the top-for volume up-or at thebottom-for volume down. A light will indicate thevolume level, with a full line indicating maximumvolume. There are 16 volume positions. A singlebeep sound is heard when you change thevolume setting. A double beep is heard when thehighest or lowest volume setting is reached.

9. Adjust the tone by pressing the central buttonon the right to increase the high frequencygain, and on the left to increase the lowfrequency response. The high and low settingsare indicated by a double beep sound.

10. To switch off the Listenor Pro just press thecentre of the button for two seconds.

Everyday use

Listenor Pro is designed to pick up the sound ofa speaker’s voice and amplify that sound for thebenefit of the user. Place the Listenor Pro asclose to the sound source as possible, with themicrophone pointing in the direction of thespeaker or sound source.

You can place the Listenor Pro on the table in arestaurant, group situation or meeting. Placingon the table with the belt clip attached will alsoraise the microphone to point at the speaker orspeakers.

When out walking the Listenor Pro can be wornusing the belt clip, which can also be used as alapel or pocket clip, or attached to a skirt.

You can also connect to a number of differentaudio sources using the optional accessories-seePage 10.

Using with earphones and headphones

Listenor Pro is provided with earphones.Headphones can be purchased instead ofearphones. Plug the earphones or headphonesinto the socket marked with the headphone icon.

Using with an inductive neckloop

When you wish to use an inductive neckloop withyour hearing instrument please follow theinstructions below:

(a) Setting up the hearing instrument(s)Switch your hearing Instrument to telecoilmode or the “T” programme but do not adjustits volume control. With Listenor Pro switchedon point it towards the sound you wish tolisten to. As you turn up the volume control onListenor Pro, you should begin to hear thesound you want to hear clearly. Listenor Prohas now taken over from your hearinginstrument microphone. This is a bit likehaving the hearing Instrument microphone inyour hand.

(b) Checking the Sound BalanceIt is important to match the volume levels ofyour hearing instrument with Listenor Pro, sothat you can switch between the two withoutany increase or decrease in sound level.

(c) External interferenceWhen the hearing instrument is set to the“T” programme, a buzz may be heard if thehearing instrument is close to strip lighting,computers or TV Screens. Consult youraudiologist for advice on adjusting orreplacing the telecoil for optimum use tominimise the external interference. If you donot Listenor Pro will only serve to amplify thisinterference.

Attaching the belt clip

The belt clip slides into the grooves on the backof the Listenor Pro and locks into place under thetongue next to the microphone. It can also beused as a lapel or pocket clip. See the diagramon page 4.

Sockets and connections

Listenor Pro has a socket marked with themicrophone icon which can be used with anumber of connecting cables and devicesavailable as accessories.

1. Directional microphoneWhere there is a lot of background noise,Listenor Pro can be used with a directionalmicrophone for focussing on the sound of thespeaker. The directional microphone will cutout much of the interfering noise improving thequality and clarity of the listening experience.The directional microphone can be placednext to the sound source, including the TV, orattached to your partner’s lapel in the car.Conversor accessory microphones areavailable from your local dealer.

2. TV cable with SCART adaptor (Europe)The SCART socket is a multi-pin socket foundon the rear of many TVs, Satellite and Cableset-top boxes and DVD players.

Connect the TV Cable to the SCART Adaptorand plug the jack plug into the Microphone.Plug the SCART adaptor into the TV or otherdevice. Connection through the SCARTadaptor allows others to listen to the deviceas well. If there are insufficient SCARTsockets available on your TV you canpurchase a SCART multi-adaptor from mostelectrical stores or websites which will allowyou to connect Listenor Pro to the TV.

3. TV cable (USA/ROW)Your TV will most likely have Phono or RCAsockets. These are small circular rings with ared or white plastic insert and they may belocated on the front or rear of the device(Please refer to the device user’s manual). Aswith the SCART adaptor, connection does notdisconnect the speakers, allowing others tolisten at the same time. You can connectListenor Pro to these sockets using the TVcable supplied. You may require a DigitalAnalogue Converter (“DAC”) for certain TVs.These can be purchased locally from yourdealer or from the internet.

4. Audio cableMost current TV, radio, PC, iPod and otheraudio devices have a headphone socket.Plug Listenor Pro audio cable into this socketto connect the audio device. By plugging theaudio cable into the headphone socket on theTV or audio device, the speaker of the audiodevice will be disconnected, so that otherpeople cannot listen at the same time.

5. Telephone kitListenor Pro can be used with the TelephoneKit accessory for connecting to landlinetelephones. The Telephone Kit provides aconnection to the handset socket enabling youto increase the volume of the caller’s voiceand speak into the telephone as normal.Some cordless telephones have a jack socketwhich can be connected to the Listenor Prousing the audio cable accessory.

6. Conversor Pro RecorderConversor Pro Recorder is a downloadableApp available for iPad®, iPhone® or iPodTouch® devices and Windows 8 tablets andlaptops. It records a lectures, meetings orconversations which you can then play backand amplify using Listenor Pro.

Using the neck lanyard

The neck lanyard allows you to conveniently movearound with your listening device and protects itfrom being accidentally dropped. It is available forquick and easy use and the Listenor Pro can beused by holding it in your hand and pointingtowards the direction of the speaker or soundsource, or by just wearing it around your neck.The neck lanyard can be attached to the ListenorPro in the same way as a mobile phone orcamera lanyard.

Care instructions

• The Listenor Pro has been calibrated foroptimum use.

• Do not store Listenor Pro in extremetemperatures. This can shorten the lifetimeof the batteries and affect use. Hightemperatures can also reduce performance.

• Do not subject Listenor Pro to heavyshock. Do not drop it.

• Keep the Listenor Pro away from moistureand high humidity – it is not waterproof.

• Avoid contact with water or other liquidswhich could damage the internalelectronics.

• Try to avoid long periods of exposure todirect sunlight.

• Do not attempt to open the casing ofthe Listenor Pro (other than the batterycompartment to change the battery).It contains no user-serviceable parts.Opening it will invalidate theManufacturer’s Warranty.(See Page 15)

Troubleshooting

Listenor Pro has been designed for ease of use.However, if you do have trouble, check thefollowing:

1. Make sure the headphones, earphones orinductive neck loop are plugged into thesocket with the icon and any accessorycable, the telephone connector, audio cable,TV cable, or directional microphone isplugged into the socket with the icon.

2. Ensure that the batteries are not run downand have been inserted correctly into thebattery compartment.

3. If the steps above do not solve the problemcontact your nearest Conversor Dealer orRepair Centre.

Manufacturer’s warrantyThe manufacturer, Conversor Limited, issuesa two-year limited warranty to the originalconsumer of this product. This warranty willgo into effect upon the date of original purchaseof this equipment, and shall remain in effect fortwo calendar years from that date. The batteries,earphones, headphones, cables and allother accessory products carry a 90 daylimited warranty.

What is covered by this warranty?Any electronic component which, because ofworkmanship, manufacturing, or design defects,fails to function properly under normal use duringthe life of this warranty will be replaced or repairedat no charge for parts or labour when returned tothe point of purchase. Transportation costs shallbe paid by the customer. If it is determined thatrepair is not feasible, the entire unit may bereplaced with an equivalent unit upon mutualagreement of the Dealer and the customer.

What is not covered by this warranty?This two-year limited warranty does not apply to:

• Malfunctions resulting from abuse, neglect,or accident.

• Peripheral accessories as itemized withinthe product brochure, when such itemsare returned after 90 days from theoriginal purchase.

• Batteries which are covered by the 90 daylimited warranty.

• Instruments installed, connected, used,or adjusted in a manner contrary to theinstructions provided.

• Consequential damages and damagesresulting from delay or loss of this unit.The exclusive remedy under this warrantyis strictly limited to repair or replacementas herein provided.

• Products damaged in transit unlessinvestigated by the shipper and returned tothe warrantor with the investigation report.

The manufacturer reserves the right to makechanges in the design or construction of any ofits products at any time without incurring anyobligation to make any changes whatsoever onunits previously purchased.

This warranty is in lieu of all other expressedwarranties by the manufacturer. Norepresentative or person is authorized torepresent or assume for the manufacturer anyliability in connection with the sales or use ofthis products other than as set forth above.

If your unit requires service under the termsof this warranty, carefully package thecomplete product to prevent damage in transitand return it to the point of purchase. Includea detailed description of the problem, yourfull name, billing and shipping address,and telephone number.

The above warranty does not affect any legalrights that you might have under applicablenational legislation governing the sale ofconsumer goods. Your point of purchase mayhave issued a warranty that goes beyond theclauses of this limited warranty. Please consultyour point of purchase for further information.
