4/Pink Show Us How It’s Done

Students in 4/Pink, (4/G) lead the way planting native trees and Jacarandas around the

school. A group of the year fours teamed up with children from the Acacia Hill class to plant

a Jacaranda in the front of the school.

Peata got together with her friends to plant a gum tree to remember her big sister who

passed away earlier in the year. Students from year one joined in to help plant a second

Jacaranda around by the junior soccer field.

Sturt Desert Peas were also replanted in the garden at the front of the school and we hope

that next Spring we will see the lovely red and black flowers.

While out planting in the school grounds students learnt about the importance of looking

after the trees we planted last year and looking after this year’s new trees. They learned to

safely use a range of gardening tools and equipment while digging, raking, weeding, mulch-

ing and watering.

I love my class. LI: 5P are learning their Stage Spelling Lists. Sac: I can write my spelling words on coloured paper I can display them in a pattern on the floor I can learn my words by testing a buddy playing a game. Eg. Find a word in 3 sec-onds or Spell a word I. 3 seconds

Being passionate about motorsport, one of my favourite games across all of our schools is "King of the desert".

Each student "grids up" wearing a " Jetcor Yamaha" blue or "Desert Edge Honda" red tag tucked into their shorts as a tail. After starting our engines the game begins as students dash around attempting to pull out the opposing teams’ tails. The last student left with a tail takes the podium as King of the Desert.

Bluearth is about engaging the kids and giving them ownership using reflection and asking for feedback. One adaption we added in was "fuel stops" in the form of two hoops where - like the riders- the kids can grab a quick breather.

Make sure you take some time this long weekend to explore your surroundings as a family and have a shared active experience.

Stay safe and go the Yamaha's!!!
