Who Am I ????

Giraffe:Males are called bulls.

Females are called cows.Young are called calves.Giraffes tongues are black!They are strong enough tokill their only predator, thelion. They usually sleep onlyfive minutes at a time!Giraffes can gallop 31-37mph! A giraffes tongue is 18inches long! Giraffes cansurvive a long time withoutwater.

The Early Years

A mother giraffe can have ababy standing up. When thebaby is born it can be up tosix feet tall! In about onehour after it’s born it willbegin walking. And it willspend 16-20 hours a dayfeeding. Sometimes mothergiraffes have a “daycare” forother mothers, she watchesthe babies for them whilethey get food.

Habitat Sweet Habitat

Giraffes live in Africa.Since they can go along time withoutwater, they are finewith the heat. Theyeat the leaves offtrees.

What’s on the Menu???

A giraffe eats onlyleaves. MostlyAcacia leaves. Withtheir long necksthey can reach thetallest trees to gettheir leaves.

It’s tracks would befound only on theground. In theSavannas in Africa.

Each giraffe has a uniquepattern on their coat.Giraffes are one of theworlds most peaceful,strong, and largeanimals. They haveenough strength to killa lion. Giraffes havebeen heard mooing likecows. If a lion is kickedby a giraffe it can die.

Giraffes are found inAfrica only.
