2.0 STANDARD MACHINE DESCRIPTION

Mitsubishi's 3015NX-60CF-R 6000 Watt Laser Cutting System includes the machine base, machine

motion system, ducted and zoned cutting table, full side safety covers, automatic pallet changer,

automatic lubrication system, high-speed processing head, CNC controller, laser resonator, and chiller

unit. The end user needs to supply the connections and consumables needed according to the Facility

Requirements Manual.

2.1 MACHINE BASE

The CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) Fine Grain Mitsubishi Dianite Machine Casting

guarantees increased rigidity, accuracy, and repeatability, a crucial element in the stability of the

laser beam delivery system. The NX series machine base and gantry columns are of a single-

piece, single platform, ultra rigid Dianite cast frame. This provides the ultimate stability that

ensures the high-speed processing accuracy. The rigidity of the processing machine is greatly

improved over steel weldment base designs.

2.2 MACHINE MOTION SYSTEM

The three-axis machine motion system consists of a traveling bridge, flying optics design that is

driven by the latest "state of the art" Mitsubishi Smart Servo Drive System. The machine motion

system simultaneously moves the constant mass high-speed traveling bridge and cutting head in

the X" and Y" axis over the material to be cut. The high speed cutting head is simultaneously

moved in the Z" axis to the material surface. This motion system design allows for the high

speed, reliable cutting of materials regardless of the sheet weight. The material does not move

and allows for the cutting of cosmetic sensitive surfaces that require no scratching. This design

allows for an easier integration of the Mitsubishi MSCIII Modular Material Handling Systems

now or in the future.

2.3 LINEAR Z AXIS

Mitsubishi Linear drive propels the processing head at 4G’s of force. Linear drive quickly

adapts to changes in the metal surface at higher processing speeds increasing productivity. The

maximum processing feed-rate is now 2360"/min.

2.4 DUCTED & ZONED CUTTING TABLE

The cutting table comes with mild steel grates on 3" centers to support the material. The table

weight capacity is based on a full 5' x 10' sheet of 1.0" mild steel. The table comes with an 12"

inch duct inlet for the connection of the optional dust collector. The table is equipped with a

center mounted multi-chamber exhaust system that is ducted and zoned for efficient removal of

smoke and dust from the cutting source area. There are three scrap drawers on wheels that are

located under the ducted and zoned area for easy and reliable removal of scrap. A nozzle

cleaning brush device and automatic sensor calibration plate for the capacitive sensing head is

supplied with the table.

2.5 FULL SIDE SAFETY COVERS

Mitsubishi safety package includes full side safety covers and electronic eyes surrounding the

pallet changer.

2.6 AUTOMATIC PALLET CHANGER

The NX Series machine design utilizes a High-Speed Open Style Pallet Changer. The open

design allows for easy access to cut parts and loading/unloading of material. The heavy-duty

pallet tables are designed to handle up to a full sheet of one-inch mild steel plate. The pallet

table design allows for the standard integration of Mitsubishi Laser's "World Class" MSCIII

Modular Automated Material Handling Systems.

2.7 PALLET CHANGER OPERATION STAND

The pallet changer operation stand is a separate control panel located near the pallet changer for

easy operation. It additionally features a process start/stop button.

2.8 AUTOMATIC LUBRICATION SYSTEM

This system automatically lubes all machine motion system components for greater reliability

and reduced maintenance.

2.9 REFLECTION ABSORBING THIN FILM REFLECTOR (ATFR) Bend mirror that decreases back reflections into the resonator that can occur while cutting

reflective materials. This machine employs 2 antireflection devices (ATFR mirror and High

Speed Power Sensor).

2.10 BEAM PATH ANTIREFLECTION APETURES

Innovative system ensures reflections that re-enter the beam path will not burn the bellows.

2.11 DIAMOND PATHTM

OPTICAL DELIVERY SYSTEM

Innovative system ensures a constant beam size and cut quality over the entire processing area to

maximize cutting consistency, speed, and edge quality.

2.12 BEAM OPTIMIZER (BO)

The BO allows the user to control the beam size to optimize processing speed and performance

based on material type and thickness. The parameters are automatically set when the cutting

condition file is searched. Our BO mirror lasts longer from less fatigue due to variable stress

from constant movement. Our competitors constantly flex their adaptive optic to control focus.

2.13 LOW ABSORBING TRZ-2

TRZ-2 bend mirrors are utilized to increase power available to the work-piece.

2.14 MULTIFUNCTION VISIBLE LASER

Visible laser is standard on all Mitsubishi laser systems.

2.15 PROGRAMMABLE HIGH ASSIST GAS PRESSURE

Automatic function eliminates the need to make manual settings on a regulator.

2.16 HIGH SPEED PROCESSING HEAD The NX Series advanced high-speed processing head incorporates automatic-focus adjustment,

quick-change lens cartridge system, capacitance sensor, nozzle and anti-plasma technology all in

one cutting head that features 7.5" and 10.0" lens configuration. An additional processing head

can be purchased with the 5.0" and 7.5" lens configuration.

AUTOMATIC FOCUS ADJUSTMENT This feature uses a motorized lens system controlled by the CNC controller. When the cutting

condition is searched, the lens is moved to the optimum focus position automatically.

QUICK-CHANGE LENS CARTRIDGE SYSTEM The quick-change lens cartridge system enables a very easy, quick-change of the lens from 5.0" to 7.5"

or 7.5" to 10.0" focal length. Each lens cartridge has an onboard IC chip that memorizes the last

“Zero” lens position. When the cartridges are exchanged, the “Zero” position is automatically

adjusted.

CAPACITANCE HEIGHT SENSOR The capacitance sensor is a programmable non-contact type height control mechanism that provides an

accurate and consistent nozzle standoff, across the entire sheet while compensating for thickness

variations or waviness of the material.

NOZZLE The nozzle controls the flow of assist gas for the efficient removal of waste material from the cut or

kerf. Versatile nozzle configurations such as double nozzle technology can be supplied for both high

speed cutting of thin materials and high quality thick plate cutting, all using only one processing head.

HIGH-SPEED ANTI-PLASMA TECHNOLOGY The cutting head utilizes high-speed anti-plasma technology for high speed cutting of mild steel,

galvanized steel, stainless, and aluminum when using nitrogen or air-assist gas. If plasma occurs it can

interrupt the cutting process of these materials resulting in bad edge quality or stopping the cutting

process altogether on a head without anti-plasma technology. The anti-plasma technology assures that

the cutting process is regulated in real time to filter out the frequency of the plasma. This is an

extremely important feature, and has huge benefits when the cutting process is being automated.

MICROMETERS FOR NOZZLE CENTERING

With the addition of micrometers, nozzle centering is simplified and repeatable.

2.17 MITSUBISHI CNC CONTROLLER

Mitsubishi’s newest and most advanced 64-Bit PC Touch Screen NC Control is a PC based

system utilizing a Windows-Style graphic user interface. It provides color graphics, multi-

window screens, full multi-tasking, interactive help screens, and convenient touch screen control.

LARGE PROGRAM STORAGE NC programs can be processed directly with the 1.8MB ROM board and the 10GB hard drive.

USB PORT Easily download cutting parameters, programs or history to a USB memory stick. Easily connect

peripheral devices, like a keyboard.

ETHERNET LAN High-speed connectivity to the corporate network allows simple data transfer.

RECTANGULAR NESTING Allows the user to quickly set up a simple nest for any job right at the controller. The nested pattern

can also be saved for repeat orders.

EXTRA LARGE DATA BASE Up to 17000 cutting conditions can be stored on the NC. Additional conditions can be stored on the

hard drive.

ADAPTIVE CUTTING CONDITIONS Adaptive Cutting Conditions adapt to the part material and material thickness through geometry

recognition.

QUICK PIERCE OIL SPRAY SYSTEM This feature allows high speed piercing of thicker materials with very high power resulting in

a dramatic reduction of pierce time. It consists of the following:

Oil Spray: Prevents the adhesion of material to the surface of the pierced hole.

Air Blow: Removes the slag from the area around the pierce hole.

JET PIERCE TECHNOLOGY Equipped with a side air jet, Jet Pierce technology is made possible. This technology pierces with a

small pierce hole very quickly. Processing holes smaller than the material thickness in mild steel is

faster and easier.

SLOPE PIERCE Slope Pierce ramps power, frequency and duty while conventional piercing. Decreases small pierce

hole penetration time.

CORNER CONTROL Allows acute angle processing without special programming.

START/END CONTROL Start/End Control provides greater control while processing at the start and end of a contour.

START-AFTER-FEED HOLD Allows a smooth cutting surface if the machine suspends during processing.

DROSS REDUCTION CONTROL (DRC) This feature uses real-time advanced NC program “look ahead” technology to determine maximum

processing speed based on material, thickness, and part geometry while reducing dross. Power is

ramped with acceleration or deceleration.

LOW FREQUENCY PULSE 5-Hertz control allows very intricate geometry to be processed easily.

PLASMA GUARD CONTROL Plasma Guard (PG) control smoothly steps up acceleration on the pierce line and corner sections. PG

control restricts the generation of plasma in stainless steel plate which improves cutting quality,

stability and ease of use.

INTELLIGENT ASSIST GAS PURGE Assist gas automatically purges before the start of processing, ensuring the lens chamber is full. This

feature reduces cutting failures at the start of processing.

AUTOMATIC QUICK GAS CHANGE Controller automatically recognizes assist gas change is required and executes a Quick Assist Gas

Change. This function reduces programming and operation time for productive dual assist gas

processing. There are three assist gas ports provided with automatic switching via the laser cutting

condition parameters.

INTELLIGENT ASSIST GAS MONITORING Intelligent Assist Gas Monitoring compares the assist gas pressure exiting the nozzle to the pressure

set in the cutting condition. If the pressure differential is between 10% to 15%, a warning will be

issued by the controller. If the pressure differential is greater than 15%, an alarm will occur.

MAINTENANCE GUIDE Step by step instructions and maintenance jigs are now integrated into the machine tool. Mitsubishi is

a manufacturer that prides itself on the machine being safe for customers to do their own maintenance.

EVADE CONTROL Evade Control allows the choice between 3 different methods of motion for the Z-axis while traveling

to and from cutouts. Square evade is a traditional style of movement. The Z-axis moves up before X

and Y axes move. Angle evade is a little faster. The Z-axis moves up while X and Y axes move. Arc

evade provides the fastest motion for the Z-axis. The Z-axis moves on an arc while the X and Y axes

are in motion. When X and Y axes reach the next position, the Z-axis is at the piercing height.

EXPANDED PROCESSING AREA The Expanded Processing Area accommodates over-sized sheets. The X-axis stroke is 126" and the

Y-axis is 63".

LENS FAILURE DETECTION New on the NX, lens failure detection detects when the lens will fail. When a lens failure is detected,

the machine will stop and produce an alarm.

2.19 CHILLER UNIT

The chiller unit cools the laser gas, internal resonator mirrors, external beam delivery mirrors,

and the power supply unit. A closed loop unit that uses water to cool the refrigerant through air

cooled fans, maintaining a constant water temperature and stability of the system. The chillers

water is de-ionized by resin. No chemical additives needed.

2.20 LASER MACHINE INSTALLATION

Assuming all site requirements specified in the machine pre-installation manual have been met, a

MITSUBISHI LASER service engineer will be scheduled for installation. The installation and

maintenance training time of the 3015NX-60CF-R will take approximately 2 weeks to complete.

2.21 LASER MACHINE TRAINING

NX pricing includes attendance at our Level 1 (3-Day Fundamental Operation) LC20B Training

Seminars anytime within your warranty period. These seminars are held at our Chicago or Los

Angeles facilities and are subject to availability and the following conditions:

No more than four (4) students per class from the same company at any one time without

prior arrangement.

Non-warranty on-site training and applications training will be quoted upon request.

2.22 LASER MACHINE WARRANTY

Price includes 12 months parts and labor, unlimited hours, from the date of delivery to

customer's facility.

The warranty will be honored if the maintenance schedules are strictly followed, the machine

is operated according to Mitsubishi’s operating manual, original Mitsubishi replacement and

consumable parts are used, and the machine is in its original unaltered condition.

The warranty does not cover perishable items such as filters, laser optics, lenses,

nozzles, fuses, etc., or parts damaged due to accident or misuse.

4.8 RESONATOR AND ASSIST GAS KIT

This kit is a key element in performance. It is offered to provide optimum performance for the

laser system.

4.9 NITROGEN BEAM PURGE GAS GENERATOR SYSTEM

This feature is a filtration system that converts compressed air into clean, high purity nitrogen for

the beam delivery system. It is used for beam path purge only.

This feature is a nitrogen generator system that makes its own nitrogen or air assist gas for the

purpose of cutting material.

This feature is a nitrogen generator system that makes its own nitrogen or air assist gas for the

purpose of cutting material. This generator has voltage specifications for Canada.

4.12 AIR ASSIST GAS DRYING SYSTEM

This can produce up to 10~36 scfm of clean dry air with an inlet of 100 psig. This dryer greatly

reduces the Total Hydrocarbons (THC) and moisture (H2O) in your air stream to keep your

focusing optic clean while using air as an assist gas. Available models D13, D29 and D36.

4.13 MEL’S EYE (ME) FUNCTIONS (OPTION) The PH-X processing head allows for the option of incorporating the intelligent process

monitoring functions:

BURN DETECTION is effective while piercing or cutting. When burning is detected,

operation will suspend and continue if Restart function is valid.

PIERCE DETECTION is effective while conventional piercing. When penetration is

detected, processing will begin. When penetration is not detected, piercing is given

additional time.

PLASMA DETECTION is effective while processing stainless steel with nitrogen.

When plasma is detected, it is eliminated by automatically changing the cutting

condition. After the successful release of the plasma, the machine continues processing

at the original programmed condition.

AUTO FOCUSING uses MEL’S EYE to automatically detect the focus zone (range at

which a blue arc can be seen). The machine will find the upper and lower limits of this

zone, and then calculates where zero focus is. The lens position is then changed to the

zero focus position.

4.14 AUTOMATIC NOZZLE CHANGER

This Feature allows for 5 nozzle positions with a dedicated NC screen

4.15 CLEAN POWER OPTIONS

Noise is an undesirable addition to the power voltage/current waveform. You will need to install

a 40A fused disconnect or circuit breaker for each transformer that supplies the equipment.

Powergy Clean Power System units aid in the following:

4.24 PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE PLAN (PM1)

The PM1 Plan is designed with the self sufficient shop in mind. This is a once a year, 3 day

comprehensive visit that is meant for shops that consistently perform their own preventative

maintenance on a regular basis, but are looking for the reassurance that an annual in-depth

OEM checkup provides. Our factory trained technicians will go completely through your system

top to bottom to make sure that every aspect of your machine is in peak operating condition, thus

providing your in-house staff with a PM benchmark to work off of for the next 12 months.

4.25 PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE PLAN (PM2)

Our PM2 Plan is just right for the shop that runs a lighter production schedule or lower power

output runs consisting of 1 to 2 shifts per day. This is a more comprehensive program than the

PM1 program providing you with quarterly visits (totaling 5 days) from one of our skilled

technicians. PM2 will have our technicians going over your machine through out the course of

the 4 visits. This provides the end user with the opportunity to perform the more mundane

regular PM in between the quarterly visits, while still accounting for our technicians to tackle the

items that you are not prepared for your staff to take on. The four visits consist of 5 total days, 2

days on the first visit followed by 3 subsequent 1 day visits.

4.26 PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE PLAN (PM3)

The PM3 Plan was created for the majority of our customers. Shops with moderate to heavy

usage, consisting of mid to high power output runs over 2-3 shift per day. This plan provides you

with a visit every 2 months (totaling 8 days). This package will provide our customers with the

comfort of having a very comprehensive PM program performed by our Factory Trained

Technicians, allowing for your companies production schedule to be met with minimal

inconvenience. Although occasional minor PM items may still have to be addressed by your staff

(depending upon your usage rate), the vast majority of our customers will find that this program

will provide them with the reliability they require. The 8 days are dispersed over the 6 visits as

follows: 1st and 4th visit are 2 days in duration the remaining 4 visits are 1 day in duration.

4.27 PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE PLAN (PM4)

Our PM4 package is for our customer who are very heavy laser users, high power outputs

running 3 shifts or running 24/7. This program is our most comprehensive and will have one of

our technicians inside your plant once per month. With this program we will come onsite each

month to go over your machine. These monthly visits account for a total of 14 days onsite, with

the 1st and 7th visits consisting of 2 days each. If your laser is constantly in demand this could be

the program for you.

4.28 3 DAYS ON-SITE TRAINING AND FIELD APPLICATIONS

In addition to the standard machine training at our facility, the option for an additional 3 days of

on-site field applications training is available.
