If you had the power to change

the world one girl at a time,

what would you do?

A SummaryGirls on the Run is a transformational, experiential learning program for 3rd-5th

grade girls that combines training for a 3.1 mile (5K) running event with

self-esteem enhancing, uplifting workouts. Our goal is to educate and empower

preteen girls in order to prevent the display of at-risk activities (substance/

alcohol use, eating disorders, early onset of sexual activity, sedentary lifestyle,

depression, suicide attempts, confrontations with the juvenile justice system.)

Girls on the Run reaches girls between the ages of 8-12, when they are just

beginning to face the challenges of early adolescence but are still receptive

to adult influence, to prepare them to successfully navigate the challenges of

adolescence. Girls complete the program with a stronger sense of identity,

a greater acceptance of themselves, a healthier body image, and a greater

likelihood to continue healthy exercise habits.*

Partnership Opportunities

Program SupportCommunity support is critical to our success. Well over 50% of our girls

are either on full or partial scholarship to participate in our program.

Financial assistance from businesses and individuals ensures that all

girls are able to participate in this transformational program regardless

of their ability to pay the program fee. Our 5K race sponsors help us

offset the costs of our season-culminating event, giving each girl the

opportunity to reach the finish line of the program. Sponsors receive

a variety of recognition and marketing opportunities throughout the

season and at the 5K that capstones the season.

All sponsors receive the following, although the extent to which may

vary by sponsorship level:

• Opportunity to participate in a team’s practice and/or practice 5K

• Complimentary tickets to our fundraisers

• Recognition in our annual report, e-news, social media, and blog

• Complimentary 5K registrations

Girls on the Run and Running ShoesIn Greater Milwaukee, over 50% of participants have a financial need,

which means many of them cannot afford a properly fit pair of running

shoes. With the help of our community partner, InStep Physical Therapy

& Running Center, we fit girls in need with running shoes that will allow

them to cross the finish line healthy and injury free. However, we need

your help to ensure this support continues.

In this spirit, each year we have an annual giving campaign to raise funds

for running shoes. We are one of the few Girls on the Run chapters that

provide a free pair of running shoes to all girls who need them. Each

pair of running shoes cost GOTR $50/pair. $50/pair covers the costs

associated with ordering, inventorying, and coordinating fittings for the

girls who will receive them.

If there are ways that your business or group would like to help

participate in this annual appeal, please contact us for more information.
