Caution: Exhaust system can be extremely hot. Let motorcycle cool down before beginning installation.
Note: Read through all instructions before beginning installation.

1. Remove front and rear seats (front seat is retained by two bolts under rear of seat pad).
2. Remove two rubber covers, rear cowling bolts and two plastic fasteners (see Fig. 1). Remove top section of rear cowling by sliding it backwards being careful not to break off plastic tabs around outside edges.
NOTE: Rear seat locking cable should be disconnected (see Fig. 2).
3. Remove stock muffler mount bolt covers (see Fig. 3).
4. Unbolt and remove stock black plastic midpipe heatshield (see Fig 4).
NOTE: Be careful not to break the plastic tabs on stock heatshield during removal.
5. Loosen stock tailpipe collector clamps. Unbolt stock muffler mount bolts under rear cowling. Tilt muffler(s) sideways and carefully remove left and right mufflers.
6. Remove the right side rear set (see Fig. 5) along with the lower exhaust cover and brake fluid reservoir.
7. Remove stock metal heatshield (see Fig. 6).

8. Remove oxygen sensor from bottom of stock midpipe.
9. Loosen the collector clamp at the inlet of the stock midpipe.
10. Unbolt the midpipe from the frame at two locations and carefully remove it from the bike. Keep the stock chassis mount bracket bolted to the frame as it will be used to mount the Yoshimura midpipe (see Fig. 6 for stock chassis mount bracket location).
11. Install the supplied stainless steel collector clamp over the front of the Yoshimura midpipe.
12. Carefully install the Yoshimura midpipe making sure to line-up the two mounting holes with the frame.
13. Install the two chassis mount bolts to secure midpipe
to the chassis and torque to 2.5 kg-m (18 lb-ft).
14. Torque the stainless steel collector clamp to 1.25 kg-m (9 lb-ft).
15. Reinstall oxygen sensor and tighten to specified torque (check service manual for proper torque specifications).
NOTE: Bottom of stock heat shield needs to be bent and/or cut prior to re-installing.
17. Install stock heatshield using stock screws.
18. Re-install right rear set, lower exhaust cover and brake fluid reservior.
19. Apply heat insulators to inside of muffler clamps and slide clamps onto mufflers (note direction of clamp in Fig. 7).
20. Install tailpipes with mufflers onto Yoshimura midpipe.
21. Install exhaust springs between midpipe, tailpipes and mufflers.

22. Mount muffler clamps to stock muffler mount locations using supplied hardware (see Fig. 7) and torque muffler clamp bolt to 2.5 kg-m (18 lb-ft).
23. Install Yoshimura heatshield to left Yoshimura tailpipe using the supplied bolts (see Parts Diagram on page 5).
24. Reinstall stock tail section in reverse order of removal.
25. It is recommended that the muffler and tailpipe be wiped down with rubbing alcohol to remove oil and fingerprints. This will help prevent tarnishing of the finish after the exhaust is heated up.
26. Before starting motorcycle, check for proper clearance between new exhaust system and motorcycle. (i.e. Radiator, oil pan, swing-arm, etc.) If any problem is found, please carefully follow through the installation steps again. If problem still persists, please call Yoshimura tech. dept. at (800)634-9166 / in CA (909)628-4722.
NOTE: After starting motorcycle, it is normal for new exhaust system and muffler to emit smoke until oil residue burns off.
