El encargo de la viña fue el diseño de una Sala de Degustaciones con una infraestructura capaz de revelar al visitante la geografía y características propias de los viñedos del Fundo San Rafael, en las proximidades de Talca.

The winery’s assignment was the design of a tasting room with an infrastructure capable of revealing to the visitor the geography and specific characteristics of the vineyards in the San Rafael Farm, near Talca.

El nuevo espacio debía descubrir los secretos propios de esta tierra y su naturaleza. Un espacio de retiro contemplativo elegido para la degustación de sus vinos desligado del quehacer propio de las bodegas.El emplazamiento se definió en la mayor de tres lagunas existentes dentro de un campo que posee más de 1.500 ha, enmarcada por un bosque nativo y con vista al volcán Descabezado, los viñedos y un paisaje exuberante.Para preservar la naturaleza intacta y extremar el contacto con la laguna se definió que la Sala debía ‘flotar’ en ella al igual que las terrazas, ubicando la nave de servicios sobre la tierra al igual que las naves de acceso con la forma de una cruz girada en la orilla de contacto con el agua.

The new space had to discover the specific secrets of this earth and its nature. A meditation space chosen for the tasting of its wines, separated from the day to day of the warehouse. The placement was defined in the largest of the three existing lagoons inside a field of more than 1.500 ha, framed by a native forest and with views to the Descabezado Volcano, to the vineyards and to an exuberant landscape. In order to preserve nature, and to make the contact with the lagoon more extreme, it was decided that the Tasting room should “float” similar to the terraces, locating the service nave on ground, as well as the access nave in the form of a cross turned in the border of the water.

La estructura principal es de vigas IN de acero, las cuales que conforman la nave, quedando la Sala de Degustación en volado de 15,5 m completamente suspendida sobre el agua. Este espacio cuelga mediante tensores de la estructura metálica, con parámetros acristalados que integran perfectamente al visitante con toda la naturaleza del lugar. Para los recubrimientos y terrazas se utilizaron roble viejo de demolición aserrado y durmientes de roble natural.El paisajismo y recuperación del borde de la laguna irá sumergiendo poco a poco las instalaciones en tierra, dejando que las salas y sus áreas de terraza emerjan libremente sobre el agua y el paisaje.

The main structure forming the nave are steel “IN” beams, with the Tasting Room in a 15.5m cantilever completely suspended over the water. This space hangs by means of tensors from the metal structure, with glazed parameters that integrate the visitor perfectly with the entire nature of the place. Aged oak of sawed demolitions and sleepers of natural oak were used for the coverings and terraces.The landscaping and recovery of the lagoon’s edge will little by little submerge the facilities on earth, leaving the rooms and its terraces to freely emerge over the water and the landscape.
