Who Am I?
The American Toad are usually small.Thewarts on a toad are not real wart’s they’rejust bumpy skin glands. Two places theylike to live are in forests and swamps.
The Early Years
When the American Toad is young it iscalled a tadpole.The mother lays about1,000 eggs.When the tadpole is inside itsegg it is smaller then the tip of a pencil.
Habitat Sweet Habitat
The American Toad lives under ground.Itusually comes out at night to eat.You canfind an American Toad in grassy areas withwater.The American Toad drinks through itsskin.
What’s On The Menu
The American Toad eats fly’s, crickets, snails,moths,and worms.The American Toad only eats inthe summer because it hibernates in thewinter.Before it hibernates it has to stuff its selfwith food for the long winter months.

The American Toads tracks are vary small.You can find their tracks near ponds,grasslands, lakes, and rivers.

The American toad has lots of warts on itsback. It catches its food with its tongue.The American toad lives on land and water.One enemy is the snake. The maleAmerican toad puffs out its throat to make amating call.

The American toad is found in NorthAmerica usually in North Dakota, SouthDakota and Minnesota. The American Toadlikes places where its warm. It cant moveplaces very fast to the warm places so in thewinter it has to hibernate.
Did You Know? When a toad is in a egg its as small as a pencil tip.
When its winter it burrows into the ground 3 feetdown.
The toad can see under water with out closing itseyes.
If the toad is big enough it can jump 1 foot.
