SCOPE OF OPTIMISATION OF LIGHT FITINGS & AIR CONDITIONING

• Lighting of Metro stations are generally overdesigned and fittings at many locations are kept in switched off condition and this results into passengers’ discomfort and dissatisfaction.

• To address the issue RVNL has taken few measures.

Page 3: 5th metro rail summit at shangri la, cp, new delhi on 11.03.2016

• RVNL is using 3D Lighting Software (DIALUX EVO – 5.2 latest model) to finalise the position, angle, location of the fittings for desired lux level.

• RVNL is selecting the colour of wall, roof, floor, granite etc to have largest possible light reflection factor through this software.

Page 4: 5th metro rail summit at shangri la, cp, new delhi on 11.03.2016

• LED Lights are being provided in Metro stations.• All the LED fitting shall be with intelligence so

that dimming can be done whenever or wherever required. All the required fittings shall be occupancy sensored.

• SOFTWARE (DACCS-HKGSG) is being used for AC tonnage calculation which takes into account of thickness of floor, roof even the presence of main beam, cross beam, pillar etc under the roof to have real time heat load to AC.

• REVIT Architectural Software

New approaches and latest technology to help build in challenging environments

Focus Three:

JOKA MODEL

Page 24: 5th metro rail summit at shangri la, cp, new delhi on 11.03.2016

This model resulted into a saving of Rs 50 Cr.

Page 25: 5th metro rail summit at shangri la, cp, new delhi on 11.03.2016

• Existing system of 33 KV/11 KV/750 v DC replaced by 33 KV/750 V DC for removing requirement Receiving Sub station (RSS) with a cost saving of Rs 300 Cr for 62 Kms planned.

• Existing system of steel third rail is replaced with Aluminum third rail for energy saving by reducing resistive loss.

Adoption of new technologies for Metro Rail Built

Focus Four:

Design of Earth mat

IS 2309 not applicableIEC 62305 applicable

All the Metro Stations have been provided with the Lightning Protection as per IS:2309-1989, which is not only old but does not provide adequate safety. RVNL shall be first one to implement safety as per IEC:62305.

Page 28: 5th metro rail summit at shangri la, cp, new delhi on 11.03.2016

The empirical formula as IEEE Standard-80 & IS 2309 is applicable only when the earth mat is symmetrical which is not possible in a typical elevated Metro station.

Earth Mat designed for Joka Metro Station as per IEEE Standard-80, simulated by using E-TAP Software.

Page 29: 5th metro rail summit at shangri la, cp, new delhi on 11.03.2016

RVNL is perhaps the only Metro Builder in India who has used E-TAP Software for calculations of Step Voltage, Touch Voltage and Grid Voltage for earth mat. Our design does not use abnormally thick concrete slab to compensate the inadequacy in using the standard formula which have a limitation. Our design is not only technically correct, it is the most economical and optimal design.
