6 Series Electric Strike
6 Series Quality
ALL strikes are fully testedto ensure the highest level of quality. Here are just a few of the tests the 6 series strikes undergo:• Cycle testing (100 cycles)• Solenoid coil tests• Keeper function tests• FL/FUL function tests
Every RCI 6 series strike is tested on this unit before labeling and packaging
The test unit is calibrated daily.
Tests Performed on every strike:• Solenoid coil insulation at 600Volts• Solenoid coil resistance• “Run In Test” 100 cycles of solenoid• Lock Mode – Fail Locked/Fail Unlocked• Keeper function• Minimum Activation Voltage
Any strike that does not pass this test is sent back to the lab for analysis.
All units are date code stamped for production tracking
All strikes are weighedto check for materialdensity and correctpackage components
By weighing each strike and comparing this to a benchmark weight, we are able to make sure that all components are shipped with each strike.
“Static Strength”
6 Series = Level 2: 1000 pounds-force
This test involves a steadily increasing force applied to the door. This would be like backing a car up
against a door a slowly pushing on it. Interesting to note that all the “Grade 1 Commercial” lock
sets we used for this testing failed after the test. So in reality, the electric strike strength is the secondary to the
strength of the lock set, door and frame.
“Dynamic Strength”
6 Series = Level 1: 70 foot-pounds-force
This test involves a 100 lb battering ram device that swings like a pendulum against the door. This test is repeated 5
times and is designed to simulate someone kicking a door. This is the “Real World” test.
We have achieved the highest possible rating from UL on this test.
“Endurance Rating”
Level 1: 250,000 cycles
This test involves a continuous opening and closing of the door (also referred to as cycle testing). The RCI Cambridge office was authorized by UL to conduct this testing on our custom
built cycle testing rig. We have achieved the highest possible rating from UL on this
test.
(tested by RCI to over 500,000 cycles)
Testing Lab
• We can weigh partsin the milligrams range
• We can measure coil resistanceup to 8 decimal points.
• We can identify microscopicdifferences in materials.
Pulse Generator
This piece of equipmentenables us to test the function of our strikesolenoids at a very highspeed.
We have tested our solenoids to over15 Million cycles without Failure.
What does this rigorous testing process mean to you?
Exceeding the Expectations of our Customers: That’s our mission! By implementing these quality control standards, we have achieved an enviable level of customer satisfaction. At RCI, we bank our reputation on delivering reliable products to the market.
Return Rate: Since we introduced our 6 series strike, (in August of 2003) wehave had less than a .03% return rate. That means for every 3,300 strikes we sell, only one comes back! These numbers speak for themselves - The 6 series strike is our fastest growing product!
Dealer’s Choice Awards: The 6 series electric strike was awarded “Best New Product”, (by a panel of installers) at a recent CANASA (Canadian Alarm and Security Association) trade show.
